Please note we have been advised that this site is now permanently closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

This site is a working farm The facilities are basic (water hook up and Elson waste point disposal and toilet) The field has good shelter around the edges and is easy to get on and off with the caravan.

It is a beautiful quiet site no traffic noise and there is no light pollution. The farmer is easy going and is there if you call him but very much leaves you to enjoy the peace and quiet.

The location is perfect It is 5 minutes from the Cricketers pub excellent food and very welcoming to us and also our dogs. It is a dog walk to the Harrow inn another lovely country pub. It is an easy trip to the Watercress line for steam train enthusiasts.

We had a lovely 10 days there and would highly recommend it if you want a break to get away from it all and enjoy the countryside

Very basic site. Nice view but you need to be completely self contained.

The dust bins were overflowing and the single portaloo didn't flush and was not for the faint hearted.

Could do better with a bit of thought.

Camped for 2 nights at the end of May 2016.

The good.

The location is secluded, quiet and in a pretty valley. No deposit was required.

Some fantastic bacteria in the portaloo to study - if that is your thing.

The Bad

The site is hard to find with no sign at the entrance.

The hard standing is unattractive loose gravel with three or so permanent (working ?) resident caravans.

The grass area is quiet boggy, with long grass and mainly on a slope. (Easy to get stuck)

The electric supply is very basic and water and chemical disposal only adequate.

The toilet is a plastic portaloo, in a condition you would expect at the end of a music festival. Not for the faint hearted and no possibility of washing your hands afterwards as there is no soap or running water in the loo.

We would not recommend the site, but unfortunately there is very little choice in the area. If you must stay there then at least you have been informed.

£16 is tooooo expensive for the what is on offer.

Re some of the other positive reviews - I think they are reviewing the wrong site by mistake, because they mention a shower ??

Nice site. Large field for the kids to play in. Grass has been cut recently. Toilets and showers block clean. Two fields lots of water taps and electric hook up points around the site.

New manager Andy helpful but not on site till the evenings but only been there a week.

Found some nice walks for myself and the dog. Camp fire on the ground so I was able to cook over the fire.

Only problems I would say was the sign not very big as I went straight pass the site entrance and once on the site very narrow lane with no real passing points.

Lthough its a basic site just how I like it price was only £10 a night. We picked this site as it was close to the paintball site. Which was great.

I'm leaving this review so you know what to expect before you book/arrive as often if expectations are not met, bad reviews are unfairly left. We are a family who basically camp in a caravan, all we need is electric and a shower so this site met our needs. If you are expecting hanging baskets at the arrivals lodge and a centrally heated shower block you will be disappointed! However, if you want a field with a hook up or a bit of field to yourself and your tent near to Alton and in a good location for Winchester etc then this may suit you.

Once you have inevitably missed the turning for the site and turned around in the Angel pub down the road (after a heated discussion with your spouse about turning circles) and managed to find the entrance I would recommend getting someone to walk up the lane before you drive up with your caravan in case anyone is coming the other way as it's a bit narrow, overgrown and steep.

When we arrived other half went in search of someone/anyone to check in with and a bloke with numerous family members who was really helpful. He seems to stay there over the summer to collect fees etc, and his sister cleans the shower block (shed), and very clean it was too. He said they are hoping the people in the static behind the site might take over some maintenance and they keep asking for the grass to be cut so you never know, this simple cheap site might up its game a bit.

Yes the grass is long, yes, there are some random vehicles dotted around, but we liked it.

We stayed for a couple of nights at Woodside Farm (same place as Ridge Farm). It is a very quiet site up a long track - basically camping in a field but each pitch has its own water and hook-up. Friendly staff and only £16/night (and by the way they don't take plastic), but as ever you get what you pay for. No mention on the website that there was a group of 'residents' there, with work vans etc!

Small toilet block (clean) but only one shower and WC in each of male and female - also separate flush toilet in 'portaloo' cabin. Didn't see (or hear) any of the wildlife mentioned on the website, but no light pollution so good for seeing stars. On balance would probably not visit again.

We spent a lovely weekend at ridge farm. The owner is very friendly and has a collection of vintage tractors which he has offered to show David on our next visit. We enjoyed our stay though a little windy. The views are beautiful and we look forward to our next visit. The historic market town of Petersfield has a new lidl opened. There are pubs nearby that serve food. On the A3M is the Queen Elizabeth country park which is a great place to exercise your dogs

Camped for 4 nights at the end of may 2014. Found that the camping field had very long (wet) grass. There were a few of what looked like 'cow pats' as well as paving slabs in the camping field. We visited the single toilet provided, it was very dirty and smelly with a lot of spiders webs and litter inside. The refuse bins were full. The Electric Hook Up shared with another unit worked ok. The cold water tap 2 foot from the electric outlets worked ok.

The hard standing had what looked like 2 permanent units in place. (both had large flower pots - one was growing potatoes!)

At the entrance lane there was a part weed covered sign from Camping Club or Camping and Caravan Club - site not shown on these club websites.

On the morning when we were getting ready to leave, the site owner did make contact with us. He said the cost to us was £70, he did not make eye contact, but did comment that the grass was growing quickly !

The local pub - 'The Cricketers' was closed up when we walked to it one evening.

Countryside has nice views and is good for country walks.

We paid, and left thinking that this was one of the worse/badly maintained camp sites we had ever stopped at !

Wish I could give it 0 out of 10 !

We have just returned from the woodside farm campsite. Its a fairly big site consisting of 2 large fields, plenty of room. Lots of water taps and electric hookbups installed and basic but good clean toilets and showers. Great site if you just want to kick back and relax, the kids had loads of fun on the tree swings!

1 word of warning the ground is incredibly hard and rocky under the surface so rock pegs are an absolute must!

Would definitely return
