Amidst some of Derbyshire's most beautiful scenery, this secluded family friendly camp site enjoys panoramic views towards Riber Castle from its peaceful position.
Our camp site is set within 50 acres on level, well maintained ground and has room for up to 50 tent pitches. Some pitches have electric hook-ups.
There is a centrally heated toilet block with hot and cold running water, hair driers and hand driers and free hot showers. There is a separate pot washing area.
Fantastic facilities for campers at Packhorse Farm include seven showers, six toilets and separate wash cubicles for privacy. Electric sockets provided for hair straighteners and charging mobile phone. Disabled and baby changing facilities also available.
We have now got a camping pod on the site available for couples and families
Packhorse Farm is situated ½ mile out of Tansley village and is an excellent base from which to explore the Peak District. It is only 2½ miles from Matlock town centre and a 20 minute car ride from Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall.
Walking, cycling and horse-riding are available locally. Tansley village has 2 public houses, all of which accept children, and a shop with Post Office.

Cuckoostone walk is a 3.5 mile walk from the farm and is a proper way marked route.
The High Peak Cycling trail near Middleton-by-Wirksworth provides traffic free cycling and walking (cycle hire available).
Hall Leys Park situated in Matlock Town centre provides a carefree day for families wanting low cost entertainment.
Matlock Bath is only 3 miles away
Carsington Water Reservoir, situated between Middleton-by-Wirksworth and Ashboume town centre also offers a very good day out for the price of a car parking ticket.
Caudwell's Mill is a unique grade two listed historic roller flour mill. Powered by water from the River Wye it is free to park.
Leave the M1 motorway at junction 28 and take the A38 to Alfreton. At the first roundabout on A38 (Watchorn Roundabout), take the 3rd exit off the roundabout, then immediately take the first exit (A615/Matlock). Follow A615 for 6.5 miles until you see the Tavern At Tansley pub on your right. At the Tavern at Tansley, turn right onto Church Street. Our signboard is on the junction to help you. At the end of Church Street, pass the Gate Inn on your left, up the hill and turn left at the crossroads following our sign. The next crossroad is the campsite entrance.
