Very nice well run site. We stayed here off season for 16 nights. Excellent facilities, nice pool complex, indoor pool nice and warm as weather a little changeable during our stay. Excellent showers and loos in either the new or older sanitation blocks. Laundry well equipped. (jetons for washer E4 and drier E2).

Access to pitches is a little challenging as roads are narrow and entrances to cul de sacs can be tight.

A few pitches are level but the majority are not which can make pitching an awning a challenge. We saw several people with air awnings struggling, our Isabella just needed careful setting up.

Water and grey waste on most pitches but we used a wastehog for grey as water doesn't run uphill.

Bread, croissants and pain au chocolat available from reception daily. Plenty for the kids with bouncy castle, crazy golf, table tennis and a basketball court.

On site restaurant/bar was ok but only open for a short time each day being off season.

Arradon is a clean and pleasant village within easy walking distance along quiet roads or along the shoreline of the Gulf. At low tide you can walk round to Arradon Port, couple of decent cafes and restaurants there and a Super U. Just outside the village. Vetinerien office adjacent to the supermarket if you need it

No dogs on the beaches off lead unfortunately but there was no-one there when we visited so we let them have a swim.

We took the water tour round the Gulf from Port Blanc with a stop for lunch on one of the two main islands, to be recommended. Also took the P'tit train tour around the standing stones at Carnac. Very interesting. The tour also takes in Trinite sur Mer, pretty harbour with some big ocean-going Trimarans based there. You can hop off the train here and grab a bite to eat then rejoin the next train to complete the tour.

Vannes is a fascinating medieval town with a decent market on Saturdays, plenty of parking.

We booked 4 nights at this site in advance with the Caravan Club, and it was the first time we have ever booked a site in advance in France. Check in was very straightforward, and the staff speak good English. We had requested a sunny pitch, which they selected for us, but they told us we could pitch anywhere we wished. The toilet and shower block was mixed, no toilet seats, but toilet paper was provided in each cubicle. The showers were hot with good pressure, and everything was kept clean. There is also an aire de service for campervans. Getting around the site is a little tight for larger vans. There is an outdoor pool with slides, and a small indoor pool, which looked popular although we didn’t use it.

There is a footpath from the site to the coast, and another to the nearby beach which is quite small, and too cold to sit out whilst we were there! The town of Arradon is about 10 minutes cycle ride away, (not an entirely flat ride), and has a couple of boulangers, plus a butcher, and a small Casino store, and a few eateries, although we didn’t eat out here. The SuperU, is also accessible by cycle a little further on.

There are walks and a footpath runs around the coast. The tourist information in Arradon, can provide a free map showing cycle paths and walking paths, although we found these weren’t particularly well signposted.

All in all, not a bad place to stay.

Have just returned from a two week holiday at penboch. What a great site, everything you need on a site. The swimming pool and slides were a great hit with the kids (and the adults). The pizza van that visits on a Tuesday evening is well worth a visit to. If you pay for a large pitch you get 2 standard size pitches which is well worth it. The fresh bread and croissants that you can order the night before is nice and fresh waiting for you in the bar the next morning. The toilet and shower block is always clean and tidy. The shop is very very basic but you will get what you need to get you by.

The staff are nice and friendly also willing to help with anything.

The only bad point (not that bad) is the wifi is not very good at all if you want to search for attractions in the local areas. Not worth the euro you have to pay.

Would I go back here again. Yes I would.

Stayed here for two weeks, from 10th August.

Had two weeks of superb weather.

This site is very close to Aaradon, which has restaurants, two patisseries, a good sized SuperU and a smaller supermarket.

Also close to the lovely city of Vannes, which has a good market, Wednesday and Saturday.

The pitches are small, but we had no problem getting out 7. 3m van on it. We provided the campsite entertainment, when we used our mover to get it on the pitch sideways, we had an audience of French and Dutch folk from tents, who hadn't seen anything like it before. They have larger pitches, but are significantly more expensive, we did not feel they were worth another 200E for our two week stay. We thought the site fees were a lot for the facilities provided, but when we looked at other sites in the same area, ours were less.

