Description
Pitches: 5
Opening Dates this season: 01/04/2025 to 31/10/2025
This is a small, relaxed, no-frills campsite offering a friendly, back to nature camping experience. We are situated on the Wenlock Edge, near the villages of Rushbury and Longville in the Dale. This is a working family farm with cattle, sheep, crops of wheat and barley, and machinery. Sometimes it can be noisy if the animals are being fed or we are combining or sowing, and sometimes it can be muddy or dusty. Often though, it is wonderfully peaceful and quiet!
It is a five pitch site of approximately 1 acre situated in the lower part of a field next to a tree-lined brook, close to the farmstead. There is a cold water tap, recycling bins, some moveable picnic benches, fire bowls, and plenty of grass on which to pitch your tent or park your caravan or campervan. The toilet and washing facility is a short walk away by the farmhouse, and during busy periods there is often a portaloo on site.
Campfires are generally permitted in a fire bowl, but please be responsible and site it well away from trees, hedges, crops and tents or other people.
We happily accept children and well behaved dogs on-site. We are also happy to accept larger groups such as Duke of Edinburgh and Scouts.
There are footpaths and a bridleway directly from the campsite up onto the Jack Mytton Way, part of the Shropshire Way. This very pretty area is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
The Royal Oak is two miles away in the very pretty village of Cardington that serves good wholesome food, and there are several more within a five mile drive. Our local market town, Church Stretton (5 miles away) has a good range of independent shops including butchers, bakers, post office, newsagents, delicatessen and gifts.
Please note there are NO electrical hook-up points or hard standing pitches, and occasionally during very wet periods the ground may be too soft to drive on.
Nearby Attractions
Ironbridge Gorge Museum, Shrewsbury Abbey, Wroxeter Roman Vineyard, Severn Valley Steam Railway, Powys Castle and Wilderhope Manor (National Trust), and the medieval market towns of Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth.
Walking, riding or biking along the Wenlock Edge or over the Long Mynd and South Shropshire Hills.
Explore the beautiful countryside as depicted in Houseman`s poetry.
