Just got home after a very nice 2 nights stay.
Beautiful rural setting. We have a canoe so to be able to camp right next to a lovely stretch of river was great. The owner is a lovely old boy and did his best to help us get the best from our stay. The toilets showers and wash up room are fabulously retro. 1950s style I'd say. Very clean. The whole place is a little bit like the land that time forgot. Think that's why I love it. I've visited before and will again. Many thanks.

Went here growing up with my parents. Owner very friendly and does anything to help. My parents still go and always will. Lovely walks in the woods and alongside the river. It is a beautiful campsite. I will be going soon, I always visit my parents there. The owner is always willing to help and people are friendly on site. It has a basic shower and toilet block and spacious pitches. It is all you could need on a holiday

Lovely setting - owner couldn't have been more helpful as we were a party of 14 adults and 9 children, with one campervan, one tourer and five tents. Yes, the shower and toilet block was basic but the views and the proximity to the river made up for it. We had a completely 'get away from it all' break and would certainly go again.

Organised a party of 14 adults and six children for a weekend here in June and it was fab. Owner very kindly gave us the overspill field next to the river Derwent and we had the place to ourselves. Shower block basic but adequate. The site is beautiful, mainly in a wooded area with lots of residential tourers. No shop on site but we took all our supplies with us. You can fish on the river, it's great for walking the dog, there's loads of space for children to play and there's a really nice pub over the bridge just a short walk away. People on the site really friendly and the owner was a really nice chap who went out of his way to accommodate us.

A fairly basic site, looks like it had residential plots as well. The showers were clean but basic as are the toilets - dated could be used
Lovely position and its the type of place to get away from it all, no commerical bar, friendly people on site and not far from the river.
Bit far out to walk to matlock (for us) but I liked that - you dont get the kids coming back at all hours drunk!
Not my normal stay, I'm more used to a little more luxury but I'm going back in 2007 so that speaks for itself

I stayed at this site with friends of mine for a weekend, but only ended up staying one night it was that bad, The owner was most unhelpful. The showers & toilets did not look like they had been cleaned for ages, and when we complained we were told "If you dont like it !±@* off some where else. I will not be going back again & would not advise anyone else to stay there either. It's the worst site I've ever stayed in 18 years.

Stayed at this site hundreds of times over the last 38 years. To put it simply "Heaven". If you want 5* facilities don't bother, they are adequate for a quick shower etc, but what do you want. Superb location, views, walks, pub at the end of a 1/4 mile track. Fantastic.

July 2005 Does accept tents. Beautiful and quiet location. Friendly staff. Arrived there on sunday evening and the owner himself showed us few places to choose from where to put our tents.
Shower blocks small and 7/10. You have to pay 2 x 10p for hot water at the showers. Hotel/pub 15 min walk by the bridge. Good location for visiting surrounding countyside.
Frequent train connections to Matlock and Derby.
