Where the forest meets the sea
An enchanting playground
Children can be children, enjoying a sense of freedom and good old fashioned play, beavering by the stream, hiding in the woods and foraging in the forest.
A rural wildlife haven, rabbits hop at your feet, birds sing, butterflies dance and squirrels - well, squirrel! We have Sika deer too.
Burnbake offers a back-to-nature camping experience thats relaxed, rustic and charming and bookings are open now. Campfires crackle and fairy lights twinkle. We welcome tents and small camper vans - we apologise that we are currently unable to accommodate caravans. You wont find restricting marked pitches here. Simply check in at reception, then go and choose your ideal spot, open and sunny or shaded under the trees.
Wood campfires (in containers off the ground) add to the atmosphere. Fire pits are available for hire subject to availability and you can buy marshmallows to toast from our on site shop which also stocks logs, fine local produce, pastries, groceries, treats, ice creams, toys and camping goods. Please be aware that as part of our efforts to protect the beautiful wildlife and heathlands surrounding our campsite, disposable BBQs are not permitted anywhere on site - we appreciate your cooperation in helping to keep Purbeck safe. We welcome the use of gas stoves and coal fire pits that are safely raised above ground.
We want everyone to enjoy the relaxed environment at Burnbake. Well behaved dogs are welcome at no charge, however they must be kept on a lead at all times and any deposits quickly cleared up. We ask that you keep a safe distance between pitches and remain peaceful, keeping noise to a minimum after 10.30pm.
Main Campsite
The Main Campsite is set within woodland, where you can pitch your tent amongst the trees. This field is prettier than the Open Field, but it is more enclosed and therefore doesnt offer as much space. The main facilities are on this field.
We also have 10 electric hook-up pitches here, which are a mix of grass pitches and wood chippings (no hard standings), allocated on a first comes first served basis. Please note if booking an electric hook up with other pitches on the main campsite, nonelectric cant pitch next to a electric hook up.
The Open Field
This is a large open field that backs onto the forest. This field gets more sunshine than the main site and is perfect for larger groups or those who would like a bit more space. The Open field is a few minutes walk from the main facilities, although we put some portaloos out there to save your legs!
When you book you are guaranteed a pitch, but we dont allocate or have numbered pitches, so its a first come first served basis on what spot you get.
Nearby Attractions
Of course, the beauty of Purbeck and the Jurassic Coast is an attraction in itself, but theres lots to do and plenty to see, so where do you start ?
Corfe Castle is a must. And, just along the road, Dorset Adventure Park provides splashing fun in idyllic surroundings. The beaches are simply stunning. There are land and sea based activities and adventure sports to get the heart pumping, museums full of nostalgia and a whole bucket load of seaside attractions to enjoy at Swanage.
Explore country parks and nature reserves teaming with wildlife or take a scenic cruise from Swanage, Poole or Lulworth to see the Jurassic Coast in all its glory.
