 Fantastic little site. Perfect location at the base of Tryfan.
We were in the area for a day at Zipworld and wanted somewhere local to pitch for the night.
Basic, yet clean and spotless facilities, friendly owners and great access to the Ogwen Valley and the rest of Snowdonia.
Will definitely be returning in the near future!

Great campsite. Basic toilets. Nice showers. Hot water for washing up. You can head straight out from your tent or short drive to other places of interest. No shops or pubs nearby so make sure you come with supply’s. £5 per person. We will definitely be returning.

This is a great site if you are into walking, scrambling and climbing. Set at the foot of Tryfan in the valley with mountain views all around you. It is quite exposed though and the wind fairly whistles down between the mountains, careful placement of the tent and secure pegging is required. There is a shower block with 3 separate shower cubicles and I have to say they where the best showers I have ever come across on any campsite anywhere. The toilets however are basic but functional with a couple of sinks with cold water only for pot washing. There is nothing in the way of shops or pubs within walking distance so make sure you take plenty of supplies with you.
We paid £5 per person per night which to me is about right. Overall a nice site and a great base for mountain activities.

I visited with a friend for an intense three day walking and scrambling trip. The site is well positioned in the heart of the Ogwen valley, with all the walks and scrambles you could want within very easy reach - it would be possible to spend a week here without using your car to get you to any start point. The field is basic, though the shower block is one of the best I've experienced. Toilets and washing-up facilities are fine.
This is a great site for outdoors enthusiasts, and cheap at only £5 per night. It would not suit family campers who want on-site facilities and pubs, cafes and shops within walking distance. If you want somewhere decent to sleep before attacking the hills, Gwern Gof Uchaf is fantastic.

Excellent location for walking, tryfan, glyders and carnedds all nearby, no shop on site but capel curig close by.
Very reasonable rates. Although located off the A5 not affected by noise of the traffic.
No need to book, just turn up and pitch and the owner collects the following morning.
I would have no problems returning to this site.

Just came back from staying on the camp site Gwern Gof Uchaf for the weekend. It was our first camping experience (me and my partner) and we loved it. Very beautiful place, no crowded, pitch where you want, no bookings required - perfect.
The facilities were basics, but clean, nice hot showers. About midges - full of them in the evening but it didn't spoil our stay, because after all day walking and visiting pub in Bets-y-coed all we needed is to sleep and woke up with the gorges view of Trifan.
In general - very peaceful, close to all main attractions. We will be back soon.

This is an excellent site particularly for same sex groups. Book in advance though if this is the case. The farmer will let you have a camp fire on the rocky area to the left of the camping field/road. This area is ideal as the elevated ground keeps noise to a mininmum towards the tents. Warning though you will be eaten alive by the midges so take deet/repellant.
The ground is tent peg friendly but pitch the tent carefully as the wind howls down through the valley. Showers and washing facilities are good as are the bunkhouse which we have used before. If you need to go to the pub its in Capel Curig and that means a taxi which is expensive. The store in Capel is expensive also so take your stuff with you. If you do have a camp fire remember to take wood with you as you will not find any on the site. Several garages on the way sell logs though. The setting is brilliant with Tryfan standing over you. This site is ideal for hikers/walkers not brilliant for kids. Marvellous. The farmer will take his dues in the morning about 9.30 am. We will be going again in August. Bring it on.

Nice little campsite, good flat ground, decent shower block and adequate toilets - and that's it. Perfect if you want a place to stay and no more.
Right at the base of Tryfan, excellent for walking in the Carneddau or Glyderau.

Nice little campsite at foot of Tryfan, basic facilities, but only £4pp/night. It makes a great base for exploring the local area on foot, with Tryfan being immediately accesible.
Plenty of parking as you cannot park your car next to tent, which helps make it quieter as car stereos aren't left blaring.

Me and a couple of pals have stayed at this location during walking weekends in 2006 and 2005 having been recommended in Trail mag. We used it as a base to climb Tryfan and the Elidir range and also the Carnedds opposite. The location is amazing and there's nothing better than watching the sun set and rise behind the glorious landscape that surrounds this campsite, apart from soothing your aching bones in the free, yes free, hot showers on the site after a good days scrambling! Would recommend this site to all and would even suggest to those who do not fancy a bit of rambling or climbing to stay here just for the scenery. Can't wait to pay it another visit soon this year!
