Lovely campsite, low key camping in an open field.
Pitches are numbered but very low stress to calming camping.
Facilities were nice and always clean.

Lovely and peaceful site, showers and toilets were spotless and very nice.
Showers are spacious and very well designed, facing sideway so your clothes really stay dry!
Sarah was very helpful and friendly.

Simple, friendly, idyllic campsite with good showers and clean facilities.
We had hot weather so fridge was very useful.
Sarah is very welcoming and happy to recommend places to go.
Highly recommend Pasties (tues - sat) and cart selling vegetables from the farm with honesty box.

I don't know if you are allowed to review the same site twice, but this was our second visit to this site, two years' running, and again we had a fantastic time. It is such a quiet and friendly place - the owners are great and very caring, the feel very relaxed, only a few other tents and all campers very friendly to each other, great shop down the road in Mawgan, convenient location, facilities rustic but very clean and with the added bonus of sleeping martins perching above you in the shower area, convenient for all Lizard locations. No unnecessary mod cons but a really wonderful peaceful place which feels like a home from home.

A great basic campsite. This is a flat field with nice cut grass on a quiet lane in the countryside, about 15 minutes drive from Helston which has a couple of large supermarkets. There are two toilets and a sink in the field itself and then over the lane is a shower block, fridge/freezer and washing up sink. Showers were free except for a coronation to charity and lovely and warm. We wee lucky during our stay there and for most of the time it was just ourself and one other so the campsite was perfect for us. Price wise it was £8 pp on and dog was free. Campsite is in ideal location for exploring the lizard and other areas of South Cornwall although you will need a car. Very friendly owners who wee very helpful and a lovely quiet location. Definitely recommended if you like a quiet, basic campsite that does what it says on the tin!

Well what can I say this is a lovely campsite in a beautiful area. It's quite qwerky which is what makes it so special. We stayed for the first time around 12 years ago it hasn't changed much that's why we love it! You are near to lots of places such as seal sanctuary, lizard, loads of coves for surfing etc. Helston is near by for all supermarket essentials. The family that run the campsite are very welcoming and we will be back again for two weeks this summer.

A really lovely campsite if you are after somewhere quiet, scenic, rural, peaceful, informal and friendly - as we were. Great open views and night skies. At night all we could hear were occasional seals (seal sanctuary further up the river!) owls and river birds.
Very nice to be able to pitch where we wanted, and even in August there was loads of space and no problem with availability of facilities. Showers and loos were all spotlessly clean and crossing the quiet lane to access the showers not a problem at all. The family running the site were unfailingly helpful and kind and also unobtrusive. Great farm shop selling, as well as pasties, meat, breads, cake and tubs of the excellent Roskilly's ice cream. Also a very well stocked local stores in the nearby village selling local produce.
This is a really good location if you want a holiday on the Lizard - it didn't take too long to get anywhere and you are surrounded by great walks. Would definitely come back here.

We spent a really lovely week at this campsite. The owners are very friendly, welcoming and do everything they can to help you.
The campsite is spacious and quiet, with simple, but completely adequate showers and toilets. The road that you cross to get to the showers is NOT busy, as one person previously said, and I felt very confident with my 12 year old daughter going over on her own. We also enjoyed the company of the tiny nesting birds near the showers!
Our dog was also welcome on her lead, and there are excellent walks near bye. Children are very welcome at this sight and there is plenty of room for them to play in the field. If you are wanting lots of climbing frames and swings to occupy you children then this isn't the place for you, but if your kids enjoy playing and making their own fun, there is room for this.
The campsite is an ideal one for those who like to be close to some beautiful countryside and coves, and it is also close enough to explore without having to travel miles. It is also handy for supermarkets a few miles away in Helston.
Another great thing was the friendly organic farm shop near the showers, selling delicious pasties, cakes and breads. These were of excellent quality.
We had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to go to Gear farm again.

Just back from possibly the coldest May bank holiday weekend ever ! Gear Farm is in a cracking location, on top of the hill overlooking the river at the bottom of the valley. Admittedly you can't sit in your tent and see the view to the bottom but it is nevertheless a lovely spot with tranquillity all around. The location however did make it rather windy so make sure you peg/guy well !
Very quiet - us and the family we were with plus another 3 families travelling together so heaps of field for the children to run around in. Others had been offered (as we were) the option to be in the CL part or the orchard as more sheltered and there were perhaps another 6 or so units in total.
Facilities are indeed very clean but very basic/simple. One washing up sink with hot water, fridge/freezer, two showers (only one seemed to be efficiently supplying hot water though) and a couple of loos and cold water wash basins on the farmhouse side of the lane. Two more loos and a cold wash basin in the camping field. Several water supply taps around the field.
Sadly due to family illness the shop wasn't open so we have to take previous reviewers' word for the quality of pasties etc.
Walked the dog down to the river and back and in the surrounding fields - no complaints from him at all ! We did try the pub and breakfasted a couple of times at The Grange down the road - very good and about 5 mins drive.
We had a good stay, despite the weather - but this site won't be to everyone's taste. If you want playground and mod cons. Look elsewhere !

The loveliest site we have been to in years, a very welcome return traditional camping, and even a view! Acres of space, clean facilities, a very warm welcome, and even an organic pizza house on site. Like the other positive reviewer for Gear Farm, we loved it here, so quiet we could hear the owls! The location is great, half an hour from the A30, and 10 minutes from the nearest sandy beach. Sainsburys is 15 minutes away, and 5 minutes in the car from a great family friendly pub with good food
