Fantastic site, quiet, peacefully, clean, friendly, great little shop for essentials and fishing tackle forgotten,
Great fishing pond included which got our son hooked on carp super clean and modern showers which we never had to queue for.
Nice bar and takeaway for a relaxing drink and lunch at the end of the day plenty of area for dog walking and star gazing at night.
Loved it that much we left our van there for our future breaks.

Two toilet blocks with the newer one only open in peak season.
The older one has 3 toilets, no disabled facility, lights which turn out after a few minutes leaving you in pitch black at night if you need to have a longer visit! Then when you wash your hands there is no hot water to the taps, ridiculous and extremely unhygienic! The newer block was just opened and again no hot water to the taps and nothing for the disabled.
The showers in the old blocks are 3 wetrooms with doors that open, and stay open to bugs galore, to the path outside. They lock but who wants to shower in a room full of bugs. The bin in the toilet wasn't emptied for the entire week I spent there. Clean - I don't think so!
Piches are either very sloping or as mentioned by others, very boggy. Sorry, but I don't recommend this site at all,

Read all the reviews (including the bad one) and off we went, the journey was great the only bit that was iffy was the road to the actual campsite as it is used as a rat run by locals coming and going to Mevagissey.
It was pure bliss as we were the only people there, the toilets and showers were spotless, there is a bar which is open during high season and weekends. The fishing lake was challenging as those fish certainly know how to fight and where to hide.
If I had a criticism it is that on the website it does not state that the fishing lake is down a hill and if you have a lung condition (like ourselves) then it is very difficult to get yourself and your kit back up.
That aside we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the wardens were very helpful and friendly.

We have just returned from a 4 day visit at Pensagillas Park, we originally booked five days but decided 4 was enough!
I am surprised that so many people raved about how wonderful this camp sight and how its improved so much. (heaven knows how bad it was before the improvement's because it is a very BASIC site compared with others we have stayed at)
The good points.
1. The scenery is breathtaking
2. The showers were free
3. The owners were friendly
4. The lake was awesome
5. Rattler cider
On sight store practically no food so a bacon bap in the mornings was a no go.
The electrical hook up that we paid for was partially their fault because they didn't mention that we needed a special socket to go into the electrical hook up which wasn't mentioned on their web sight and as I said it was our fault as novice campers we assumed it was part of the package and didn't query it!
The launderette only had one washing machine working ( see a review from 2014 to confirm this ) and one dryer.
Their website states that the nearest shops were 2 miles away which is strange when Mavagissey is 4 miles away and St Austell's Asda is 6 miles away ( this was measured driving there, so it was a 12 mile trip each day)
My own personal concern was there were no recycling bins ie glass/cardboard. Tin etc. Just one Biffa bin that filled up in one day.
This site is no good for those without a car as Pensagillas Park is in the middle of no where. Be prepared to do a lot of driving.
Trying to find a proper beach there and around was a fruitless task as there aren't any, even though the sea is quite close by car, there's plenty of ports but no local beaches like Bude has.
Entertainment consisted of a nice new bar room with a large TV and bingo every Wednesday at 7. 30. The pool table / chess table and table top football were under a shed roof and were looking a little tired but still worked. ( the pool cue was bent lol)
Wi FI was none existent even in the bar!
The toilets were miles away and took a good 5 mins to reach from our pitch. The showers were free but there wasn't any where to put your clothes from getting wet.
Finally this is a FAMILY friendly site so expect the ages to range from babies to toddlers to teens, so it wasn't the quietest of pitches with toddlers asking loudly for a bed time story at 11 pm when it was meant to be quiet time from 10pm onwards( to be fare most people adhered to this)
In conclusion we booked this site based on the reviews and the budget price so we got a budget site.

