This site is a hidden gem, our pitch was perfect, the toilet block could do with modernising a touch, big thanks to the seasonal tourers for inviting me to the 'wine shack' for a few drinks, what a lovely bunch of people especially Ste (what a guy)! I will definitely be visiting this site again.

Amazing site hidden at the top of the hills.
Lovely owners, nice and quiet lights out at 11pm no exceptions ever.
Has the amazing wine shack, a great chilled feature.
One on the regulars helped me get my awning erected.
Nice shower blocks, one of the local also, think his name was Ste offered to help me out the shower, nothing is too much bother for the locals on site.

I don't usually write reviews but as I do often rely on them I thought I would this time! Especially as I can't help but feel odd about this camp site!
So to break it down here are the positives and negatives about this site.
Positives:
Clean, Tidy, Lovely owners
Negatives:
Squashed in like a tin of beans
There seems to be an unwelcoming atmosphere from the caravans permanently situated there, loud, think they own the place, a little rough round the edges, kids on bikes in between our van and car, at one point kids slammed into our van!
No one there when we arrived had to call up to see where to pitch as it seemed all pitches were full we didn't even have a proper pitch I don't think or if we did it was oddly set up which is ok I guess just an odd feel about the place.
Electric kept tripping. Although this did stop on second day once owner sorted it apparently residents had unplugged us into a different one (says it all really)
So all in all would I return to this site? NOT A CHANCE ! And I am soooooo sorry to say this as owners lovely but to me it had a real bad atmosphere and it seemed to me that the owners don't take stock of the behaviour of long term people pitching there so it seems to me they get away with it. Its a shame really as site is lovely bar the small pitches and where the stain caravans are is really lovely! But I'm afraid it not somewhere I shall return or recommend

Just returned from this site,
The drive upto the site is a little like being on the big dipper the road is narrow and very hilly with blind corners.
When we arrived we were shown to a grass area in front of caravans that are permanently there with awnings set up, the electric was attached to a multi plug that didn't look safe and kept tripping.
The toilet block could of done with updating I was told the mens was ok, it had a good laundry room with washing up sink and hot water.
The park looked good with football posts basket ball swings climbing frame, When the kids went on the park they said some things were broken, the site was quiet until the weekend when the permanent caravans where being used who seemed like nice people.
While there we had our fairy lights cut to pieces we don't know whether it was one of the kids or an adult.
They advertised an activity night with 2 free tickets per caravan we tried to get tickets and were told to get them from reception, which was never open, when we went down to the club we were told that we had to pay £10, that the free tickets were for the seasonal pitches (which wasn't on the advert).
We did have some nice days out and a couple of nice meals in pubs that were about 20mins drive away, little shops about the same anything bigger you have to go to main towns.

Just returned from this site and have been very disappointed with the place.
On their website is a pdf brochure showing a few pictures of the site and site details. One of the first pictures shows the site shop with the shelves nice and full but in reality, there were just a couple of cans and a tiny selection of sweets.
The next picture seen was of the playground which is wonderful for the children and in great condition, but in the picture shows the camping area full of tents. This is now impossible as that area now has hardstandings and eleven touring caravans, along with full awnings permanently sited.
The brochure states that the camping is in the heart of the site which is untrue. There are small areas at the top of the hill for about five small tents and another area is in front of yet another row of sited tourers.
Hook ups were available but when you see a power block of four sockets, each with a twin plug attached so the main four sockets now feed eight units, it cannot be safe! Some of the cables for the power to some units are laid across the roadway which I feel is also unsafe.
The brochure also states that the showers are free - again untrue. They cost 20p for 4 minutes. The showers are in a very dire state and only one shower in the gents and only one shower in the ladies for the entire site. The toilet block could do with a good cleaning as well.
The nearest shops were about 9 miles away so the shop on site could have saved us a fair journey had we needed anything but we were organised enough to take all we needed for the weekend.

Three night bank holiday break.
Positives
Lovely views
Very Remote camp site
Kids play park central and boys enjoyed playing football.
Owner friendly and around a lot
Site felt safe
Negatives
Toilets just never seemed clean, especially the shower.
Shower was cold for several of us although a friend did manage to have a hot one.
Shower block was not heated
Electric hook up constantly tripped seemed unable to cope with even one appliance at points. The cable ran across the road and tripped the electric every time a car ran over it.
Some large groups chatted until the early hours and swore a lot.
Whilst we made the most of the break, we would not go back.

As a party of 3 caravans we have just returned from a 3 night break over august bank holiday weekend. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and happy to group us altogether. Our electric hook up was not long enough, but again he was able to help. The site is well laid out with statics, tourers and tents separate. In the centre of the pitches there is a safe playground for the kids which seemed popular. Dogs allowed with some good walks. The facilities on site were very poor. Only 2 toilets and 1 shower, all of which were unclean, and in need of renovation. I often found myself queuing to use the facilities on each occasion I used them. The shower is 20p and hit and miss to whether you got hot water. I found switching the shower to temp 38, popping in 20p and counting to 5, then turning shower on always worked for me and my clan. However, others regularly had cold showers - not good in the english weather! This and the fact that their site was inundated with wasps is why I wouldn't return to this site. If both these were rectified then yes I would return. However, I think the later is impossible. Cows in field were also very noisy each morning, but hey you're in the countryside so what can we expect.

The location was amazing and the site really was in the middle of nowhere. It seemed to take ages to reach as it was up a very long single track and at one point we thought we must have taken a wrong turn. The office was closed when we arrived so we just found our own pitch where there were other tents but the owners came around to see us later on and they were very friendly and helpful. We were with friends who had children and they loved the kids playground and the club house. The only downside for me were the toilet facilities. There was just 1 shower which I couldn't bring myself to use as it just didn't seem clean and there were only 2 wash basins but one didn't have a plug. I could have coped with this for two nights had my hair still looked half decent BUT there wasn't a hair dryer or even a socket for my own! May seem trivial to you blokes out there but it didn't half put me on a downer for the weekend. Also, make sure that you take plenty of insect repellent etc as the wasps were a real problem and we just couldn't get rid of them.

Just returned from this site and felt I had to write a review. The camp is a bit of a trek along a narrow single track road but well worth the journey, you really don't expect such a beautiful site to be at the end of it.
The owner of the site was very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was to much bother for him even ringing us on our mobile later on in the evening to check that were were settled okay and if we needed him to lend us longer hookups.
This site is an excellent site for families, there is a superbly located park and lots of space for kids to run around in. Our kids loved riding down the grassy hills on their bikes. If you have a wander around the site it is lovely with beautiful views and lots of wildlife. The only negative point was that the toilets could have been cleaned more often and the showers needed updating, this we could live with. We had a fantastic weekend and didn't want to leave, but we will definitely be returning very soon.

Really nice site, very clean toilets and heated toilet block was much appreciated. Small shop with not much in it but staff very friendly and helpful. Takes about 10 mins to reach main road by car from this site so it is off the beaten track. Good kids play area which was central so kids could be kept an eye on.
Lot of rowdy golfers there the same weekend as us (site is adjoined to a golf course) seemed to be a very large family gathering with loads of kids. They were a bit rowdy but not past 11pm.
I would visit the site again.
