Stayed here with my teens whilst they attended Leeds festival. The campsite is small but perfectly formed.
Your pitch is displayed on a board as you arrive so you can get sorted straight away. The ground is flat and the grass is lovely!
The facilities are good (washing up area, toilet, shower) with just a few cobwebs. T
He area is very peaceful with only the noise of owls to disturb you.
I recommend this site but not if you wat to play ball games as it is quite small.

I spent 3 nights in Colton. Angela and her mother in law have been wonderful.
The campsite is very clean and calm.
As I had no car, I travelled by bus, which is close to the camp, to go to York.
It was such a pleasure to come back in the evening !
I'll never forget this place and the nice people I've met !

Another splendid stay on this wonderful little site. Everything is so quiet and relaxed. Toilets are clean and the shower is good, (£1. 00 charge).
Ate at the Olde sun inn which was good though a little pricey. Cycled on Saturday and walked to the Ship inn on Sunday. Allowed to stay on site all day on Sunday which was a bonus.
There is a Farm shop which wasn't open while we there but I believe it would have been if we had wanted anything.
£15 pn + £4 for EHU.
Will definitely be back.

Lovely weekend away, peaceful and quiet. All the facilities you need, even having to boil the kettle to wash up.
Used public transport to get into York, 8 mile journey takes 50 minutes mind.
Sun inn in Colton nice village pub/restaurant.
Altogether a nice weekend, definitely be back.

Just a field for around 10 hook ups, shower good and clean £1 for the use.
Pub in the village good meals but shut on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Very tranquil and relaxing place to be, working farm with stray cats, keep your door shut.
Would visit again… so peaceful.

The campsite was nice. Quiet and a good location. Unfortunately we wouldn’t go again. There was no communication. When we arrived there was no one to greet us and we ended up knocking on the mother in laws door who said she sort of had something to do with the campsite. She was helpful, showed us the facilities and showed us the the blackboard which showed our pitch number (but had almost been washed away). During our entire stay we didn’t see the owner and we spent a lot of time on site.
It was quite expensive at £19/night (£15 plus £4 per night for electric). There was one toilet and one shower (which we didn’t use) and you had to pay an extra £1 for a 7 min shower. There wasn’t any soap during our whole stay (an empty soap bottle was there throughout) and no hot water to wash your hands after using the facilities. There was an electric water heater but only freezing cold water drizzled out of it.
It’s such a shame as this is a lovely campsite. It’s just these few things that really let it down for us. For the price we expected more. Two excellent meals had at a pub in Bilbrough The Three Hares.

First of all, this is a lovely little site in a great location, the owners are helpful and friendly.
There is a problem however. Although they don't allow dogs, they did allow their own dog to wander onto the field resulting in dog mess which was not picked up, children play and inevitably it got trailed into the van.
It was the same when I visited last year. Because of this I will not be visiting again. Sorry.

Champs Field is a small grass field behind a farm that has room for half-a-dozen caravans or tents.
It's not easy to spot from the main road through Colton village though, and is located up a fairly tight driveway.
However, the field is quiet and well-tended. Toilets and pay-for-use showers are located in a converted garage. The elsan point and washing-up station are next door.
There is a pub (the Old Sun) five minutes walk through the village, and a fish-and-chip shop on the A64 Bilborough services two minutes drive up the road.
The site is handy for visiting York and Tadcaster, as well as for overnighting if travelling north-south on the A1M.
PS - If you're a trainspotter then this site is heaven. Just a mile down the road is a small car park overlooking the busy confluence of the Leeds-York and London-Edinburgh main lines, where you can watch and photograph all manner of trains passing by.

Just returned from this gem of a site. Ideal for a chill out. A quaint little shop selling amongst other things their own beef from their 'Dexter' cows.
One shower costing one pound for 7/8 minutes and one toilet. Usual electric hook up, water and elsan disposable point.
A lovely Pub just a few minutes walk away serving very good food at slightly more expensive prices but well worth it. York a short drive away or a bus ride. Other attractions close by as shown in the sites book. Will need levelling blocks for most pitches.
Met by lovely owners and nothing was too much through out our stay. Will definitely be going back. Is now a no dog site.