Great site, good clean basic facilities and very helpful owners, even helped us out as we had no juice with us for the children.
I can't comment on the shop or bar as these weren't used. We had to re book our day, due to our car problem, but the owners were very helpful, we asked for a pitch with electric hook up, which was offered, but decided to go near the pond instead where we had plenty of space.
Would definitely recommend.

What a shame someone has left a bad review - I'm not entirely sure 'Dave and Helen' are genuine - they must have got their wires crossed with a different site!
I can simply copy and paste (with a couple of changes) my review from 2013 as this year was just as good in every way, with some significant improvements having been made to the site.
We stayed at Pensagillas for two weeks with three children aged 13, 11 and 6. This was our second visit having spent a lovely two weeks here last August.
What a lovely place! There is plenty of space to pitch, nowhere near the restrictions like other sites which have all jumped on a bandwagon of charging extra for kids, pup tents, utility tents etc. There is none of that here - it's a wonderful, traditional campsite, and is one of the main reasons we chose it. We were not disappointed.
The owners David & Katya were friendly, approachable and take pride in their site. They always take time out of their busy day to chat to their campers.
There are five fields - four on the main campsite and another across the road where the fishing lake is. Electric hook up is available for most (75%) of the pitches. The site does slope in places, but the majority of the pitches are predominantly level. Pitches are well spaced, which only adds to the enjoyment of the holiday - I've seen plenty of sites where they cram you in like sardines - and for me there is nothing worse. At Pensagillas you'll have plenty of room to spread out creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The middle of the fields is a nice open space for the kids to play, with the pitches being all around the edges.
The bar is a friendly place with reasonable prices and gives people a great opportunity to meet up and get to know each other. There was bingo every Sunday which the kids loved. Big screen TV too which is nice if the weather isn't so good. However, we enjoyed two weeks of solid sunshine, with only two bursts of rain which came at night. There is a pool table and a few arcade machines, and a giant chess set outside.
Plenty of seating inside and out, and free Wi-Fi. The lack of arcade machines was a big positive for us - it encouraged the kids to play more traditional games and use some energy! It makes it easier on the pocket too! I note in previous reviews reference has been made to the noise from the bar. Whilst it is lively, we didn't find it too bad - and we only had a row of trees between us and the bar. It's normally quiet again by about midnight at the latest, so it's not like it goes on until the early hours.
The shop is convenient for basics - open in the morning and again in the afternoon. Very reasonable prices.
Washing up facilities are good - very new and in the same new building as the shop, right in the middle of the site.
Showers were spacious and clean, nice hot water and even though there are currently only three, we rarely had to queue - sometimes a 5 minute wait but on the whole we were straight in. Those moaning about waiting times - try showering at less busy times! An easy alternative.
The laundry has two washing machines and two tumble driers, plus a couple of irons, at very reasonable rates - half what you'd pay elsewhere. We did a few loads of washing whilst we were there.
The fishing lake is great (and huge) - very picturesque, well kept and very relaxing. The kids enjoyed it.
Overall the site is very well kept considering the numbers of people coming and going - everything was cleaned regularly and well looked after. I can't for the life of me see how people have had reason to complain in previous reviews - if you're moaning about a door needing a lick of paint then I think it's scraping the barrel and just looking for something to criticise. Those complaining need to go elsewhere - clearly you expect something for nothing.
It's not the ritz - and the prices mean you can expect good, basic facilities, but I would still say this site is above basic. It has everything you want/need at very reasonable rates and if you're not someone who wants a 5* setting then you'll be very happy here.
It's the perfect base to explore Cornwall - being quite central, everything is within easy reach with nothing much more than an hour away. St Austell is 7 miles for your shopping needs. Truro is 12 miles in the other direction. Mevagissey is 4 miles. A lovely fishing village with traditional shops and eateries. I can highly recommend 'Central Cafe' for superb fish and chips.
If you're in search of the best Cornish Pasties, then get yourself to Tregonissey Butchers, 145 Tregonissey Road, St Austell PL25 4DS - they will blow you away! The best we found by a mile. We pre-ordered 25 part baked ones this year to take home with us.
Beaches:
Caerhayes, 4 miles away, has the most amazing beach - Porthluney Cove. Part of the Caerhayes estate, the setting is amazing - a beautiful sandy beach over the road from Caerhayes Castle. Parking is £3 for the whole day - very reasonable.
PorthPean, approximately 8 miles away on the Porthpean Road past Duporth is another gem - kayak hire at reasonable rates or just a nice sandy beach to relax on whilst the kids let off steam. Parking again is £3 for the day, dropping to £2 after 2pm.
There are others but those are the two I'd pick as the best local ones.
So, for Pensagillas Park Camp Site, the verdict is easy - it's a lovely place, and we loved it so much we re-booked for next year before we left. The kids had a great time and we loved the relaxed atmosphere. I genuinely can't think of a single fault for this site. It's fantastic value for money.
Many thanks to the owners for making our stay special, relaxed and enjoyable. We are already looking forward to returning to see you next year!

