BY CAR Follow the A362 West through Frome past a graveyard on the left then a row of shops on the right. Then take the first exit at the mini roundabout. Continue over the crest of the hill and down the hill out of town. Take the first right onto Elm Lane. After 200m the road turns sharply left, but go straight on over the filled in cattle grid and up the short, steep hill. Turn right into the field just before the houses - signposted Vallis Veg and Camping. DONT GO PAST THE COTTAGES at the top of the short hill, the entrance to Vallis Veg is before the cottages.
Nearby Attractions
We have a public footpath running through our site which gives easy pedestrian access to the town of Frome as well as lovely walks to some of the surrounding villages.
Frome has lots of activities, from tennis in the park and a sports centre to art and craft sessions and venues offering anything from films to opera. See: https://www.discoverfrome.co.uk/events/ for more info.
More suggestions The walk to Mells (7km round trip) is particularly beautiful and has lots of things to see, including a fascinating viewpoint looking over the quarry just outside the village. There are several excellent places to eat in Mells: the Walled Garden, the Vaillge Shop (and cafe) and the Talbot Inn.
Follow the cycle track from Great Elm to Radstock and visit the mining museum.
Walk along the MacMillan Way to Nunney and visit the castle.
