Bought a new tent and only had 2 days free for a little trip. My partner Robbo had a quick scan of the area on the internet as we love North Yorkshire and booked the first place that came up which was Riverside.
What a beautiful little spot. It is so peaceful and secluded with a little stream running by. It is easy walking distance to the little village of Ayton where we visited 2 really lovely dog friendly pubs.
We loved every minute and will definitely be visiting again. And the weather has been amazing.
The only slightly negative comment I have is that the grass needed mowing in the field. But that is all x

A lovely peaceful site, just what we needed to get away from some stress at home. The site was quite vacant with only one other occupant.
We were greeted by Lizzie after arrival she was very friendly and down to earth offering information on a local attraction that was taking place later that evening which we were unaware of and we’re glad for that as it was a fun event ( a gold wing biker charity tour in aid of air ambulance)
The whole process was easy going and stress free. I had a little difficulty with transferring payment ( I’m not tech minded ) So Henry also very easy going, assured me it was fine and I could pay cash on arrival.
We had a lovely quiet break away from the hustle bustle of home. We are from a farming background and so the sheep chickens and the odd goose seemed unaffected by our presence.
We left refreshed, I remarked to my husband that I felt I’d had actually had a good break and felt so much better than when I arrived. There are toilets on site and they were quite basic but functional.
There are opportunities for countryside walks and the beach is a short drive away.
This site is in a nice rural location and a short drive to local amenities.

The site is a little run down but has basic facilities there for toilet, shower, cold wash up, waste, electric and drinking water.
Grass a little long but with shade, a river to cool the dogs and plenty of space.
Chicken and sheep on site thing free.
We would return but hope the price might be a bit cheaper to mirror the facilities on site. Maybe avoid after heavy rain.

Ongoing improvements. Looking good.
Sadly the previous owner decided to sell up so we were left wondering how things may progress. Well, the improvements to the shower and toilet area are ongoing but looking like it's going to be something special.
I see lots of other works in progress so this could be a real gem.
Watch this space!

We are in no doubt this was once a great campsite. But unfortunately it isn’t now!
Toilets and showers are disgusting, I’m a builder and in my professional opinion a few hundred pounds would smarten it up. But I will say the owners were really friendly.
So all in all site is rundown, but it’s a great location. Facilities need a spruce up.
All that said, we showed the bulldog spirit and had a good weekend making the best of it.
Would stay again but only as and when the facilities are renovated.

We have a caravan stored here. Dave, the friendly chap, sites the caravan for us ready for arrival. There are many pitches for those who tour too. My son, who came over to join us for the weekend, at very short notice, decided he'd like to store his touring caravan here too. No problem whatsoever. Such an efficient and speedy service meant that he left his caravan there and drove home with a loaded car!
OK, the facilities need updating but there is plenty of COVID safe gel etc. Plenty of signs to remind you of social distancing.
We were so chilled we only left the site twice between us. Once to collect fish and chips and then to collect burgers etc for an impromptu bbq. So, all in all. After many years of campervanning and being new to being 'stuck' in a chosen site for a break all I can say is "Wow, how lucky were we!?!).
Maybe I should have given a negative review so that we don't get over booked! lol. 10 minute drive from the seaside. A watersports park within 5 minutes drive. Lovely drive around Hackness Valley. So close to lot of seaside resorts.
Thanks Denise and Dave. Btw, had to put 5 for child friendliness because, at 68 years of age I am far past childhood and my grandchildren were not with us.

Great little site stopped here for long weekend, both Dave and Dennis are really friendly and are about everyday to make sure that you are ok, situated on beautiful mowed grass field with lots of space for about 10 units, surrounded by nature chickens come walking round the site there are sheep in the field with horses.
I went with friends we had 4 German Shepard dogs between us but it was great as there is a gate that leads straight out onto a pleasant walks, which follows the river so fantastic for the dogs to have a swim.
On site there is every thing that you need power 2 toilets his and hers and a shower which costs £1 but to honest you could shower a family the time you get, there are no shops on site but there is a spar about 10 min walk from site to village were you can get anything 2 pubs fish and chip shop.
One other thing what is good is that Dave does storage all year round, which is great as you ring up and when you get to site your caravan is on a pitch for you and when you go you just leave it and Dave puts it back in store for you, great idea if you cannot be doing with all that messing about stuff (ie) hacking up and setting up all in all great little site will be back there in September hopefully,
Only gave 9/10 for toilets not having hot water and in my opinion not a lot for young kids (ie) no perk but that did not bother me.

We spent 5 nights here with two of our children. Very nice site. Situated down a very quiet lane and over a small bridge, Very spacious pitches with EHU, on level, flat, manicured grass. The River Derwent (very small and shallow)runs around the outside of the site and pitches are sheltered on two side by tress.
It was extremely windy when we were there but we did not feel exposed.
The toilet block was clean and there is one toilet each for male and female and one shower to share (£1 for 12 minutes). We never had to wait for a shower or the toilet at a time when the site was about two thirds full.
There was no children's play park, but there was plenty of space in the middle of the grass to play games and unlike most places they were welcome to play ball games. Children can also play or wade in the river under supervision, which is for the most part very shallow.
The owner was extremely pleasant and was frequently on hand during the stay, not that we needed her. Whilst we were there a problem occured with the one toilet and her husband was there straight away to sort it out. We paid £20 per night all in for 4 of us with EHU during the third week in August and felt like we had received good value for money.
Scarborough is about five miles away and the site is well located to get on the road to Whitby or Filey. Also there are some really nice walks from the village and a small old castle that is free to visit, The Dalby Forest also very close.
In summary, a very pleasant, quiet site, reasonable facilities and good value for money. Will certainly visit again.
