If you`re after a campsite with a countryside setting with beautiful views, to park up for the night or you are looking for a base to explore and enjoy the stunning the south west of Scotland, and other areas of Scotland, then you`ve hit upon the right spot.
Newbridge Country Park is a modern family & dog friendly holiday park and campsite open all year that handily suits both purposes, being half an hours drive from the M74 (for journey to the Highlands or south to the Lakes) and about the same distance from beaches and historic castles.
Set in several acres of countryside, the holiday park and campsite have spectacular views over the hills of Galloway Forest Park (half an hours drive), where you can soon be out exploring on foot or by bike.
Anglers can cast their rods in the river on site, or cast for brown trout at Alderneuk Fishery or fly fish for salmon (in season) on the River Nith (both 15 minutes), and there are a couple of golf courses within 15 minutes drive too.
Expect a warm welcome to all types of tourer vehicles, including camper vans, motor homes, large motor homes, caravans, trailer tents, roof tents, tents, on our hard standing pitches or grass pitches with EHU.
Hardstanding/grass pitches is £30 a night with EHU for 2 adults, 2 children + 1 dog. Grass pitches without EHU from £20. Minimum of 2 night stay during Bank holidays.
Facilities on the site includes 3 free unlimited showers, one with a wet room for those with mobility problems, a laundry room with a washing machine & tumble drier at a small cost, washing up facilities, an elsan point, 2 grey water disposal points - one for motorhomes next to reception, free games room with comfy seating, free Wi-Fi, 16amp EHU, and no extra charge for awnings.
The site has secure coded gates that are locked at night and opened at approx. 8am, but you can gain entry after that time with with the gate code.
Large off-lead enclosed dog walking/ walking area with mowed pathway around a large field, with some of the walk alongside a beautiful river, with a couple of benches to sit, relax, and enjoy the scenery.
The historic town of Dumfries (10 minutes drive), and with major supermarkets & retail parks (5 minutes drive away), ideal for picking up food or any other bits and bobs.
If you`re having a break from cooking, take your pick of local cosy pubs, cafes and restaurants serving local Scottish produce and lots of other choices of meals to accommodate everyone.
There`s a petrol station including a shop, a daytime cafe, are just five minutes` walk from the site, with a bus stop just outside the site that goes directly into Dumfries.
Nearby Attractions
Dalscone farm fun, is home to the world famous loneliest sheep, Fiona. With an indoor soft play area and fun-filled farm park, they are Dumfries` top destination for families!
Mabie Farm is where the whole family can spend hours feeding animals, bouncing on the jumping pillows, slides, play barn, boating pond, donkey rides, choochoo express & quad biking. There is a tearoom for lunch & gift/toy shop.
Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum holds collections covering the role of the RAF Dumfries during WW2, the development of our Airborne Forces capability during WW2 and beyond.
Dino Park is southern Scotland`s best dinosaur experience. Step back 150 million years and discover the giants who roamed the earth.
Dumfries was the birthplace of Robbie Burns in 1759. See displays on the life of Scotland`s favourite poet, as well as portraits and period rooms, at the Robert Burns House.
Drumlanrig Castle and Gardens, makes a great day out for all the family, with it`s art collection, woodland walks and adventure playground. For more Scottish heritage, stop by the moated remains of medieval Caerlaverock Castle.
Dock Park Dumfries is a large park running alongside the River Nith, with a cafe, mini golf & putting, trampolining, bowling & a children`s playground.
The Cocabean Company is a family run chocolate factory and visitor attraction in Dumfries & Galloway. It`s a day full of fun for all the family. Workshops for children & adults, indoor & outdoor play, and cafe.

FROM THE SOUTH: The M6 is the main route into Scotland from the south. At jct 22 take the A75 exit towards Dumfries/Stranraer. Continue on A75 until you reach Cuckcoo island, then take the 5th exit onto the A76. Carry on the A76 for about 1.5 miles and we are on the right. Look for the bus shelter on the right just before the entrance into Newbridge Country Park & the flags flying, wind permitting.
FROM THE M74: At jct 15, take the A701 exit to Dumfries/Beattock/Moffatt. At Bloomfield Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A75. Continue on A75 until you reach Cuckcoo island, then take the 5th exit onto the A76. Carry on the A76 for about 1.5 miles and we are on the right. Look for the bus shelter on the right just before the entrance into Newbridge Country Park & the flags flying, wind permitting.
FROM KILMARNOCK: Take the A76 and follow for approximately 50 miles. As you come through Hollywood and the speed reduces to 40mph we are on the left. Look out for the flags, wind permitting.
FROM STRANRAER: Take the A75 towards Dumfries. Follow the A75 for 72 miles until you reach cuckcoo roundabout. Take the first exit onto the A76. Carry on the A76 for about 1.5 miles and we are on the right. Look for the bus shelter on the right just before the entrance into Newbridge Country Park & the flags flying, wind permitting.
