Brilliant camp site for camping! £6 per person brilliant for couples who enjoy basic camping. Free little table to put BBQ on or just use as table.
Clean toilets and wash basin. Big outside water and washing up points. No hot water but why you need hot. Your camping!
I loved it. Owners really lovely too. No booking required. If you have massive tents and vans and loads of kids go next door to big site. Keep this site just as it is.
Love it. Will be back.

Liked: place, landscape, nearby sites. All lovely.
Disliked: A few noisy campers that ruined the night asleep for many. Some set up a nightclub between their vans with music, lights and everything. Some were chatting loudly, their children shouting too. I didn't get to sleep until very late and my daughter woke up several times. As a result we couldn't enjoy the next day properly. Too bad. The site would have been great.
Maybe it can be fixed with earplugs but. I was expecting a relaxed and "natural" atmosphere.

It's a big field with basic toilet/washing facilities (don't think there is any hot water), but it's great! Fantastic value for a sole camper (£6 for the night - bargain! Think it starts to be a bit expensive for a family though since it is £6 per person, so if you have a couple with 3 children, it'd be £30 a night and I think I'd want more facilities for that).
I didn't use the facilities, but the friends I was with were in tents and they said that they were spotless.
Can't fault the owner either - he was so helpful. Jump started one of our party's car for them, and tested it for them to make sure the alternator was working. Towed me out when I parked in the wrong place (it was soft in spots, but it has been a very wet month. It was fine where I parked on my second attempt). If I could give 11 for customer service, I would!
It was bank holiday Friday, but there was still space left when I left on Saturday morning.

Great site for a couple of nights no showers but toilets are clean and are also cleaned often, as well as the bins around the site which are emptied regularly, loads of sanitizer around for you to use.
Pub literally next door.
Campfires are allowed and they even provide an oil drum 🛢 for you fo use which is excellent.
Would definitely go again. Great stay.

Lovely campsite with plenty of space. Simple but clean facilities, ideal for a short stay.
Plenty of hand sanitizers everywhere.
Really close to a pub which serves food and drinks outdoors as well.

Stayed for 2 nights early September 2016. On arrival the Campsite rules/instructions are posted on the entry gate. Pitch where you like (within the permitted areas, separate area for DofE), then the Warden will arrive.
Not many rules; dogs are allowed, tethered on site, pick up after them and no open fires £4. 50 p/person p/night. Shortly after we arrived, the very friendly warden arrived.
The site is basic offering cold water for washing up, 2 toilets with basins per sex. The toilets were very clean & there was plenty of loo roll. The site notice board ( at the washing up station) was full of useful information on the local area & nearby attractions.
The campsite is behind a pub, it's close to the local shop, on the opposite side of the road there is another campsite that sells gas. Down the road from the campsite there is a Tourist Information facility and Tea Room, they sell teas, a huge variety of cakes and savouries, the Tea Room also has information on the local area, it is stocked with games and activities for children (good on a rainy day)
If your after a 'no-frills' campsite set in beautiful countryside (10 miles from Leek), this is the campsite for you. We chose this campsite because of the access to the Manifold Trail, great for cycling & walking alike. There is a road next to the campsite, that has light traffic during the day, you're more likely to hear more from the nearby sheep than the traffic. When we visited we were joined on both days by some friendly ducks, they just flew down and waddled over to us!
We left mid afternoon on our 2nd day, there are no pitching/de-camping time restrictions other than no arrivals after 9pm. During our stay there were only 3 other tents, a caravan and a campervan. We will definitely be re-visiting this campsite again and highly recommend this site as the perfect place to get away from modern life and all the associated stresses! On that note, phone reception isn't great, there's no wifi and 4G isn't great either. That's typical of camping in a valley though. Personally I turn my phone off when camping!

Camped in a tent late August bank holiday. Set up at mid-day and the friendly warden arrived at around 9 PM to collect the £4. 50 (per person per night). The area was a little muddy due to the rain.
Campsite has a toilet block and drinking water, but no hot water. The area has good walking routes within 10 miles for hikers due to it being situated in the peak district
There is a pub (manifold inn) next door where food and drinks can be acquired.
Campsite is reasonably big and was not overly busy despite the bank holiday. Good value for £4. 50 per person if you are willing to 'rough it' without many facilities.

What a little gem!
Fantastic campsite right at the start of the Manifold Trail. 2 minute drive into Hartington too. Lovely visitor centre at the start of the trail.
I visited just for 1 night to try out my new tent.
All facilities basic but good. Lovely position with local pub serving food right next door.
Great value for money at £4. 50 per night.
You can arrive at any time and I got there at about 11. By 3pm the site was very busy so get there early!
Only down side was noise level at night - signs saying quiet after 9 but not quiet at 10, 11, or 12 - large family groups with children running around behind tents which as a dog owner was a real nuisance. I could just about cope with the noise level but the running around startled the dogs and their barking woke me up!
Would still consider staying again next time I'm out that way.

This is a basic site in terms of facilities but it's location is outstanding and hard to beat. The site is gently sloping and you will probably need chocks (motorhomes). The facilities consist of toilets, washbasins (cold water only), washing up sink and elsan disposal. All fastidiously clean though - and always a supply of loo paper!
The owner is really helpful and very friendly, he turns up morning and evening. You can drive on to the site at any time although the gates are closed and chained (not locked) late at night. Will, the owner, will be round in the morning to collect payment. Reasonable rate (£4. 50 per person).
There is a roped off area for DofE camping and the site can be quite busy at weekends in peak season.
We've been here quite a few times and would come back again and again - although we live only a few miles away! It's a good base for walking and not far from the Manifold Valley (which is perfect for cycling). Alstonefield, Hartington are close by and it's a short drive to Wolfscote Dale, Dovedale, Milldale and many others. Beresford Dale can be accessed directly from the site.
The site is dog friendly and there is dog walking (the path to Beresford Dale) immediately from the site.
The topping on the cake is that the Manifold Valley pub is just a couple of hundred yards from the site and there is a short cut round the back of the site. A good range of beers and wines, excellent menu that's reasonably priced. Free wi-fi too - this is good as the phone signal in the whole of the area is weak to non existent! The pub has a smart dining room as well as plenty of outdoor seating.
So, if you don't mind having minimal on site facilities, but want a beautiful view, good pub and easy access for walking and wonderful Peak District countryside all at a reasonable price - then this can't be beaten!
