This is a good small site for vidd SF visiting Durham City Centre.
Set right on the river with nice walks into the centre.
It’s part of a rowing club so it gets busy with boaters during the day.
Club house/cafe on site and basic shower facilities shared with the club during opening hours.

We spent a few days here in the run up to Christmas.
Excellent base for Durham City. Well located about 15 minutes walk from the centre.
Lovely riverside walks from the site.
Club house on site with showers available.
Grass between pitches a bit muddy.
Overall, good base.

Great pitch overlooking the Wear, with very good walks from the site.
It might get a little muddy in the grass around the pitch.
The facilities were good and well-maintained.
Easy access to Durham.

This is a small 5 van site attached to the local rowing club.
Facilities available between 7am and midnight - they are shared with the rowing club. Good club house on site.
Ideally situated for a short walk into the city.
Excellent value.

We have just returned from 5 days at this campsite with 2 grandchildren. It now has marked out pitches with 3 overlooking the river, the setting is fabulous and just 10 minutes walk to the centre of Durham.
There is now 24 access to washing and toilet facilities (key from the club), it has both disabled and baby changing facilities as well as free WiFi and all for just £12. 50 per night.
Everything is very easy going on this site, the boys played near the river and some ball games nearby and nobody minded, the dog was very welcome and we were able to walk him nearby.
There is some noise in the mornings as club members arrive to row but we did not find this a problem, all in all I would recommend this site, it's a gem.

We stayed here for a week so we could attend our sons Graduation without having to pay hundreds of pounds for a hotel room!
Lovely site next to the river. Some pitches more sunny than others, but all with pleasant views and enough space for car, caravan and awning on each pitch. Very peaceful at night, with slightly more noise during the day with rowers coming and going + people on the river.
Toilets and showers are shared with the rowing club, so no access after hours. There is also a bar that you can buy drinks from when it's open - useful for times when thirsty students drink your entire cider supply in one evening!
The site is a 15 minute walk into town either beside the river or along the road - great for Graduation day to avoid any difficulty parking!
A great little site for visiting Durham if you don't mind relatively basic facilities. One final thing to say; this is not a site to bring children to as there is no protection for them from falling into the river!

An excellent site situated on the river bank it is very picturesque. Conveniently located within easy walking distance of Durham itself, it is a 10 minute pleasant stroll along the river bank to the city centre. Apart from the natural beauty of the countryside there is also the added entertainment of watching the rowing club activities. We really thoroughly enjoyed out stay here. The staff are more than friendly with all needs met.

Visited this site for 1 night, really pleased with it. You can walk your dog forever off the lead along the river and many walkways and the city centre a 10 minute walk away. It was a bit muddy whilst I was there but I bet in better weather it, s brilliant. To get on the hard standings you have to cross a little bit of grass but they said I could stop in the car park, not a problem. I was told I could use the toilets while somebody was there which there was most of the time £10 a night with electric.

An excellent site for visiting Durham City - plenty to do in Durham (Cathedral, Castle, really great old pubs) as well as walking beside the River Wear and in surrounding wooded hillsides.
CDP very accessible as was water. Other facilities were available when the Rowing club was open.
The buzz of the rowers from the rowing club added to the atmosphere at the site - a real gem and we will definitely be back.
