We chose to stay at Orchard Lakes due to the close proximity to the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum as this was the main purpose of our weekend away (the museum was excellent with lots on offer for the family, not all motorcycle focused).

We had a non EHU pitch, located in a well maintained and very pleasant large open field with only 2 other campers so lots of space.

Orchard lakes, as the name and website suggests, is a fishing resort which also welcomes non fishing campers such as ourselves. We were the only guests who were not there for the fishing but we made to feel very welcome and enjoyed several walks around the fishing lakes during our stay.

The site has the benefit of new toilets and showers which are very good and a cafe soon to open by the looks of things.

This was a quiet campsite in beautiful surroundings. We had the choice of two non-electric fields, and there was plenty of space.

Good facilities - a new toilet and shower block - one of the best campsite showers I've used! They are working on a new cafe.

We walked around the fishing lakes which seemed very popular. Only a few minutes away from the beach, and there are nearby shops and food takeaways.

I would stay there again.

Just needed somewhere to stay visiting friends for a few days. Orchard Lakes was fine for us. Owner Anita very laid back.

No facilities at all other than a couple of water taps and EHU. Post kept tripping with our heating on 3 Kw but other than that OK. Hard standing very uneven and sloping plus difficult to get pegs into.

We should have parked the van at the edge of the hardstanding and pitched awning on grass. Chem disposal. Interesting. Just lift the lid off the manhole and there you go. Tap and hose nearby so no drama but it could be better.

There is a toilet by the fishing tackle shop but that's a five minute walk away.

The area is stunning. Very quiet but we would be seeking out something with a few more facilities if we visit the area again especially at £20 per night.

Loved this site so peaceful and relaxing and owner Anita very laid back.

Fishing pools beautiful and my husband enjoyed fishing them. I even caught a 6lb mirror carp and I'm not really a fishing person. Great shop at bottom of lane and The Plough a great pub too and not far away and Barton on sea 14 mins away.

Even though we were in a motorhome we did not find it a problem to go out everyday. I don't have children but very dog friendly.

We will definitely come back as we visit hampshire every year. My only criticism is a closer toilet would have been welcome especially when Ive had too much to drink. However that was my problem really and I managed ok.

Nice pitch, can't fault the site, beautiful dogs that roam around, good fishing lakes, reasonably priced, but very inconsistent, as one day was a complete different price, poor communication between site staff, for example, we came with my dad, who is disabled and was told fishing lake a 100yrds from our pitch, however this was much further, he had to drive his car, then we got moaned at by the owner, because he parked his car alongside the lake, after being told it was ok by the staff.

Despite buying days fishing for the day, owners doubted this, and followed us back to our caravan, to verify ticket, never happened to us anywhere we have been before.

Not very well sign posted, as we drove to the fishing tackle shop, with the caravan, and was rudely greeted, by tackle shop staff, who just said go and ask for Anita. Which is whom.

No toilet facility, as said on the net.

Other than that, weather was beautiful.

Great little campsite for those looking to fish, or have a holiday in the new forest. Its quiet and has a very woody, country feel with horses in the next field.

We stayed in the camping field which is flat and sheltered and near the fishing shop that does really good bacon sandwiches when you can't be bothered to cook your own breakfast!

The toilets are deceptive, looking like a garden shed on the outside, but well done-out on the inside and were always kept clean when we were there. Would be great if there were showers; they're on the agenda but haven't been built yet.

Its fantastic value, even with the basic facilities, and the owners were very friendly and helpful.

For families with small children, the campsite is around 30m from the nearest lake, just across a gravel drive.
