Champs Field Campsite is in the pretty village of Colton. Just 5 miles from York and 20 miles from both Leeds & Harrogate and their many attractions, yet once you are here you feel like you really are away from it all.
The campsite is on our working farm, Home Farm, where we have a Beef herd & chickens-a-plenty. The farm shop sells our beef products ( we also supply Waitrose), fresh farm produce from ourselves and other local farmers. So you really can stay on the farm and eat from the farm - a Colton Beef steak cooked over an open fire on the farm it was bred at - that really is zero food miles! During COVID the farm shop is open by appointment only.
We love to see campers having a great time round the campfire on an evening, and you can bring your own wood or buy it from the farm shop. Thats how proper camping should be done.
The field was previously home to our pony, Champ, who lived to the ripe old age of 37 years old and overlooks the chicken field. It is a heritage field which means it has never been ploughed, and there are a few lumps and bumps - maybe theres treasure underneath! Children love staying at Champs Field as they can run about safely in this enclosed campsite with lovely views across the countryside and our sunsets can be simply beautiful.
The campsite is a lovely quiet place where everyone is welcome. The site is ideal for groups and exclusive use bookings are available though we ask for a quiet time from 10pm.
Pitch prices:
Low Season: £10 per night midweek, £12 per night weekend
High Season: £15 per night all week
Electric Hook Ups: £3 per night to be booked as an extra at the time of booking
Apple Tree Cabin Shepherds Hut and private camping pitch! This stunning shepherds hut is available for £75 per night and includes electric, cook house, linens, parking and use of all campers facilities. This is a stunning and private rural retreat perfect for a quiet getaway...or choose to bring your own linens for a £15 per night reduction. Maximum 2 adults.

The Three Hares, Bilbrough is short drive/30 min walk away (approx 2 miles) & another great independent pub serving unusual food in good atmosphere. Great cycle routes through pretty villages and into the cycling city of York.

Colton Bridge - unique trainspotting place,you can see the steam engines being brought to & from the National Rail Museum in York.
All Saints Church,Bolton Percy (approx 3 miles)medievel church known as minster of the north before being overtaken by York Minster.

As you enter the village from Bilbrough Services turn off of the A64 towards York, Home Farm is the first house on your left hand side. The campsite is up the farm track next to the house.
