Please note East Soar Outdoor Experience in no longer a camp site and do not allow any persons to pitch their own tent. They do not allow camper vans, caravans or dogs. Glamping only now.
If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

We LOVED East Soar Outdoor Adventure! We stayed for 5 nights in 1 of the pre-erected bell tents. The tent was spacious and had camp beds, an LED light and a rug. One of the great things about the site is there are only 6 tents in the field. This means there is lots of space and privacy. In fact, the whole site was quiet, secluded and very safe for children. The toilets and showers were pristine and a testament to the hard work of the owners. There was plenty for the kids to do: a bare foot run around the field, a wooden play area and lots of indoor and outdoor games. The children helped the owner to feed the pigs, chickens and sheep every day. There were also 2 donkeys, a pony, Daisy the dog and the farm kitten. The food was amazing! Each night dinner was cooked on an open fire/BBQ. Dinner consisted of meat from the local butcher, home-grown vegetables and salad and bread from a local bakery. The food far exceeded our expectations! Each night there was a camp fire where you could roast marshmallows and sit with a glass of wine. Overall it was a wonderful experience. The owners were so friendly and would do anything to help. We are definitely planning to go back next year. Even with the 12 hour drive from Scotland it was definitely worth it!

We have just come back from two nights at East Soar and it was amazing. Schalk and Marijke were so helpful, they had put the tent up for us, but as it was going to be a chilly night, they happily let us change to the barn. They lent us everything we needed, from wine glasses to a map of Salcombe. The facilities were excellent, really clean and in great condition. The log burning fire was lovely in the barn. Within ten minutes, you can walk to what I would describe as the best view in England. The food was excellent, we had our evening meals here and also enjoyed a wonderful piece of chocolate cake. Breakfast was just right too. We couldn't believe what good value it was either. We walked into Salcombe from East Soar, it's a really pleasant walk. If you don't want to walk the whole way to Salcombe, you can also get on a ferry for part of the way, but we enjoyed the walk. We enjoyed dinner outside both nights while we watched the lambs and cows - they are very entertaining! I really cannot rate East Soar enough. Thank you so much Schalk and Marijke, we will definitely be booking with you again next time we visit Salcombe!

East Soar Experience is one of those places that stays with you long after you have left. It really is a very beautiful and welcoming place.
We were looking for somewhere to go for our 6 month olds first holiday; we love camping but the idea of 'glamping' was more appealing with the little one.
From the moment we arrived we realised we had made the right decision because it had a quiet, calm and peaceful atmosphere.
The whole site (including showers and toilets) was so clean and well maintained; the tents were a really good size plus they had a cot for our baby.
The owners were very accommodating. We were unable to join everyone around the campfire because our baby was asleep so they brought a campfire to us, so we could enjoy it outside our tent. Nothing was ever an issue and they couldn't do enough for us.
The food provided exceed our expectations and we were pleasantly surprised every evening.
The site is in a really good location, there are some lovely walks direct from the campsite and the nearest beach is about 10 minutes in the car. The local town has a supermarket which took about 15 minutes in the car.
The site is perfect for families as there is an abundance of safe space for children to play.
Overall we had a wonderful holiday, we will most certainly return and would highly recommend a visit to East Soar.

We have just had a fantastic week at East Soar (extended as we were not ready to leave!). I feel more relaxed than I did after two weeks in Greece last year.
The food was delicious, we were greeted by a slow cooked lamb stew and fresh mackerel with potatoes, veg and bbq roasted butternut squash, fresh bread and salad. The children ate hearty portions each evening.
The scenery is stunning! East Soar is in a very peaceful location near to plenty of walks and driveable to lovely little coves and beaches: Hope Cove, South Milton and nearby Soar Mill Cove beaches plus National Trust house - Overbecks kept us busy.
Our young children had a ball; they played with other children and had the freedom to run around safely which helped us relax. Toasting marshmallows after dinner is an absolute hit and each morning the children of all ages 'helped' the owner feed the farm animals - chickens, pigs, sheep, goats and donkeys.
The yurt is spacious and light and the kids slept in til 8am each morning.
The farm would appeal to all, from young to older children and couples looking for a relax. Campers also get to benefit from the Walkers Cafe offering the owner's fantastic homemade cakes for sale to aid our cream tea addiction.
The owners are warm and relaxed hosts. They work incredibly hard, which is reflected by the immaculate condition of their farm.
We will be back again next year. Book early!

We camped at East Soar Farm for a week last year and were so impressed with it that we booked another week this year from which we have just returned.
I can only say how much we enjoyed our time there and it was a genuine pleasure to see the owners and their children again - plus Daisy their legendary Golden Retriever !
This farm is set in the most beautiful location, with donkeys and rare breed sheep in the outer fields, right by the majestic Devon coastline, with its many miles of coastline walking paths that offer the most stunning views. Salcombe is about a 15 minute drive away which has a great buzziness to it, lots of children crabbing, beaches, families sailing, little pubs, restaurants, dinky shops. Great if you want somewhere that offers a traditional English seaside holiday with a bit of class. Blackpool Sands beach, just up from Slapton Sands (where the WW2 D-Day landing practices took place - lots of history here), is a truly stunning beach and is about a 30 min drive. There are though lots of of smaller beaches dotted close by the farm which are well worth checking out - we had a great day at Hope Sands which is 5-10 mins away.
The facilities at the farm, namely the toilets and showers are worth mentioning here and were always kept immaculate, while the cakes served in the barn were delicious. The barn itself is very sweet and has a kind of rustic, vintage feel to it that makes it great fun to eat in. In the evening they cook fantastic food on the barbecue, such as roast chickens, sea bass and sausages with plenty of vegetables. We brought our own wine and were never left feeling hungry. This was all followed by marshmallows cooked on the fire which all the children seemed to love.
All in all - if you're looking for a camping holiday with a difference, somewhere to give children fantastic holiday memories, that is clean and hospitable, then I couldn't recommend this farm more. I for one have never seen anything as good as this - it is simply in my opinion as good as it gets. Very highly recommended !

