Visited this site on speck as travelled down from berwick campsite which we had stayed for 3 nights - lovely site by riverside a little narrow so as previous comments may not be great if large party and you wanted to crowd round tent, however just us and another family so it was fine also children all over 8 years old so river not a problem-
nice clean toilets and 17 pounds very reasonable including electric hook up-
visited Anchor Hotel for both evening meals and these were superb very good value and would definitely recommend this site

We stayed at this site last week and found it very nice,
Over the weekend we had the grand kids the rest of the week it was just the 2 of us and pip our dog,
We found the owner very friendly the site is very clean and tidy the only problem we had was it rained all week.
I will go back to this site (soon I hope)
Never had any problems with the ducks making a noise on a morning like most comments on here hinted at.
If this site had a washer it would be perfect, that was the only down fall you cant do washing or put a line up.

A little gem of a site tucked down by the river. It's quite tight for space between the bank and the river, so not ideal for those groups who like to congregate round one spot, but if you're looking for a quiet, well priced, tidy site then this is for you, although I would agree with another reviewer about the dawn chorus!
My children slept through it though so it mustn't have been that loud. Lots of visits from ducks and geese and also the swallows were spectacular, also fishing available on site if that is your thing.
Not much going on in Haydon Bridge but Hexham is just up the road and you are very well placed for the Roman Wall, Carlisle or Newcastle.
Definitely recommended for those who like a quiet site and we will be returning

This site has a fabulous setting, right on the riverbank. It is mainly for statics, but has about 11 pitches for tents, tourers or camper vans.
There is not much in Haydon Bridge (only a short walk), and on a Bank Holiday weekend, if you fancy a meal in the pubs, you need to book.
There are washing-up facilities with liquid provided. Loos had paper also, but some of the neighbours weren't very clean or tidy. The toilet and shower (singular for each gender) were reasonably clean (again more to do with other people, than the owner).
Electric hook-ups are available.
There is a small play area for children and picnic benches if you want to sit and enjoy the view.
This site is well priced and with regular visits from ducks and geese, I would recommend it.

A small, crowded but very pleasant site. Primarily set for statics and, as a result, there is only enough for about 10 pitches - but don't be put off.
The very pleasant town itself is but a short walk away but don't expect a hooching metropolis with 24 hour shops. Everything will be shut by 5.30 and the solitary Co-Op by about 8.
The site itself might be tight but it is still very pleasant. Well kept, nicely set and in a very nice location right next to the river. The toilet blocks are nice and kept very clean but might be considered to be on the small side.
Downsides? One major one. If you are a light sleeper who is easily woken by the dawn chorus....... Wear ear plugs!

We were lucky to get into the campsite over the Bank Holiday weekend when we rang at the last moment; the owners were able to fit us onto a temporarily vacant static site which did us nicely.
The campsite has a good position next to the Tyne and it's only a few minutes walk into the village of Haydon Bridge which has pubs, a cashpoint, a minimarket and a railway station. We had a nice evening at The Railway Inn.
The site's well positioned as well for Hadrian's Wall and for Hexham (a great town! The Forum Cinema is well worth supporting!)
I would say that the facilities are the weakest point of this campsite - when the campsite was full they might have been stretched to cope as there weren't many toilets and showers. Also, the water in the taps was incredibly hot, which was rather dangerous and definitely offputting.
One other point, the rubbish bins were a long way off at the site entrance and there didn't seem to be any kind of recycling available at all, which is disappointing these days.

Stayed two nights with our dog
Lovely, peaceful and picturesque.
Tents are in a great spot lined up along the bank of the River tyne. Each plot has plenty of room and the toilets/showers are clean and well kept. Haydon Bridge is now a quiet town with the feel of a country village. There are three good pubs each offering a good selection of food. Decent sized Co-op, Paper shop, Butchers and a Pet Shop! A chippy & an Indian take-away.
We will be back!

Spent two overnights here to break up a journey.
Found the place clean and the people friendly.
It's a short walk into the village where you will find the usual amenities Indian/ Chinese takeaways and a chippy. The Anchor Hotel serves good value well priced meals.
Hope to spend a little longer here in the future.

Very Nice site. Small site but clean and very friendly people, owners and statics. Pitches run along side the river which was nice to see. There must of been a small park there some time ago, would of been nice to still be there, or even somewhere for the kids to play. Nice walk into Hayden Bridge (about 15mins) nothing there tho, just nice walk! I would return to this site well priced and very friendly

August 2004 The pitches on this site are right next to the river which is fast flowing and down the slope. Having said that our kids aged 7 and 8 were fine - your vehicle, caravan or tent is at the edge with the road on the other side. We were in our 24ft motorhome which we could just about get round the corners in. The site is fine but no shop and it is a bit of a walk back to the coop but nothing major!
Reasonably priced site - Haydon Bridge is in a great position to access Hadrians Wall. We went to Vindolanda which on our OS map said is owned by English Heritage - it isn' so you have to pay to go in - about £11.
We rang the site in the morning and were lucky to get in as it was Bank Holiday but we did get in for two nights - so no maximum stay rule! Deb
