Site was very picturesque and well maintained. All facilities were clean.

Reception area/coffee shop was lovely and very welcoming as were the staff.

Good location for seeing the sites by car although there is a bus service next to Dobbie's Garden Centre.

Only negatives I have are there are no dish washing facilities and the park is not very well lit at night.

 Lovely site, centrally located.

Disappointed that the toilets at the touring block were never cleaned in the time we were there. The disabled toilet had no hand wash, no hand drying facility or bin. This was the only negative.

The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Nice site beside ayr, clean quiet & friendly. Not many spaces left for visiting tourers as majority of spaces taken by resident vans. Toilets are clean but bring your own toilet paper as there was none for 2 days. Couldn't find any bins so used the ones in the kids playpark. Electricity went off during the night, seems it requires a power card, meter read NO Credit !.

I have just returned from Croft head Head holiday Park. A large site Predominately with private static owners. The caravan itself was of an excellent standard. A steep slope is used to gain access to some caravans. Which could prove unsuitable for disabled or customers with mobility problems

The site a quiet site only a 2 mile drive into the charming sea-side town of Ayr.

Only a small camping field for tents with no availability for electrical hook ups as seen. ( a patch of grass next to the children play ground). Touring caravans on hard standing. Toilet block small but well maintained and cleaned regularly.

The only downside to this site is the building work that is being carried out at the moment on the terrace to the rear of the site. Large dumper trucks and mechanical diggers working from 8am in the morning to 7. 00pm at night.

The area for tents was small, gently sloping and next to the swingpark, but the site was very quiet the weekend we were there, so this was no problem.

The staff on the site were very nice.

There are two swingparks - one for toddlers, one for slightly older kids, and both were very good.

There is a small shop, open until late afternoon, and it seemed well stocked with the essentials.

The toilet block was well maintained and clean, and had one shower in the gents side. There was also a separate shower block with two separate showers. These were a little disappointing - they could have been cleaner, the floor got very wet, and there was no hanging space for towels and clothes.

The tent area was also fairly close to the septic tank, which got pretty rank in the evening and in the morning.

Overall, a nice site; well run and maintained and good facilities for kids.

We stayed at Crofthead over half term with our 6 and 2 year old boys. Booked the caravan at the last minute via Hoseasons and were really pleased with it. Very clean and modern home from home with all the kitchen equipment you could need. LCD TV with free view & DVD player.
We were only on site in the mornings and evenings and found it to be very quiet indeed - probably because Scottish schools were not on holiday. Would definitely go again as a base for exploring aryeshire.
Having said that as fair weather campers I would not be too happy with the strip of grass for camping on. It had been raining, but was boggy to walk on and very small, in the centre of the site. Until I read a previous review I thought that it was a bit of grass for kid to play on!

The ground was excellent to pitch a tent but camping area is on the small side. Only room for about ten tents. The area for tents is right beside the play park which is great if you have kids. We were surrounded by caravans which makes you feel like your on show!
The toilets were ok but no baby changing. I felt £18 a night was a bit steep for what they were offering. The shop on site was well stocked and all the residents were very pleasant. The site is in a good location for exploring Ayr town.
Having said all that I would go back again as our overall stay was very good.

Crofthead caravan park we found was a bit dissapointing, we were told it was a peace and quiet park and it was the complete opposite.

Caravan was new for 2007 but the carpets were stained, the DVD player was not working and the oven kept knocking it self off, we told site owners about the problems that we found on numorous occassions but nothing was done.

The site though was in a perfect location to explore southern Scotland and the sites shop was stocked with all the nessesary essentials.

Site is close to the bustling town of Ayr with vibrant shops and pubs.

We found a car was essential to make the most of our holiday, and I would defently recomend a visit over to the isle of Arran during your visit.

Southern Scotland has a lot to offer and for your first trip to Scotland it is an ideal start.

Caravan site seemed pleasent on our first approach.

Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, the campsite is on a big slope, which can see many tents soaked after heavy rain, so make sure u go to the other end.

However, we were staying in a caravan. The picture from the Hoeseasons brochure was not the type of caravan we received however, and later learned that the caravan featured in the pictures was a privately owned caravan of a senior member of staff at the site. Just be warned as one of the reasons we liked the look of the park was the view we would get and the garden furniture that was supposed to be included.

The caravan was clean in side and have no complaints there.

Unfortunately this is where having no complaints would stop. After feeling lied to over the description of the caravans which were for let, the holiday did feel less special.

The local area is superb however, and would recommend Ayr to anyone. The beach was clean and had plenty of amenities and the nightlife in the town centre was first class, with something to suit families and older couples too.

As the other reviewer says, this is a site that is developing - Gordon McCormack and his family are investing in the site and work was ongoing when we visited.

The site is pleasant with a lot of statics and long term residents but campers, tourers and campervans/motorhomes are made more than welcome.

The facilities are clean and the shop is well stocked. We ran out of gas (907s) which they didn't stock and Gordon was more than willing to drive and fetch some for us - though we fetched it ourselves from the Ayr Caravan Club site - you don't get this service at many sites do you?

The kids play area is okay, camping areas a little unlevel but, when the place it quiet - boy is it quiet.

Enjoy your stay!
