Arrived on site in rain down very narrow roads. Good directions to get there. The owner was very helpful and offered us a choice of pitches - (we hadn't booked). The site is within easy reach of Mevagissy, St Austell, the Gardens of Heligan and the coast path. There is a large, very peaceful fishing lake a short walk from the site.
The weather was awful with rain every day and 2 of the 4 camping fields became very muddy, especially in the gateways and it was increasingly difficult to move vehicles on and off the fields. We had to resort to leaving our car in the next field to be sure to be able to get off the site! The owner tried to help by towing some cars with his tractor and putting some straw down but his main reaction was 'If you will keep driving on it.'
The toilets were not particularly clean - even allowing for the muddy conditions and children were allowed to make a nuisance of themselves in and around the toilets and showers - even adding to the mud by playing with the hosepipe intended for cleaning the showers!
The bar/shop offering pasties and milk had neither when we tried to buy them.
This is not a site for people who like a quiet holiday - or it wasn't when we were there as children were shouting and screaming until well after 11pm and there was noise from TVs until well into the early hours of the morning and again at 7am.
We gave up after 1 week and spent the second at another site that was quiet and had clean facilities even though the weather continued to be horrendous.

Arrived to be greeted and shown to pitch by the owners son.Nice large pitch with nice views of the surrounding fields. Facilities were adequate but abit on the grubby side as the day progressed, showers free and water always hot and a bar that unfortunately closed after our 3rd day there.Nearest pub in St Ewe a mile away was very expensive for what we ordered, only went once! Mevagissey about 4 miles away was beautiful with plenty lovely places to eat and a beach (long walk with many steps but worth it when we got there) best place to park £2 a day was the mevagissey recreation centre just on the right as you drive into town. Nice quiet site and the fishing pool is free if on site but no sightings of the 25lb carp!

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks at this site having had it recommended by my brother and his family.
The toilet facilities were very clean and excellent long wet rooms for showers with plenty of room and no chance of your clothes getting soaked by the showers.
This campsite is along a quiet lane approx 5 miles from Mevagissey where we ate out a couple of times and near to St Austell and all the amenities it offers.
The site has a large trampoline which the kids loved and a small bar / shop which you can purchase some food from.
The owners were extremely helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We have visited Cornwall on many occassions over the past 40 or so years mostly to the Newquay area but found that it was getting too commercialised for our liking but Pensagillas has restored our faith in Camping in Cornwall and we will definitely be back in 2008.

Fantastic site. We have been there several times now and love the peace and tranquility. We take 3 of our boys with us and I love the fact that there are no arcades so they have to make their own entertainment. Cops and robeers in the dark with most of the other children is great fun! Clean large showers and good toilets.
Mevagissy is good for evening meals(3 or 4 places to choose from). Lots to do in the area, nice beaches, good seaside towns and other local attractions.

We had a lovely holiday here. We camped at the bottom of the field away from the electric hookups and reception/toilets/bar/television room and it was soooooo peaceful, even in the middle of August!
Plenty of space, very relaxed atmosphere, very friendly, perfect for a 'get away from it all' holiday.
We chose our pitch, left when we were packed, rather than having to leave by a certain time, which was more than fine with the owners.
Great showers, very warm, plenty of room for adult and kids. Only slight criticism is that the men's toilets could have been cleaned more thoroughly, but there again I am very fussy!
Tennis court was fine for our level of tennis! (Let's just say that 2 or 3 bounces of the ball is normal between shots!). Lovely fishing lake in the adjacent field.
Great location for access to many beaches and local towns.
Heligan Gardens is a must and is only 1-2 miles away.
We would definitely use this site again.

We booked this campsite in February, when there was no reviews to go off. The description seemed just what we were looking for. Then the 1st review appeared and it reinforced our opinion that we had chosen well. Having just come back, I agree with everything the 1st review states- lovely campsite, down a quiet secluded lane, lots of space for each pitch. Large "wet rooms". Some of the campsites we passed on the main road to Mevagissey looked really cramped and chaotic. Not for us. Having travelled 9 hours I was looking forward to getting the awning up and having a nice meal form the onsite pub, but was disappointed that it only served, burger and chips or sausage and chips. There was nothing in walking distance, so we drove into Mevagissey for a meal. This was my only gripe, so perhaps I was just overtired from the journey. We were on pitch 1, the closest to the toilets/showers, just at the other side of the bushes that hid the amenities. Very handy. And it was hardstanding. (gravel for the awning was ok for tent pegs) There was a large trampoline on the site which my 2 girls loved to play on. We had lovely weather for the week that we were there and visited lots of lovely places- you must visit Charlestown and Fowey. Lunch overlooking the harbour at Fowey made me feel I was actually abroad. Newquay was not too far for a day out. Also went to Padstow, Tintagel, Boscastle and St Mawes. For the 2nd week of our holidays we moved onto Mill Park campsite, Devon.

We had a great time here. The beaches were beautiful and very quiet. Perfect for the dog and the children. The facilities were good as well. We had a great day out at the eden project so this campsite is perfect for a visit there and a must do attraction if your in that area. The walk along the coast were simply fantastic. It's a beautiful quiet retreat. Well worth a visit.

We have just spent 2 weeks at Pensagillas park and can honestly say it was absolutely superb. It is perfect for relaxing and recharging those batteries. The campsite is lovely and quiet and all the pitches are around the edge of the meadows so the children had loads of room to play football and generally run and wear themselves out. The facilities are very clean and everything we hoped for, they have toilets, showers and a laundry room and even a pool table which kept my son and husband amused. One of the many things I liked about the site was the fact that it was tucked away down the end of a private drive so you didnt have the problem of a constant drone of passing traffic, which you sometimes get with campsites Mevagissey, the beaches and lost gardens of heligan are not much more than 10 or 15 mins away which is convenient It is nice to find a site that hasnt turned itself into one of these themepark campsites which cram you in so tight you can barely breathe! I highly recommend Pensagillas if you want to get away from it all and relax, I have already booked my pitch for 2007 and cant wait
