By far the best campsite us two have been to.

Great setting,

Ludicrously clean and well priced.

Van Gogh nearby, it was unexpectedly fabulous.

Wish we’d stayed longer.

Used this as a rest stop on our way to the Med. Very neat, tidy and well-maintained. Not cheap, there was a booking fee, and the WiFi a bit hit and miss, but we didn’t pay anything for it using a ‘pay before you buy’ coupon issued at reception. Quite a few children since it was the tail end of the Easter holiday for some. Why do parents allow their kids to bounce a ball - sheer torture!

Lovely to be within walking distance of St Rémy with its delightful historic centre connected with Van Gogh and Nostradamus. We enjoyed a superb lunch with wine (we were on foot!) at La Cuisine des Anges - the pot roast lamb was delicious.

Would use the site again.

Lovely site. Very clean, pitches are spacious and private with hedges between each one. The toilet and shower facilities are spotless, although not sure about having them communal for both men and women. The shop is very well stocked, and on a Sunday you get to buy a rotisserie chicken which was delicious. Supermarket vry close within walking distance, and the town is walkable too, which is a huge plus for us. The pool and bar area are superb too. We don’t usually stay on big campsites, but it didn’t feel as if it was packed, even though most pitches were full. Would come back here anytime.

This is the second time we have stayed here. It is extremely well kept and this was all the more noticable to us as we had spent the previous two nights at two different campsites where it seemed they had opened and made no effort to clear up the winter debry or to cut grass or prepare in any way for the new season. Everything was immaculate at Monplaisir.

We were taken round the site to choose a free emplacement and suggestions made re sun/shade and ease of access. Good English is spoken at reception and in the lovely little shop. Pitches are a good size and have a gravel on grass surface and separated with neat hedges. No restaurant at this time of year but the pool was open and heated (a little!). There are plenty of showers and toilets with all blocks seeming to be open even although the site was far from full. All facilities of a very high standard.

About a 15 minute walk to the town centre and half that to a decent sized Intermarche. The market is on Wednesdays.

Love this site, we have been about four times over the last ten years. It really is the sort of site we measure others against. This time it was very busy, possibly because of all the bank holidays in may. Its very popular with the dutch and germans. The reception is open from 8 to 8 and they are very friendly and speak english. The small shop stocks a little of most things and a large supermarket is just a ten minute walk along the road. There is good wifi, payable but free for the first day. The pitches are large with hedges and trees. This is a very well kept site, the owner was planting geraniums when we left. The toilet blocks are cleaned constantly and have soap and toilet paper. The cleaner seems to spend her day going from one block to another on her golf cart. The small laundry room is very well set up with four washing machines and two dryers. No detergent is needed as it is dispensed automatically and there is a cash box on the wall to operate them. I think it also accepted cards. We were going to stay five or six days but stayed ten! The town is about fifteen minutes walk and there are numerous cafes, restaurants and little shops. The market is very good and is on wednesdays. There's quite a programme of events all summer, just ask reception for the brochure. Nearly forgot, the bar/cafe isn't open until high season but the pool is. You can hire bikes but its a bit pricey.

Great site. We enjoyed the privacy the hedges around the pitch provided. For the most part the site is quite & peaceful & seems to have a lot of regulars who have their caravans stored by the site. Facilities clean & modern. Staff great, shop simple but adequate but plenty shops very closeby. Restuarant food not bad if a little pricey but plenty other options in town a walk or short drive away.

Visited end of may 2015 for one week with my wife and three children (14, 12 & 9). We stayed in one of their static mobiles which was to a very good spec, however they only have 2 bedroom homes on site, so be aware.

We arrived to a friendly welcome from staff. The shop is joined to reception and is small but well stocked. The restaurant was not open until the beginning of June which was disappointing to many people as looked nice.

We felt the site was small, well kept and facilities very clean. I can only comment on May and not high season, but this site was very much aimed at the baby boomers with 90% of visitors between 65-80+.

The pool is pleasant, but NOT HEATED, so again be aware as in May not really that useable. My children are reasonably well behaved (i know all parents say that) anyway one of my children was told off by an older lady by the pool for playing catch with his sister. She informed them all she wanted was peace and quiet which on holiday was not unreasonable, and surrounded by older people all reading is understandable. However, this is not an adult site only, it is not a sandals holiday as I politely reminded the lady in question.

The site lacked facilities for children i. E. Poor play areas etc. I think the owners would be better off having it as a adult camp site.

I won't cover the surrounding area as this has been done before.

In summary, if your 65+ and don't mind a cold pool then this site deserved a very good award. However, it does not deserve the 10/10 IMHO due to limited facilities and an unheated pool.

Had 6 nights at this excellent site after 11 days in Italy. Facilities are of a very high standard - I don't think I've seen toilets/showers cleaned as often.

Owners / staff very friendly and helpful. The rose wine from their shop a steal at 3 euro a litre!

Site was still 'complet' mid Sept which says a lot for the quality of the place. Lovely big pitch with plenty of shade - much needed with temperatures in the eighties.

Great base for exploring - we only did Avignon, Pont du Gard and the Alpilles this year - I'm sure we'll return and do more.

We stayed at Monplaisir for 9 nights in late August. We were looking for a quiet site that didn't bombard us with entertainment all day/night long but located in an area of Provence that allowed us to go exploring different areas. Monplaisir was the perfect choice.

We are quite fussy about campsites, but can honestly say this is an immaculately run site, clean and tidy with all the services and amenities mentioned on their website.

Plenty of up-to-date showers/toilets blocks and although the site was full whilst we were there we never had to wait/queue. They were cleaned regularly during the day and were always acceptable.

English is spoken by most of the reception staff and they were very helpful and polite at all times.

The on-site shop is good and the local wine at 3 euros per litre is excellent. Fresh bread, pastries, cheese, meats, milk and much more.

The on-site restaurant is good. We ate there twice in the evenings and could not fault the food. Service on the first night was slow. A wait of 50 minutes for a pizza is not good, but when it arrived it was worth the wait. Service on the second night was far better. Overall, the food was excellent.

The site is located a pleasant 1km walk from a supermarket and in the outskirts of the town of St Rémy which is charming. Wednesday is market day and worth spending the morning there.

We prefer adult only sites and these are few and far between in France, but without a doubt Monplaisir is the next best thing and we would thoroughly recommend it if you are considering Provence for a holiday.

They do take bookings (but charge a booking fee of 18 euros) so our advice would be to check for availability before traveling, then arrive as close to 8am as possible when the reception opens. Gates open at 7am so you can gain access to the site if you are a bit earlier and perhaps have a wander around the site to gather available pitch information before booking in.

One further tip for 'tenters' without a fridge in hot climates; they sell frozen bottles of water (1 euro) for your cool box which last considerably longer than the standard ice packs and provide a cold bottle of water when thawed the next day.

You will not be disappointed with this site. It is one of the best we have stayed at in France.

An absolute gem, just a pity we could only stay for two nights.

Clean and modern with spacious, private pitches and the shop/reception had an extensive range that was fairly priced (there's also an Intermarche within easy walking distance). Lovely swimming pool area which has a permanent lifeguard and opens up to the bar and snack bar. There is a Mediterranean garden attached where you can sunbathe on lush grass or shelter from the sun under trees.

The motorhome service area was a bit of a tight fit but that's barely a criticism and we'll be back next time we're in the area as it's well situated for visits to Avignon and Arles and just five minutes from the wonderful Roman town of Glanum.
