Ferrygate Camping is a traditional tents only site, located right next to the water of the Norfolk Broads. There are no electric hook-ups and no set pitches, but we have 9 acres of a `back to nature` grass field in glorious countryside.
Please note that Ferrygate is under new management.
Caravans and motorhomes are not permitted, however, small campervans are allowed if they have a canvas awning that can be pulled out and used (drive-away awnings are also accepted).
Our flushing loos and hot water showers all are individual units, affording you privacy and keeping you connected with nature and the natural surroundings of the site.
The site is off-grid so we have no mains which means no electric hook up or charging points and no chemical waste disposal facilities.
The Coffee Shack is open to both campers and non-campers offering freshly made barista coffee, tea, hot chocolate and a selection of homemade cakes, cold beverages and snacks.
And as the Coffee Shack is powered by solar energy, there is also a drop of sunshine in every cup!!
Night times are very special at Ferrygate - with firepits for keeping cosy and toasting marshmallows, whilst enjoying the vast space and stargazing in virtually zero light pollution. It is breath-taking.
Ferrygate has its own private launch facility for SUP, kayaks and canoes - access to the water is just a few steps from your tent.
Also, just opposite the campsite is day boat hire. So if you want to explore the Broads, you can do it by many means, directly from our site.
The nearest shopping facilities are in Martham which is a quaint village and only a 1 mile walk up a quiet lane. It has a large green with duck pond, post office, two Co-Ops, a fish and chip shop, a kebab and Chinese take-away and two pubs.
Nearby Attractions
The Norfolk Broads is a water lovers paradise! Consisting of over 120 miles of navigable, lock-free waterways as well as 63 broads with channels and cuts that can only be reached by Stand-Up Paddle Board, Kayak or Canoe and make for a perfect way to explore.
For those that prefer land-based adventures there are miles of stunning, sandy beaches, numerous walking trails and cycle routes both on and off-road, all accessible from the site - this really is the best location for camping under canvas in East Norfolk!
The beautiful coastal village of Winterton-on-Sea is only a seven-minute drive away and offers a majestical sandy beach, perfect for taking a dip in! And also the Winterton Dunes National Nature Reserve, providing huge fun to investigate its ups and downs. It also has a traditional, popular pub.
Other local sandy beaches include Horsey - great for seal spotting, Sea Palling, Waxham and Happisburgh, all driveable from the campsite.
