 We have stayed at this campsite on three occasions, the first time was a quite noisy weekend and the other two were quite quiet in the week, we would definitely go in the week if possible as it was quiet and relaxing but the weekend we stayed was very noisy with a lot of young drunk groups. The location is absolutely perfect, right next to the beach with a lovely 2 minute walk through the sand dunes to the beach. Price is pretty expensive for very basic facilities, we were charged the same price for a child as we were for an adult.
The facilities on the site are very basic, portacabins for toilets and showers which weren't always clean and we found that people that weren't staying on the campsite used the toilets and showers as there is a public footpath that runs right through the site from the beach. The camping fields were generally flat and clean and you can choose where you pitch your tent, be choosy about where you camp as the site is quite open to the elements and as we found out when hurricane Burtha hit, the winds come straight off the beach right up through the camping fields, there are some sheltered areas mainly in the top field.
You can use the facilities in the large Ruda Holiday park next door which has a pool, shop etc. There is no electric hook up at this site.
Staff were friendly and helpful but very laid back.
Overall a great location next to the beach with very basic facilities.

Our second stay at this site, primarily because it is just so close to the beach - less than 5 min walk and you're on it! Perfect for surfing children. It's also only a short 10 min walk up in to the village, which is handy for pubs and shops.
The site is a gently sloping meadow with short grass where you are allowed to pitch yourselves wherever you like; no orderly rows here, which is great.
The wash block facilities are excellent and have always been very clean. Staff have always been friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Whilst the site has been busy it seems they try to avoid overcrowding by opening up other fields and it always feels spacious.
Consequently it's not necessarily the cheapest campsite available, but it does make for a very easy holiday/break, without any hassles and children moaning about walking too far.

Visited here over the busy August bank holiday weekend. I was concerned before visiting as this is the most expensive campsite I know! £15 per person per night plus 4. 50 for a car. The location is perfect, less than a 5min walk to the beach. Ideal to carry surf boards.
The site itself is 3 different fields, all flat. You can pitch up wherever you want. Ideal for groups, but do not visit if you are expecting a chilled out, quite campsite! Very busy, and lots of people playing music late into the night.
Portakabins for toilets. So busy that they are unable to keep them clean all of the time. Unfortunately the showers were cold/with a hint of warm water! Not what you want after a day in the sea. As so many people were using them, they blocked up really quickly, so ended up standing in a water filled shower tray. (Supposedly this does not happen when its quieter).
Ideal for groups. Not a campsite for a quiet weekend.

Very noisy campsite this campsite is right on the beach so we thought it would be great we were wrong the field became packed mainly with large groups of youngsters. The noise kicked off at1 am when loads of drunks came back to campsite falling into tents and shouting it finally started to settle at 2ish when to my astonishment a car parked next to us and started to pitch a tent I got out of bed an asked them what they were doing and they told me they had permission so I marched up to security to be told that yes they had been told they could pitch up. It finally became quiet at 4. 30. In the morning we moved.
The only good thing about this site was they gave us a full refund
This was basically a field with a block off Porto loos clean in the day but by the morning filthy. With vomit blood etc
If you love to party all night then it's for you if not try one off the other campsites because croyde has a lovely beach and pretty town.

Myself and a group of 15 went to this campsite for a 2 night break.
The campsite was a little difficult to find as you have to drive through a housing estate to find the private road that takes you to the site. CAUTION - The private road is awful and ground the bottom of our car as we negotiated the massive potholes.
The campsite was clean although a little basic. It was basically just a field. It cost £11 per person per night and £4.50 per night for the car. The rules have changed somewhat and you can now park your car next to your tent which is handy as it would be a trek from the car to the pitch.
The facilities were portacabins, 2 toilet cabins and 1 shower block per sex. These didn't seem to be cleaned in the 2 nights that we stayed but did stay relatively clean. The showers were hot and free. There are no facilities so washup any cooking equipment that you may use.
The site itself is close to the beach, a 2 minute walk through the dunes to the beach. In the other direction, a 5 minute walk takes you to the village. In the village you will find very expensive pubs, I paid £4.55 for a pint of local cider which I felt was very expensive. The area is pleasant and there are a couple of cafes that offer a nice breakfast at tourist prices.
All in all it was a great break, a little pricey for the site but we only stayed 2 nights. I would recommend this site for tents and short breaks but be warned, take plenty of cash!

