 Nice river view, dogs are allowed, friendly people in pub tucked between the two bridges and that's about it really.
Very dated and in need of major investment in pitches and toilet/shower block. It's about a 600m round trip to get rid of the rubbish and whilst dogs are allowed there are NO dog bins anywhere!
The washing up area is one old dirty half wrecked ss sink in an open ended shed.
Would I use again, well yes, but only as a stop over when I can't get anything else.

What a little “Gem” - after reading reviews about near death experience and access slope we nearly over looked this site, what a miss that would have been !
Yes the approach road has a slope and be aware of bump at the top on left hand side but if you read the road it presented no problem to a 8 M motorhome towing a small car.
Lovely friendly welcome, gorgeous views of the river, had choice of pitches and choose pitch 2 which in our opinion was perfect Beside the river watching fish rise and trout jumping along side the heron catching his dinner and the sandpiper in the shallows.
You can hear the traffic from the A69 in the distance but not enough to interfere with the peace, quiet and tranquility and the sound of running water.
Showers and and toilets very clean with copious amounts of hot water, had to turn down as too hot !
5amp supply hasn’t caused us a problem, as have satellite, 2 x tv, kettle and fridge, running hot water and van heating on gas.
Local village 5 mins walk, 2 nice pub restaurants and a social club which is very welcoming to families, cheap drinks and very friendly.
Hadrian’s wall and various attractions very close.
Village has a nice size coop and post office.
All facilities and grounds immaculately kept, will be returning if ever this way again, great spot for a stopover on way to or from Scotland.
Thank you very much we very much enjoyed our stay and sorry that it’s time to move on towards home

A short drive to Haydon Bridge from Whitley Bay to give the motorhome a run out after wintering up. Found site no bother - entrance a bit of a short sharp drop but take it easy and it's ok. Very neat small site running parallel with the River South Tyne. Warden nice bloke - showed where everything was and our pitch. Apologetically advised it was 5 amp mains, but as we don't use enough current to have to run a cable direct off a National Grid overhead power line there was no problem. Shower block and toilets dinky but fine.
Beautiful location by the river with plenty of wildlife.
Short walk into Haydon Bridge - pubs, shops and take aways. The 'Haydonian' social club was selling pints for extremely reasonable prices!
This would make an excellent base for people touring the area from other parts of the country, with Hadrian's Wall, the Northumberland Coast and Newcastle City all within an hours drive.
P. S if you want to visit Newcastle by car, head for the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel - turn off at the Shiremoor slip road and head for the Park and Ride at Northumberland Park Metro station. £1. 00 parking all day, the station is just across the road and you can get a 20 min metro train journey into the city centre without the traffic and parking hassle!

Firstly, trying to get into this site is extremely tricky. A near death slope (not easy with tourer!). Lovely location on a river. Pitches very uneven.
The worst bit though. Hook up is 5AMP! We couldn't use our heater, had to use our gas and with 2 young kids refused to leave it on so had 2 very cold mornings to wake up to! Shower.
Water was warm but facility absolutely freezing. I really wasn't that impressed. Free fishing if that's your thing.
Not good for young families as no barrier to river.

Stayed here for Friday and Saturday night in Tourer with electric hookup. Site on the banks of the river Tyne, a very picturesque spot with touring pitches with hookup on well maintained pitches right next to the river.
About 10 minutes stroll to Haydon Bridge with a Co-op, fish and chip shop and several 'pub/restaurants'.
The owner informed us it's the oldest caravan site in the valley, set up in 1946.
A well maintained site and showers and loos very clean.
Handy base to explore Hadrian's Wall.
Bring plenty of bread to feed the very friendly ducks!

Lovely little site by the river and within walking distance of Haydon Bridge.
Friendly owner who keeps the site immaculate.
There a couple of decent pubs, a Co-op and a chippy in the village.
Excellent base for Hadrians's Wall.

We haven't used this site before so just booked for 3 days. We will be back for longer soon! Excellent site, quiet and with great showers and toilet facilities. Really friendly owners. We had a lovely riverside pitch.
Local shops and pubs within walking distance, and a good bus service to surrounding areas from Haydon Bridge. Only a 20 min drive to Hadrian's Wall and other attractions.

Quite a hidden gem this site! Lovely, peaceful riverside location, spotlessly clean facilities and all for £17ppn peak season.
We went Saturday of May bank holiday for a spur of the moment getaway.
The owner was great and put us close to the loos as we had our 3 year old with us, ( when he has to go, he has to go!)
We will definitely return and stop longer next time!

A lovely site! The whole site was well maintained and presented.
Facilities were excellent: Toilets were clean, showers hot, washing up facilities good, as well as a book and dvd library, there was a climbing frame for children, picnic table, and plenty of nice views of the river and the ducks.
It is a little cramped, but this was not a problem as it wasn't fully booked. There was good food at the Anchor (1/2 mile into town, if that), and easy access to Hadrian's Wall.
There is a Co-op in the town, as well as a chemist and takeaway.

We stayed here for three nights. It is a very pleasant site on the edge of the South Tyne with a lovely flock of very tame mallards. There is room for about 12 touring pitches between the statics (a small number) and the river.
The toilet block is clean and the shower is very good. It is a short, pleasant walk to the middle of Haydon Bridge along a quiet back lane.
No specific facilities for children but plenty of space for them to play. The river is good for fishing - adults only. Very nice base for exploring this area by car, cycle or walking.
The station with a regular train service to Newcastle is a 10-15 min walk across the river.
