Description
Pitches: 66 touring; 30 tent
Opening Dates this season: 01/04/2025 to 09/10/2025
Our campsite overlooks the Pentland Firth and the Orkney Islands making it the perfect location for a scenic camping trip.
This lovely 4.5 acre coastal site provides the best of both worlds: stunning rural coastal views with easy access to amenities in town. It overlooks Thurso Bay and the Orkney Isles can be seen in the distance. The North Link Ferry Terminal at Scrabster Harbour is only 3km away.
The Pitches:
The site is made up of 34 hardstanding pitches with electrical hookup, 12 hardstanding pitches without electrical hookup, 6 grass pitches with electrical hookup and 4 tent areas.
All of our pitches have stunning views and all them overlook the bay.
The Facility Block and Other Facilities:
Electric Hookups; Motorhome Service Point; Individual Changing and Shower Rooms, Disabled Toilet and Shower Room; Hair Dryer and Electric Shave Points; Laundry Facilities, Dishwashing Area; WiFi available; BT hotspot zone.
Dogs are more than welcome provided they are kept on a leash at all times around the campsite.
The Blue Door Coffee Shop & Diner:
Our on-site restaurant has served campsite guests and the local community for almost a decade. It is a three-in-one affair: independent burger joint; coffee shop; and artisan ice cream parlour all rolled into one!
It serves original beef burgers, hot dogs, fish n fries as well as its own artisan ice cream and specialty milk shakes and coffee.
Take-away available (great food and the great outdoors from the comfort of your tent, caravan, or motorhome).
We are a BT hotspot zone and Wi-Fi is free.
Camping Equipment/Accessories for Sale:
Don`t worry if you have forgotten something or are looking for something camping related as we have a selection of items for sale in reception. We have many items for sale such as chemical toilet fluid, levelling blocks, power leads, phone charging cables, power banks as well as many others.
Static Caravans:
Static holiday homes are available from Thurso Bay Holidays, a separate business located within the park.
Offsite:
The town centre is a 5-10 minute walk from the campsite. It is filled with restaurants, cafes, shops, pubs and lots of sites to see. Across the road from the campsite is a Lidls supermarket which is easy to access from the campsite.
There are 4 banks with ATMs available within a short distance, as well as numerous supermarkets, pubs, shops, etc.
There is a bus stop next to the campsite, and taxis will pick up and drop passengers in our car park.
With all that Thurso has to offer it makes us the perfect hub for you to explore Caithness and the Highlands.

Nearby Attractions
Lidl Supermarket (more a necessity than an attraction perhaps) is just across the A9 from the campsite and open seven days a week; Play park; Town centre--five-minue walk;
There are numerous nature walks, historic and pre-historic sites, loch and ocean fishing opportunities, as well as seasonal sporting events such as the famous Halkirk Games in July.
Individual sporting opportunities include beaches, fishing, boating, pony trekking, surfing tennis and bowls.
Ferries to the Orkneys
Scrabster ferry terminal is only a 5 minute drive from the campsite, making us the perfect overnight stop before continuing your adventure over to Orkney
