Nearby Attractions
As the only campsite to have direct access to Lathkill Dale, the stunning limestone valley, you can enjoy walks along the river, taking in Lathkill Head Cave and the crystal clear waters that flow into deep pools known locally as The Blue Waters.
For a slightly longer ramble, Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow reward with prehistoric monuments and ancient burial mounds.
Combine your stroll around the grounds at Chatsworth House with a guided tours of the mansion`s ornate rooms packed with priceless antiques, or take in the Elizabethan Walled Gardens at Haddon Hall (both 20 minutes` drive) after you`ve admired the tapestry collection and medieval chapel.
For an insight into Peak District heritage, visit the Eyam Museum in the famed ‘plague village` to learn the story of the Bubonic Plague of 1346-52, or have a wander around the deserted remains of Magpie Mine (five minutes` drive), which was the last working lead mine in Derbyshire and closed in 1958.
