I stayed at this site back in June when a friend and I were touring Wales by motorcycle. Considering the price and the facilities, this site represents excellent value. We had no problems with midges or the nearby road, even though we were pitched fairly close to it. (Traffic was scarce after dark). The ground seems very peaty which made for easy pitching and pegging and was very comfy under your roll mat. All in all, an excellent site for the price, and we WILL be back in '06.

august 2004 Enjoyed 2 nights stay at this site with family, none being hardened campers ! It was fantastic to wake up with such great views and having the feeling of being away from it all. The A5 was close but this did not affect the enjoyment of our break. I would definitely go again, although next time I would be prepared for the midges ! The site owner was friendly and the facilities were OK

July 2003 A great site in an even greater location at the foot of Tryfan in the Ogwen Valley. The site is approx 3 miles from Joe Browns (Capel Curig shops) and is next door to Gwern Gof Isaf which didn't look as good. (Nightly price £3.00 & 50 pence showers) The site is badly signposted driving from Capel Curig or Bethesda but there is a bus stop at the gate and a small camping symbol (Snowdon Sherpa Service) The facilities are excellent and newly installed, the website shows how good they are. Costs: £2.50 per night, cars free with the pitch. Day parking for visitors in the bay by the gate: £1 per day. The Showers were excellent, FREE with the pitch, hot power showers in very clean tiled / plastic cubicle. There is no shortage of water despite the busy times. Good drinking water available with cold water washing up sinks. The site is a bit exposed near the house and rather uneven but I stayed on a hill to the left of the main field. Despite other reviews, the hill gave adequate noise protection from the A5 which is close by. The farmer doesn't mind disposable BBQ's, (I raised mine on a rock to minimise grass damage but they didn't seem very bothered). Good Insect reppellent essential when the sun goes down if there is no wind. Small back biting flies + the odd midge were abundant: Lifesystems 100% DEET spray (buy in the outdoor shops in Betwys or Joe Brown's @ Capel Curig)& AVON "Skin-so-soft" lotion were effective deterrents. The site can be rather windy as the mountains surrounding act as a wind tunnel. Bethesda 4.5 miles with good 24 hr Spar, Betwys 12 miles. Pubs 3.5 miles in Capel Curig. Rather inquisitive sheep in the mornings and NO DOGS.

July 2003 This is a twee little site in a great position just under Tryfan - a wonderful mountain if you havent climbed it! Ths site ownwers are very friendly and the facilites are excellent for the price and the size of the site. The only drawback for me was proximity to the A5, which, because of the open terrain here, is audible constantly and it does somewhat spoil the peace (and the sleep!). Having said that - i would go back again as this charming site offers fantastic value in a spot which is brilliantly located for walking and climbing.
