Great it’s open all year! Very quiet though when we were there, no other tourers ! As mentioned in other reviews the front are of site is given overto statics, but this is in no way obtrusive. Best pitches, in my view are at the rear when the tourers go.

As it was winter, in Scotland, in a sheltered valley surrounded by gentle hills. It was cold. At this time of year water to the individual water pipes at each touring pitch is switched off and drained down. Water was from the top of the site by hose.

There is a newish toilet block, Not in use out of season but facilities made available to empty our loo.

So limited facilities available of season, but not an issue for us. The on-site shop remains open where you can order papers etc for the next day. There was fresh produce too from the Selkirk butcher.

It’s a peaceful place, lochside location is very pretty. Good dog walking right from the site.

Helpful friendly people. If you like quiet peaceful locals and like to go off season, this is a great place.

The roads there are narrow and care needs to be taken. Some single with passing places. There is a pub within walking distance. We didn’t use it but informed it did a great Sunday lunch. Dogs are welcome too.

Absolutely loved this site, Great location and fantastic views. No phone signal but not such a bad thing. Already planning our next visit. Be sure to head to head to the pub down the road and also cross the bridge at the back of the site to see what lies beyond

Reiterating an earlier review. Do not be put off by the statics that are situated in the first 2/3 of the site, the location for the tourers at the lower end is very good, particularly the grass sites (though we did opt for a hard standing as heavy rain was forecast). Facilities are excellent with ehu and water on most pitches. The owner could not have been more friendly and helpful. When we visited the vast majority of the statics were unoccupied, but those that were always had time for a few words.

A plus point is that the nearby pub (about 20minutes walk down a very quiet lane) has recently reopened and does superb home cooked food at remarkably low prices - not to be missed.

A beautiful quiet location with a small shop attached to boot. Recommended.

Just had a wonderful two night stay at Honey Cottage. Will definitely be visiting again and soon. It is great site with everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable visit. Owner/Manager very welcoming and the facilities adequate and very clean. The pitches for tourers down by the river are a great place to spend and evening with a glass of wine watching the amazing sky - see how many satellites you can spot.

My husband came here when he was a little boy (he's in his 50s now) and, on the face of it nothing much has changed. Really in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no phone signals or internet coverage, it is a lovely little haven. A lot of static caravans (some better looking than others) but past them down at the river are the camping pitches. Very nice spot where you can hear the river all the time and get a good view of the rest of the site. Slight drawback is that it's a bit of a trail to the loos and showers but it's not much of a moan. The loos and showers are a bit basic but clean and always plenty of hot water when we were there. It was very quiet (mid-week) so I don't know what it would be like when it's busy as there are only 2 showers each for the ladies and the gents. There is also now a little shop open which is run by a lovely chatty lady and, frankly, if she doesn't have it, you don't need it! I've stayed on much bigger and better equipped sites that don't have a shop like this! Considering there's nothing else for miles around and you're a captive audience, her prices are also very reasonable. One thing this site should be pushing is the fact that it could (and should) be applying to be a Dark Sky site - the sky when it's clear at night is totally breathtaking! Add to that the extremely friendly owner and this site has everything you could wish for for a peaceful, quiet time. We look forward to many happy weekends here.

Located in the middle of nowhere in the rolling Border hills. Fantastic out of the way spot! The site as a whole is 3/4 statics but don't let this put you off. Once through the big caravans you reach the camping field adjacent to the river and it's really very nice.

Toilet block is modern and clean; showers are good. Small children's play area but splodging appears to be much more appealing to the children on site.

Well equipped shop on site. Friendly warden. Payphone nearby, no mobile signal.

Recommended.

Just spent a great 4 nights at honey cottage. The site is well kept, toilet / shower block was clean and tidy with plently of free hot water. The pitches are well spaced and it has a well stocked shop. Had a lovely warm welcome from the owner who checked often to see if everything was ok.

Great place to base yourself for lovely walks in the Ettrick Valley and Bowhill Estate, lots of wildlife including otters in the river running alongside the site. Will be returning to this site again, 16. 50 a night for an electric hook up with free hot water and the dogs went free as well.

Thats me back again and what a fab Bank Holiday weekend. weather was great and yes as they said Toilet Blocks look great and the shop has finally opened and well stocked up with lots of local products, fresh eggs and milk. anything she has not got she will do her best to get it for you and yes there is still no local pubs, but there are two 15mins drive away which are very friendly and very reasonable for food and child friendly. Will be back again very soon great site.

Great Place to come and get away from it all, not even a telephone signal, but that's what the country side is all about, peace and quiet. great for the kids they loved it here. as for the Site Owner what a lovely guy he was, very helpful. he informed us that there are going to be changes to the campsite toilet blocks for next year 2014. the shower blocks will be heated but that was no problem for us at all. We were also invited to a party that was taken place, but we did not go due to the children but did hear it was very good night. We will return again as loved it.

What a gorgeous place. The area is clean and very friendly.

The children loved the freedom of running around with loads of things to do. Catching fish, playing in the park, etc

The toilets are clean and the showers are hot all the hours of the day.

The small cafe that opens for an hour and a half on a Saturday night is wonderful for a 'night off' from cooking. Well worth a visit!

It is such a peaceful place but there is no shop if you run out of food it is a 20-30 miles to stock up.

The best thing is NO mobile or internet. BLISS.

A real 'get away from it all' place.
