We are a very small group of friends who isup (inflatable Stand up Paddleboard for them who don’t know) regularly and we fancied trying a camp out whilst using our boards during the day. So we hits some groups and websites and this one kept popping up and so we booked.
This camp site was perfect for us, big field, lots of room, no pitches as such but we were made aware of cars and tents to be kept suitable distances away from your neighbour so we knew it was a laid back site with safety in mind.
Facilities was just as stated, immaculate toilet and shower facilities, a coffee shack opens in the day( check times) and kayaks and isups available for hire and training given.
Even though it was fully booked it felt so open, we hired a fire pit (wood, kindling and fire starter included in the price) and saw the flames pop up in the distance around us.
The launch area was spacious and solid, taking you out on a private inlet to join a quiet part of the Norfolk broads, we went left and found a pub and rewarded ourselves for the paddle up stream. A local takeaway delivered to site to sort out the evening meal too (menu in reception).
Communication was good, I had lots of questions from various members of the group and they was answered via email.
We were lucky by having the perfect weather (albeit a tad windy on the first day) but sunshine throughout and a spectacular sunset and an amazing starlit night sky unspoiled by light pollution.
There is no tapped drinking water on site, be aware of this for your travel here, I did see a couple of barrels set up under the shelter but as we had seen this in the blurb we packed our own so didn’t use or try them. The fact it was a non ECU site didn’t bother us, we knew the facts before hand and packed accordingly. Well set out, easily priced and booking was a breeze.
This site was perfect for our needs and can’t wait to head back again.
Thank you Ferrygate

There's a lot to like about this site. The location is lovely, and it has a nice relaxed feel.
After our week it's clear that Ferrygate is not really geared up for anything other than short stay camping though.
Toilets and showers are fine.
The lack of drinking water wasn't ideal during the hot weather and while a big plastic tub of water was available, because it had been stored for so long in the heat it developed an unpleasant taste.
It's a shame the coffee shack is only open at weekends. I understand that it's just not worth it for a couple of tents, but I do think this should be clear on the website. There's no-one on site during the week, even for an hour or so in the morning so you're a bit abandoned. Mobile numbers are available. But phone batteries do run out.
If you're looking for somewhere to spend a couple of nights, this is great. If you need somewhere to be a base for a week, then it might be better to look elsewhere.
We loved the area but we wouldn't return to this site, despite the lovely location.

A lovely campsite with everything you need for a great camping trip - individual shower and toilets cubicles with plenty of hot water and a huge field to pitch your tent in!
Hired a fire pit from the reception area and enjoyed star gazing by our own little fire!
A really quiet site (there were around 20 other tents but the field is so big that even with music playing, you’re not disturbed by other campers.
Didn’t get chance to go out on the water but the private access to the river just a few metres from the camping field is definitely something we’ll be using next time we visit!

What a gorgeous place, and run by the amazing Nat! It's a seriously good site - if you're going to Norfolk, go here! :)
Me and my 2 X 14 year old boys arrived to a warm welcome from Nat. We set up near the gate to the landing stage, so that we could get to the water within seconds - it's just across the lane, spacious enough to launch our 2 kayaks and 1 SUP and very robust. (I was told by another family that they saw an otter here too).
The showers and loos are all in separate pods, and really cute, made of wood and corrugated roofing. The water's toasty, and Nat cleans everything daily so it was always tiptop.
The wash up area is open on 1 side and has a massive sink. There are large plastic trugs to fill so you can wash round a big table if there are lots of people washing at once. Again always clean and tidy (unless someone else hasn't cleaned the sink after their wash up).
The ground is level so easy pitching for van or tent. Fire pits are a must, and kept my teens away from their phones for a good few hours!
Nat was really helpful with cycle and water route planning. She knows her stuff and water safety is a priority. There's a fab cafe at Prior Higham which is about an hour's paddle away, and a gourmet burger van at Horsey Gap in the dunes for seal watching. Nat has a coffee shack with cakes and croissants too, as well as a stock of marshmallows!

Wonderful location, awesome sunsets, stunningly clean facilities with plenty of hot water.
We hired kayaks from site owners and had a great time.
The on site coffee shack is well worth a visit and Nat was super helpful with tips on local area.
Tucked away and quiet.

Wonderful new campsite, right by the water. Lovely and basic, with the cleanest toikets and showers!
We were met by a very welcoming hostess, who was around plenty to answer any questions, serve deliscous buns and drinks, and even hire kayaks.
My nine year old daughter loved it!
Thankyou for a great place!

This is a new site in a field near the River Thurne and with mature trees on one side.
The loos and showers are fine, although there is no wheelchair access to them. Natalie was very helpful when I made the booking. There were only a few other campers and the site could cope with more.
I think it would be good for children - space to run around when units are round the edges. It's 15 minutes walk to Martham shops, and about 30 on a footpath to the Lion Inn at Somerton.
There are walks along the river to Wiverton (aboput 4. 5 miles) and Potter Heigham about 2 miles). I will go again.
They don't yet have drinking water but supply bottled water in good quantities.
