 Easy to find.

Quiet site, beautiful surroundings.

Excellent Toilet and shower facilities.

Nice walks nearby.

I'm local, some more brochures on things to do in the area for people who have travelled further would be nice.

We had a spare weekend and decided to try an area we didn't know much about. Macclesfield Forest area, west of the Peak District, has always looked nice from the "Cat & Fiddle" A537 road but there aren't too many campsites to choose from here.

This one is tagged on to a stately home that holds weddings and a few small festivals through the year.

The site itself is nice and open, surrounded by fields and trees. Very peaceful. I even saw a woodpecker on the fence behind us! They did warn of potential noise when they're holding events and there was some music late at night but it wasn't too distracting.

You have access to a small bit of woodland beside the Hall and can walk around the lakes and gardens on site when there isn't a wedding taking place. There was a wedding when we were visiting but we could still access the woodlands and lake area.

The camping plots are nice enough, the facilities are very clean and there's plenty of loos and showers etc.

We didn't go into Macclesfield itself but explored a few surrounding areas. Alderley Park was very nice and the reservoirs and woodland walks at Macclesfield Forest are really pretty.

Stopped off for a quick pint at the "Leather's Smithy" pub besides one of the reservoirs. We also explored Tegg's Nose country park just a mile or two away. Despite being close to the forest it felt like a completely different scenic area.

I'd definitely recommend the campsite and the general area. I don't think there's any shops or pubs within close walking distance so you'd have to take some supplies with you or drive out somewhere but that was fine for us.

There's some really pretty areas to explore that aren't as busy as most Peak District areas.

It's a very pretty site, well tended with beautiful views. We didn't go round the hall but it looked impressive from the outside.

The grounds were fab, particularly the wilderness trail which the dogs loved investigating. Showers and toilets were excellent, clean, warm and plenty of hot water.

The actual pitches are quite narrow so if the site is full and most vans have awnings it may feel rather cramped but as it was quiet when we went, it was fine.

We were also very lucky with the weather being warm and sunny.

Loved the beautiful house, gardens and estate.

My review of the campsite only.

The toilet block is good, clean and warm. Pitches are hard standing or grass, 16 or 10 amp or none.

The grass Pitches are the largest, the hard standing are small and not well maintained.

We booked pitch 8, possibly the worst pitch on the site. It's right next to a field gate, were clearly the farm traffic cut across the corner of the pitch leaving a big patch of mud. No room for an awning.

We arrived Saturday afternoon and this is when we found out that there is no staff at the weekend (info on website is poor). You are given an out of hours emergency number to call.

I called it, 30ish minutes later I got a apologetic call back from a friendly, helpful lady. I explained my dislike of pitch 8 and she offered me a late arrival pitch at the top end of the site.

They have 6 or 7 late arrival Pitches, not sure if you can book these.

We were on pitch 25, much better.

To sum up, the campsite seems a little neglected (not the facility block, that's fine) just feels like a low priority on the estate.

Some lovely walks from the estate. Nearest shop or pub are a short drive away.

We have noted which Pitches are the best for our next trip, it's worth another visit. The camp is OK, just could be much better.

Quite simply the best caravan site I have stayed on.

We've just returned from one of our most treasured holidays in the Caravan.

This site is so calming.

Facilities superb and the grounds are breathtaking.

So much to see and so in the area.

Cannot wait to go back again.

Site is beautiful but we chose the wrong pitch as it rained constantly from arriving to leaving.

Our pitch (8) was waterlogged and made moving around very difficult. Not put us off though,

We will return just choose a different dry pitch.

A haven of tranquility, we went there to chill and chill we did. I even managed do do some watercolour painting, make new friends, and have a jog and a separate walk.

These are not fully serviced pitches, there is fresh water nearby but not to connect direct to your van.

We intend to revisit but the down sides for you to consider are (1) the hall is not open until April each year, (2) the hall opening times are limited, (3) the on site cafe isn't open until April each year, (4) the cafe opening times appear limited, (5) there is no shop on site, (6) you are asked not to use the grounds after 7pm (7) the pitches seem narrow

And the gravel could do with widening on each pitch and the arc of vehicle turning that is chewing up the ground and creating too much mud, but these points are offset by (a) a magnificent venue, (b) spotless toilets, (c) lovely staff, (d) peace and tranquillity, (e) lovely walks, oh did I mention peace and tranquillity. If not, then I should have

Great campsite, set in wonderful surroundings of the hall and gardens.

Easy to find and very clean amenities.

Close to Cheshire show ground and tatton park.

Wow what an amazing place to chill relax and unwind so peaceful and quiet. We are new to mortorhoming and wanted to practice close to home.

Views of the lake, the hall and countryside were amazing.

Great woodland walks dog friendly- shower & toilets were spotless.

Everything easy and accessible my only suggestion would be to have a secure area to let dogs off the lead.

A site recommended by friends we will definitely be booking again 😊

We decided to have a couple of nights away on the spur of the moment, we didn't want to travel too far from our home in Stoke and a search on UKCampsite gave us a few options including Capesthorne Hall.

It is not the type of location we normally choose, but we wanted to chill out for a couple of days and Capesthorne Hall fitted the bill perfectly.

The staff are friendly and really helpful, the site itself is well maintained and well away from the road, so it is quiet.

The showers and toilets are spotless and well positioned for all the pitches.

There are plenty of walks around the lakes and through the woods, the house is open on Sundays and Mondays (the cafe is open on the same days), I don't think there are any cycle routes in the area, and the A34 road that runs past the entrance is really busy.

We can't wait to go back again
