Dale Farm RURAL campsite was an accurate description but a lovely place to stay.

We originally booked for 3 nights but then emailed soon after to change to 5 nights and received a prompt reply.

Generous sized pitches,

Facilities were kept spotlessly clean and every evening was quiet and peaceful.

A expensive site with odd charges for ‘early’ check in.

Nice shower block. Good views.

Had trouble getting our van level but managed it eventually. We don’t usually have a problem with this.

If you have asthma or breathing problems, don’t stay here; come 17:30 literally everyone lights up a bonfire, smoke everywhere.

Not sure if it’s good value for money.

 Fabulous site and location.

Facilities are spotless.

A warm welcome from the owners on arrival.

There is a choice of 3 pubs in walking distance and a little shop in the village.

Lots of walks from the campsite

What a wonderful find! Such a lovely welcome, despite the heavy rain and everything was explained very clearly as we are new to motorhoming.

An excellent site, shower block was warm, clean and well looked after. The pitch with EHU was a good size although the grass was a bit long for trainers, I really needed my wellies - next time.

Easy access to the Monsal Trail we took our bikes and stopped on the way back for lunch at The Crispin - Steak and Unicorn pie - fab food, definitely recommended.

We purchased bacon and sausages from the site farm shop and they were delicious.

What's not to like? - having to come home, will be back soon.

We stayed here for three nights. The site was wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The views were great, especially from the top of the site.

Toilets and showers were unisex and very well looked after.

The site is well located if you want to enjoy the Monsal Trail, which made for a very enjoyable cycle ride. There are some cafes along the way if you want to stop for a drink.

There’s a couple for decent pubs in Great Longstone, just 10 minute walk away. We had a very good Sunday lunch at the White Lion.

Campsite owners were really friendly and very helpful.

Not sure how good this site would be for younger families. Not much space for kids to play.

We loved our time here. Great location, great site.

Very friendly and helpful owners,

Only stayed two days for short visit but definitely would stay at campsite again.

This is a lovely secluded small site in a quaint village. I loved that the pitches are segregated, although they are long and thin so you are quite close to your neighbour. Most have EHU.

The site has fabulous views and amazing unisex toilets/showers which are closed each day at midday for cleaning. There is a fridge for freezer blocks, but not for food.

Great location with a village shop and 3 nearby pubs and a bus stop in the village if you want to go to Bakewell or castleton. Lots of lovely walks and access to the Monsal Trail.

Strict noise policy from 10 pm to 7 am

This is a fantastic little campsite in a superb location. There are beautiful views over the Derbyshire countryside from the site and the nearby villages are really picturesque.

The Monsal trail is only ten minutes walk away and there is a great selection of pubs and cafes nearby.

As to the site itself; it's not large with only 30 pitches, mostly on grass. It is well laid out and all the facilities are clearly signposted.

We were welcomed by the warden, Andy. He is very friendly, professional and obviously likes his job. He took a lot of care to help us position our van to fill up with water and then to back up onto our pitch.

The pitches are quite level and an adequate size.

The site had everything that we needed - a fantastic shower block with very modern fittings and fantastically clean. So clean we were almost afraid to use it! The showers were hot and powerful enough with a push button action (that needed pushing every five seconds, bit annoying) and very spacious cubicles with two hooks and a bench.

There were ample recycling bins and a chemical toilet disposal point (green fluid only) There is an indoor communal area which would be useful for campers in bad weather.

The little camp shop had a range of cakes that were too tempting to pass on. Also a range of camping necessities and frozen meats from the farm.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return

With a lovely hillside location in the Peak District with first class facilities this site is so good we’ve been twice this summer. Key features for us is a proper wetroom bathroom as my partner is disabled.

We also like that fires are allowed. The facilities are located in a purpose built place with wet room bathroom, freezer for ice blocks, 4 washing up sinks, 8 unisex toilets and 8 unisex showers. The showers are free, spacious and well thought out.

The site managers Cassie and Manny were so lovely, friendly and helpful. The site is on a working farm so some of the rules about access to the site reflect that ( eg limits on when you can go on and off site by car).

There are a range of pitches available and on our first trip we had a large hillside one with ehu. On the second trip it was a smaller non ehu further up the hill. It’s a quiet site with a no noise rule after 10pm.

The village of Great Longstone is a 5 minute walk and has a shop, 2 pubs and a very old church. There is a farm shop on site with their own meat products, eggs, Wi-Fi vouchers, firewood etc.

The location is perfect for many Peak District attractions ( my personal favourite is Haddon Hall).

Very glad we found this place and we shall go back!

Very disappointed with our allocated hardstanding spot on arrival in a corner by the dusty entrance with absolutely no views of the wonderful countryside and which was surrounded by high bushes.

However, Manny (the on site manager) came to the rescue and we moved up to a much more open pitch with better views.

Having said that, the pitches are all parallel and inevitably it's impossible not to be looking at your neighbours at close quarters.

As others have said, the shower/loo block is absolutely the best and kept immaculate by Manny's wife Cathy.

Great Longstone has 2 pubs and a shop and is a short walk away down. And then back up, a steepish hill.

The site has many good walks nearby and is only a couple of miles from Monsal Head.