The site is well run, kept clean and tidy, with one newer large amenity block, no toilet seats in this one and a older smaller one, with toilet seats. We never had to queue for a shower. Both only seemed to be cleaned once a day, in the afternoon, it was a deep clean with a power hose, but we felt that they should have been given a quick clean, later in the day. Maybe they were, but we didn't notice it being done. We found that sometimes toilet roll would run out and was not replaced. We started to take our own.

Plenty of dish washing facilities and washing machines.

The swimming pool and water slides, were good, there was no lifeguard and a lot men wore swim shorts, not speedos. The indoor pool had a small jacuzzi.

The site is in a great position on a headland, with nice walks. There is a small beach, but because of the estuary is quite muddy, so not great for paddling, but it was always packed. We went to Carnac, where the beaches are much nicer.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, understood our poor French and could speak English well.

There is a pizza van that visits this site once a week, lovely pizzas, worth the experience of watching the man wrap them alone. Another night a galette van visits, we didn't try them.

A couple of nights they run a cinema night in the bar, for children, but can't comment on this. Apart from that there is no other entertainment. There is an outdoor play area and a covered inflatable play area, for smaller children.

There is quite a large amount of teenagers on this site, much to my 15yr old daughters delight, she made some great friends. We never at any time, had any bother with them. They mostly went to the beach at night, or congregated around the area where the football pitch and table tennis tables were. The lights here were switched out at 11pm and apart from two nights, where we had noise from adults sitting outside talking until very late, the site was peaceful and quiet.

The one area that could be improved is the bar area, it is not very inviting, you wouldn't be tempted to spend an evening there. There is a small area of the bar that has some foodstuffs and a fridge with wine, soft drinks, milk etc. We found that buying a can of coke from the fridge and then taking it to the bar to pay was a lot cheaper than buying direct from the bar, weird saying it was in the same place. They sold bread, croissants in the morning, more expensive than from a supermarket, but the croissants were twice the size and were lovely.

Wifi is 1E for an hour, which we thought was not bad. SuperU had free wifi as did some of the other larger supermarkets, near to Vannes.

Overall this site is really good, my daughter (16yrs) can't wait to go back again. There is something about it which is difficult to explain, it is very relaxing and peaceful, you felt as if you were completely away from it all, but were close to all the shops and restaurants you could possibly need. We just loved walking along the path to the beach at night, especially at sunset, it was lovely. Seems to have a lot of repeat business. , we would definitely stay here again.

Penboch is a peaceful campsite in a quiet rural area. Paths lead from the site to a headland overlooking the Gulf of Morbihan. The view out over bobbing dinghies and misty islets is very beautiful. The two small beaches are more suited to mud skipping and beach combing than paddling or swimming.

The site is at on each side of the end of a lane. The main entrance, swimming pools and bar are all on the left. We were given a nice shady pitch at the end of a 'chemin' on this side but I would recommend the right hand side - quieter with less facilities on the door step but lovely tall pines to camp under and a short walk to the sea.

The pools were good and it was nice to have an indoor pool on cooler days. The bar was reasonable, not much in the way of food served, the shop fairly basic.

Nearby Vannes is worth visiting, also Iles aux Moins (though book boat tickets ahead in the season as it was incredibly busy).

My husband and I have just returned from staying at this camp site. It was the last week before the site closed for the winter which meant there were very few campers on site, a bonus if you like a quiet holiday. Also, all but one toilet/shower block were not available for use and the outdoor swimming pools were closed as well.

We had no difficulty finding a flat pitch large enough for our Nevada L tent and vehicle. It had bald patches from excessive use and was quite hard (thank goodness we have strong tent pegs, the ones supplied with the tent would have been mangled!). There is a spacious play area but we did not use this, nor the indoor heated pool. The toilet block was kept spotlessly clean.

We found the reception staff very welcoming. Fortunately our French is quite good as their English appeared non-existent. Wifi was charged at 1 euro an hour, we got good reception from our tent.

I was disappointed with the beach which is within walking distance of the camp site. I like to swim open water and found the little cove too shallow to swim unless I walked a long way out, it was silted and I got stuck in the mud several times!