I chose East Soar camp site for a bit of glamping before we set out for our rough camping in Cornwall. Hubby thought perhaps it was a bit pricey at £30 per adult and £25 per child but came away from East Soar saying that it was really value for money, we even got to extend our stay!
The view, the space, the beautiful cliff-top coastal walking paths, the superb dinners, top cleanliness, great shower rooms/toilets, nightly camp fire and roast marsh mellows, camaraderie amongst the kid campers, early morning chicken feeding, cosy playground with trampoline and the perfect hosts. Name it and you get them all here!
They are a perfect team working ever so hard round the clock to make the experience wonderful for their campers. Superb glamping and would gladly recommend it to the world. You'll walk away falling in love with the place.

We spent a lovely and peaceful August weekend in a bell tent here at East Soar. Our tent was pitched in a small open barn, offering some extra shelter from the elements as this summer has been very unpredictable, there is also a lovely open field where you can have your bell tent pitched.
There was a delicious home-cooked dinner waiting for us upon our arrival which we really enjoyed after our 5 hour journey. It was a real treat not to have to pitch the tent and cook the dinner!
We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable, the hosts are incredibly kind and thoughtful, providing a double mattress for us as an alternative to the camp beds in the tent as I was 5 months pregnant at the time. A rechargeable electric lantern is provided for the tent which was really useful. The tent was clean, spacious and cosy.
The location is fantastic, it is really rural and joins some amazing coastal walking paths which we really enjoyed. You really have a sense of being away from it all. There are cows in neighbouring fields, lots of lovely little birds, a cockerel (with morning cock-a-doodledoos), and a mellow farm dog. The track to the actual campsite is quite rugged with potholes which adds to the feel of being away from it all.
There are so many beautiful beaches nearby and also Salcombe is a short drive away so there is a choice of isolation or liveliness, depending on how your mood takes you.
The walkers hut is a charming place where breakfast, tea and cake and dinner is served. It's decorated with fairy lights and equipped with stylish cups, mugs, boden cafetieres, tea pots, fresh coffee, tea (also decaff tea and coffee available) and milk provided. There is a kettle, fridge, microwave and toaster.
We treated ourselves to lunch at the South Sands Hotel restaurant, it was excellent, we also had a great crab baguette at The Winking Prawn at North Sands.
Oh lastly, not to forget the showers are piping hot and spotlessly clean as are the toilets.
Great campsite, thoroughly recommended!

This was the first time my son had spent the night under canvas, so it was a special trip. It couldn't have gone better, despite some miserable Jubilee weekend weather. We were given such a warm welcome by both owners that the weather didn't matter.
We started on the field in a large bell tent, but after a very windy first night, transferred indoors to a smaller one pitched in an open barn. It was perfect. Clean, spacious and kitted out with camp beds and lanterns. All we needed was a sleeping bag. The shower block and toilets are the cleanest I've experienced, and are attended to conscientiously throughout the day.
Schalk and Mareike are relaxed but attentive, and they really care about you having a good stay. They are excellent with the kids, always patient and good-humoured, and create an atmosphere where you can quickly wind down and enjoy the outdoors. At one point I needed to dry my son's trousers, and Mareike immediately helped out with her tumble dryer.
The evening meals are a real treat, with barbecued meat and veg and even some marshmallows to toast. The Walkers' Hut is a great gathering place for both campers and passers-by, where you can make hot drinks, eat delicious cake or just read and play games.
With everything on hand, there was no need to get in the car, which in itself was a great break. I took my son on the ferry from South Sands to Salcombe, which he loved, and we did a 6-mile round trip to Soar Mill Cove up the coast, a stunning beach set in a very picturesque coastline. Even in adverse weather, the open fields and sea had an immediate charm. Back on the site, Schalk has a chest of rugby balls, footies and assorted sports kit, so it was so easy to keep my son occupied - he slept like a log!
Schalk and Mareike take a real pride in their work, and everything about this campsite reflects that. Their delightful children, the very amiable Daisy the dog, and just everything about their easy-going kind-heartedness adds immeasurably to the stay.
I can't recommend this site enough, both for first-time campers like my son, but also for seasoned campers who want a good balance between glamping and camping.

What a wonderful site! The owners cannot do enough for you. Due to the time of year we had one of their bell tents located just inside an open barn so it was nice a shielded from the elements. We also had a lovely heater in the tent, which was ideal given the weather/temperature.
The facilities are excellent with fantastic hot showers and clean toilets, and though there are no washing machines, we had our little boy's clothes washed and dried for us - wonderful!
The food is great and Schalk prepares and cooks it to suit the day's timetable - ie. when you want it. The idea is that this is an easy way to go camping and all you need to take is a sleeping bag as it is all prepared for you.
The barn where the cafe is also great, and the cakes are excellent.
Location wise it's very easy walking distance from Salcombe and about a 5 min stroll to the South Coast path - a stunning coastline - and 30 min walk to South Sands beach.
I would totally recommend it and will be returning. Our two year old loved eating breakfast whilst watching the cows and then playing with daisy the dog. A great week!
