Because Orchard Lakes is superbly situated right on the edge of the New Forest ( we are within the national park boundary ) and close to the sea ( about 3 miles away )there is so much to do even if you don't like fishing ! Walking , cycling (local bike hire), horse riding (half a mile), water sports (great scuba diving , ask the owner) and beaches the list is endless . Even high street shopping with Southampton and Bournemouth both half an hour away by car ( less by train ). If after all the activity you just want to relax then there are so many picturesque Forest pubs with good homemade food. For sightseers there are many local attractions including; Burley, Beaulieu, Lyndhurst, Hurst Castle, Mudeford Quay and Lymington with ferries to the Isle Of Wight.
