Please note we have been advised that this site has closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Sadly this excellent site has been sold to developers and bulldozed to make way for Luxury statics. It used to be a superb old fasioned and peaceful site. Now the trees have gone along with the charm.

We had a great weekend away, the site was very clean, toilet and shower basic and well kept. Sarah the manager was nice and helpful also very friendly. There is long walks through shinning cliff woods. Beautiful surroundings with peaceful sounds of flowing water at night. Thank you very much, we will be returning asap!

Highly recommended to all.

Stayed with a group of friends in 5 campers/motorhomes. Ring the number on the gate when you arrive and you are greeted by Sarah the site manager. She is very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough to help our group. EHU available, toilet/shower facilities are dated but spotlessly clean. This gem of a site is tucked away in beautiful countryside, dog friendly with lovely walks through the woods where they can run off the lead. Don't forget to take levelling blocks, it is on very sloping ground. We will definitely return to this site.

We have just had a really lovely weekend on this picturesque site.

The quiet and beauty is breathtaking.

Basic amenities such as water, electric toilet/shower and pot washing are available.

Although the shower block is rather old it is as clean as a whistle.

The site manager Sarah is a really friendly character and couldn't do enough to make our stay there any better.

The site has regular visitors all of who could not praise this lady and the wonderful site enough.

This site will definitely be on our favourite list.

We arrived without booking on the 3rd July and stayed for 3 nights. Initially you have to call the number on the gate as it is locked at all times. Once you are on the site Sarah, who runs the site on the owners behalf, explains how to get in/out and the few rules. It cost us £12 a night for a reasonably level spot with EHU. We had a drive away awning at no extra cost. The ground has been made up over the years from what looks like ballast and as a result, the standard tent pegs are useless, you need rock pegs. The toilets/showers, although from the 50's, were exceptionally clean and smelled of new paint. The showers cost 20p, I don't know how long you get but it was easily long enough. A nice quiet site with no extras.

There are no pubs within easy walking distance, the nearest is about 3 miles away in Ambergate. It takes a couple of hours to walk there through the woods. Mobile phone coverage was ok.

Great service when I called to book, which continued when I arrived Friday evening. I was met at the entrance to the site and given all the info I needed. The lovely lady checked up on me later, and made regular rounds - although discretely - to check all was ok.

Great site, well maintained, quiet, stunning rounds and views.

Facilities very clean and well looked after.

A large number of static homes and caravans but you are not aware of all of them as they are hidden due to the layout of the site. Everyone was very friendly.

We visit this site on a regular basis, the owner is now ably assisted by a lady. A lady we have found to be very helpful and courteous. We have found she will assist you in professional friendly manner. She also deals with any unwanted noise from music etc played so loud that the whole site can hear it in a firm but fair way. It is a quiet site and whilst the facilities are dated around circa 1950 they are clean. Small shops are a 5 minute drive away, there is a nice pub in Crich, the Cliff or the Bear at Alderwasley. Miss Sarah will always help on this. Book early to avoid disappointment as they do not over book their site. Matlock Bath Balti (Best Indian in the Area) will deliver to the site, their Lamb Saag is the best I have ever had!

I can't believe how this site got poor reviews. We booked here as a last chance option for the bank holiday weekend as our fist choice of site was full. After reading some of the reviews, we nearly didn't book, but so glad we did.

Have a little patience with the old guy if he answers the phone when you book. I mean this most respectfully when I say, He's a wonderful guy, just a little mis-minded.

We arrived at the site very early due to getting a lift there. The office was shut so we called the number. A lady answered and knew we had booked and directed us to 'The Orchard' to pitch. Later that morning the old guy came by to see we were OK.

The site is set in established woodland making it a totally different experience to 'open field' sites. It is mainly populated by residential & weekender permanent statics. All of the people we met were friendly & welcoming.

We were in a tent but if you plan on towing a caravan onto the site, be prepared for the steep hills.

The Toilets / Showers were cleaned daily. I would class them as excellent as I am not fussy about decor, just hygiene.

Beautiful woodland walks, a train station half a mile away - Trains every hour to / from Matlock, Matlock bath 10 / 15 mins travel. Chrich tramway museum 1. 5 mile walk. Sadly the pub on the bridge was closed down during our stay.

I loved it, She loved it, Kids loved the difference & Nature (3 Girls, 6, 5 & 3).

I will be returning & doing the 2 mile woodland walk to the Hurt Arms in Ambergate.

Lovely peaceful site, basic toilets and showers need 2 x 10p old type, new shiny ten P do not work. V. Hot showers all the time you need. Toilets always stocked with roll.

Not far to Matlock. Lovely walk up Shining Woods.

Definitely go to Hurts Arms Pub, well worth the money especially for Children, Good park and bouncy Castle to play on.

The site was v. good value for money at £11 per night with hook up.

Cant think of anything to criticise.