I tried to stay at this site but walked away because of the price. However, I'm submitting a review because I walked through the campsite every day on 2 different stays, and dealt with the staff, so hopefully this info will be useful to someone. It might save you the same inconvenient drive down a long, stony lane to find out the same info! (I had tried to find out by phone but had no luck).
Surfer's Paradise camping is a field with a small block of portable loos and showers in it, and a portacabin where they take your money. It is level (which many of the cheaper Croyde campsites aren't) and lots of very brave rabbits hop about in the surrounding fields. It is beside the footpath to the beach - walk through some sand dunes and you're on the beach at the West end of Croyde, where the river runs into the sea. I like this end because I have small children and they like to play where the river runs across the sand. It's a very long walk to the waves this way and the hardcore surfers seem to mostly hang out on the East end of the beach, where there is road access and a café. There are other campsites nearer that end, too. The site has the potential to be child-friendly just in terms of proximity to the dunes and the safer part of the beach - I had fond ideas of the kids being able to take themselves off to play on the dunes while I got breakfast.
I turned up keen to camp at Surfer's Paradise, but found that they wanted me to pay £75 a night to camp in a field with portaloos, in my single tent. Yep, you read that right. They asked for £15 a night and I said OK, that's per adult presumably. No, it was per person. What, surely not including babies and toddlers? Yes! I can understand them perhaps not wanting sprogs there, but it wasn't even as if there appeared to be a happening scene for surfers going on - Croyde's pubs are the place for that - so as you'll probably be heading up to the village to socialise in the evening, you might find it easier to camp nearer to the village too.
So, great if you just want a crash pad close to the beach, lovely if you want to watch the rabbits - but zero flexibility for families.

I LOVE the name of this campsite. Myself and a good friend of mine decided to head down to croyde for the weekend from our busy work life in sticky old London and try and catch some light summer waves. £15 pounds per person per night and £4.50 for the car. We were thinking 'ok, expensive for a campsite so it must come with good showers, etc'
After parting from our hard earned cash we were directed to sit in our car and follow a guy who was going to show us our spot. Now what I love about camping is usually you are allowed to pretty much put your tent up where you want, it usually consists of you and your mates driving around the field in circles, arguing about where to pitch. This was not the case.
As we were being slowly walked to the 'spot', my friend commented on how it was like being marched at our own funeral. People were looking at us from outside with that 'we have all been there' expressions on there faces. We pulled up and were shown to an 'X' painted on the floor. Seriously! We were then asked kindly to unpack what we needed from the car and to then drive the car back up the field and park it in there designated car area. The tent had to be pitched on top of the 'X'.
We got the giggles and decided to pitch our tent next to our 'X', rebel out and push some boundarys. As we were doing so, a guy next to us asked if he could not be in the middle of the field and rather that they pitched next to there friends under the trees in the corner, as they were all on holiday together. This request was declined as apparently his tent was too big to go under the trees.
We very quickly found out that there were two blocks of porter cabins with toilets in. One block which had showers in. No wash basins to wash your plates/cups in. I was directed to a single cold water tap in the field to wash my cups. But decided to use the porter cabin sinks as they had hot water but also hairs and other nasty things in them.
No fires, No dogs, No proper washing facilities. Just a field of 'X's. On a plus note, we found that everybody did just get on with it and it gave us plenty of material to giggle about. We had a bbq and headed for the dunes for the sunset, drank some wine and listened to some music. Thats the good thing about Surfers paradise, the location!
We caught some fun waves and headed back to London on the Sunday. We decided that we would not return to 'paradise' to camp next time in croyde. But we do both have warm memories of that weekend and good stories.
I would recommend everyone tried it at least once. If the waves are flat, at least you could have fun watching peoples expressions as they are putting up there tents!

Location is about the only thing this campsite has going for it.
Surfers paradise is in a great location, a 5 minute walk to the beach and the same into the village.
However, the £15 per person per night charge and £4.50/day parking fee is obscene considering the standard of facilities available. The lane going down to the campsite is full of potholes and likely to flood if it rains, we scraped the bottom of our car whilst driving down. When we arrived we were given a double sided page of rules and regulations and you are asked to wear a scratchy plastic surfers paradise wristband for the duration of your stay - although these weren't checked once so it seemed slightly over the top.
The portakabin toilets smelt awful and although the showers couldn't be faulted - they were hot and there was no waiting around - they didn't look like they were cleaned over the weekend.
There was no sufficient place to wash up pots and pans which meant a lot of people were doing it in the toilet sinks which created problems when the toilets were busy. There is one cold tap outside in the campsite.
Overall, the campsite facilities were basic but passable - my main grumble would have to be the price, out of our group of four people they raked in £120 in camping fees for two nights and £18 in carparking.

This site has got to be one of the most expensive going considering what little they offer, it's true they are close to the beach. They charged me £130 for 2 nights (2 adults & 2 children in a VW camper) The fields all slope, there were no hook up's, the toilets were the same on Sunday Morning as they had been on Saturday pretty disgusting. I wanted to leave, but they refuse to give a refund for what ever reason, so had to stay.This site has rules for everything, no awnings, no candles, no dogs, no noise, and so on.

Great campsite for young people, very near the beach and full of life. Hot showers and clean facilities. There is a Very nice pub in the village but it can get very busy at peak times, so be prepared to wait. The site is easy to reach along A roads.
Beautiful scenery along the coast and nice walks. The Beach is fantastic with great surfing.There is a take away food outlet within an easy short walk serving pizza burgers and chips which makes for a nice break to camping food.