Although this site is 4 star, It didn't feel like it. Probably because most of the facilities were already closed down. I don't think we will visit again, we both feel we would prefer somewhere where the beach is cleaner.

It was a rather long drive from Calais longer then we estimated 8 hours with a couple of stops. The French roads are really clear so it could of been worse.

The facilities were great at the site:

2 decent sized swimming pools with slides

Clean toilets - did not use showers

Good Play Area

Bouncy Castle for the kids

WiFi - but you could only access it near the reception area

Pitches left a lot to be desired we have a 28FT caravan and with the awning on the side these were very tight

Pitches were muddy and hardly had any grass it was dried mud so when we had a downpour it was very muddy.

Hedges dividing the pitches were not maintained needed a good trim.

I noticed a lot of people only stopped one night them moved on if we had not paid for the full week I think we may have done the same. One lady mentioned that it was not as good as the brochure made out.

Facilities Great but pitches leave a lot to be desired.

The pitches are quite small with just enough space for our six berth, awning and car. The shop is little more than a few shelves in the bar but large supermarkets are within a 5 min drive. There are swimming pools and games room. The beach is not sand but small gravel or coarse sand and it disappears at high tide. We found the bay area to be littered with broken glass at low tide. There is also a large amount of seaweed. This is not a traditional beach area. A trip around one of the small islands is a must with cycle hire available at least on the Isle D'Arz. Carnac has a proper sandy beach which is approx 40 mins drive away. Wifi was free at the time of our visit. There are table tennis tables and a small crazy Golf. The door to the electric points were left open, which was a concern with small children. The site seemed quite closed in and access to some pitches would be difficult for large outfits. We would not visit this site again because of the lack of a proper beach and the limited pitch sizes.

We loved it here & have just booked our return trip for this summer. Not too busy, clean & friendly. Stayed with our 2 children aged 18 months & 4 at the time.

Good facilities - 2 decent sized outside pools, 1 with slides plus small baby pool with mini slide. Indoor pool with whirl pool. Inflatable indoor play - hardly used whilst we were there (apart from by our girls!) clean loos & showers. No baths as per norm in French sites which was sometimes difficult with the kids but family wash room with bigish sink and flat top for nappy changing.

Lovely play park. Boules, mini golf etc but didn't use. Shop v small & pricey but super you just 5 mins drive stocks ev thing. Pitches on small side. We loved the beach.

Beautiful walks along cliff top or can go down lane from back of campsite. Kids scooted there though bumpy! Its an interesting beach - rocks, boats, crabs, some sand, good views. Kept the kids very occupied.

Arradon is pleasant small town with church, post office, nice icecreams! Few shops & bank etc. We did no exploring which surprised us but were just content to relax at site by pool/ beach for whole week. Caught ferry to st malo so only few hours drive to site. Easy to find. Going for longer this time so driving from Calais with overnight stops. Def recommend.

Stayed here for 10 nights in our tent in July 2010.

The pools were amazing and never too busy, slides were great fun for us and children. Surrounding area was beautiful, and although the beach nearby was tiny, a drive to Carnac lead to beautiful beaches. Another day trip which we felt was a must due to the stunning views, beaches and gorgeous little shops was to the Ile-Aux-Moines. A short inexpensive 5 min boat trip from Port Blanc, so worthwhile we loved exploring this beautiful island! Vannes and Auray were also quite nice for a day trips.

The campsite was pretty, showers and facilities great, staff were helpful although very few spoke any English so phrase book was a must, but this was actually quite good as we learnt a few more words. Limited produce in shop and cafe, but were able to purchase frozen bottles of mineral mater as ice packs, and Super you very locqally. Few shops and nice market nearby in Arradon. Crepe/gallette van and a pizza van delivered to site weekly - delish! Pitches were level and compact although our Outwell monty 6, gazebo and car fitted fine.

Hubby and kids played spontaneous football kick around most evenings with other campers from all nationalities on all weather pitch, which was nice!

Great holiday all in all would return, great balance of facilities, whilst not being too commercial.