Just returned form camping in Pensagillas Park. What a lovely camp site. Great location, beautiful views, all the amenities you can think of are there- spotless shower/toilet facilities, hot water, well maintained grounds. You can even have breakfast cooked for you! My kids loved the lake! We would never want to go anywhere else now! The owners are extremely helpful. I give 10/10

Great campsite. £20. 00 a night in high season and the facilities are great if a little dated- if you are expecting 5* for cheap prices then you will be disappointed.
The owners were really friendly and welcoming.
Free showers plenty hot water and plenty of room-only three and the site was quite busy when we were there and there was a bit of a wait in the morning.
Bar was great nice bar meals and reasonable priced beer if you hungry and the bingo was a great idea on Sunday night.
Big fishing lake in nice setting and was free for people staying on site -hubby love it.
Cant comment on the shop as we never used it.
Central to lots of places to visit -travel on the ferry to Polperro well worth a visit.
Local pub at Hewas about 5 min drive great food nice atmosphere and reasonably priced.
Not the best dog walk on site but you can walk them round the lake which is great.
Laundry reasonably priced £2. 50 a wash and the dryers 40p a turn.
We will definitely be returning

Having got back from a lovely cornish experience(no thanks to the campsite experience!) I have read a handful of reviews and wonder if there are 2 pensigallas sites as we definatey didn't have the same opinion as the good reviews, they must have been looking through some very rose tinted glasses!
the road way in is treacherous and I spent most of the stay worrying if we would get the van out in one piece. Just pray you don't meet anything coming down the road. The wash facilities were dirty, poor quality and far from acceptable. The laundry was usable! just one machine working one out of order. The pictures are soooo air brushed that or the camera is deluded! we didn't see one level pitch and had to pitch in the hedge to get a reasonable area! the kids from other campers just walked into the awning and on more than one occasion just waltzed into the van! it was loud at night time, the shop was a waste of time! never open, the site owner we saw 1 he was a miserable non-plus kind of person, the facilities were run down non operational, the vending machines and games used as a puller to book were derelict! no food in them and those few bits left would have been out of date! we decided not to eat at the serving hatch having seen the rest of the site not wishing for food poisoning to add to the experience! we spent as much time off site as we could. The only bonus was mevagissey being so close, but we did sus out other sites in the area to go next time as hell will freeze over before we werete 2 weeks here again. Oh yer. And the hook up was a joke, it kept tripping out at the bar breaker box at least 20 times a night so impossible to watch t. V in the evening.

Just come back from a bank-holiday stay at Pensagillas. How to describe it? Bloody fantastic. There have been some serious improvements since the last time I was here. We rented a Touring Caravan. It was cheap but clean and had all the amenities that we required. The owners went out of the way to make sure that we had all we needed. The bar and shop were open for most of the weekend. The site is well laid out with large pitches and well mowed grounds. Great fun will definitely book again :)
