Back for our annual visit to this site. They are also after a 2 year break taking ACSI discount cards again for a reasonable 19€ pn including electric outside Jul/Aug peak so all good.

Electric pitches suitable for caravans are somewhat limited now due to the site being slowly filled with more rental mobile homes each year. Plenty of hard standing motor home pitches though but extreme care should be taken pitching caravans due to the soft sand surface. A 4x4 truck is there to pull you out for free if you do get stuck.

We got a good pitch though with a nice view which was windy but plenty of space around us. If you want no wind then pitch further away from sea but you may feel hemmed in.

The sanitary facilities have always been a bit so so on this site although they have been upgraded over the years. Not all have hot water. If you want a good shower then go to enclosed shower block near site centre commercial.

Main big pool which has flumes has been upgraded this year to include a kids pool. Not open until mid June but the other covered & heated pool in another part of the site is open throughout site season though.

Site does get very busy July/Aug you need to book for that time & it is expensive which is why we nowadays go there before the rush starts.

It’s all about location really. Site has direct access to naturist beach which has lifeguards mid June to mid Sept. Only go in sea in lifeguarded area unless you are surfing due to strong currents.

It’s a great site if you like the sea & beaches & worth a visit.

Back again to Monta. Our favourite naturist site. This time in early July. Did not book but still a reasonable selection of non electric pitches available. No electric pitches left not that we wanted one because it is all extra cost on a already expensive campsite. It is best really to visit June or September with ACSI card much cheaper & quieter but didn’t suit our schedule this year.

We were pitched opposite a large sanitaire which suited us because wash basins had plug sockets to let me save gas by boiling electric kettle & charge my phone with line of sight from pitch.

Site did get really busy I suppose because Covid is supposed to be over. All very jolly though & weather was really hot. I suppose too hot but mustn’t grumble. We chose a nice shady pitch because forecast was hot. Plenty of pitches at front of site near beach have no shade so take your pick.

Beach is lovely & 2 lifeguarded places to swim or just jump in the surf between the flags. Don’t swim elsewhere on beach due to currents. Plenty do go surfing. Whole stretch of south west coast here is popular for surfing. The campsite runs a surfing school. We are too old for all that though. We just enjoy the beach & going in the sea.

There is also a big pool with slides & elsewhere on site is another pool better suited to those who want to swim lengths.

The centre of campsite has shops & cafes & often rock pop & folk bands perform there in the evenings July/Aug. There is an Aldi about half mile outside campsite open 7 days which we always use. Montalivet town a short distance away is always busy with a 7 day a week large market & as many cafes & restaurants as you could ever want.

So give it a whirl if you fancy a bit of naturist camping. You will probably find you like it.

Back here again for another visit. As it worked out we went in August which was peak time & place was rammed with little choice of pitches as we never bother to book.

It is best to book if going in July/Aug but you need to know the site to get a good pitch as there is a lot of variation. This accounts for the varied reviews.

The site ticks all our boxes as it is right by the sea with direct access to huge official naturist beach but as pointed out in previous reviews sanitary facilities can get a bit overwhelmed at peak times.

As we were there for only 12 nights we went for a non electric pitch to save a bit but still not cheap at over 40€pn though. The non electric pitches are all the front end of the site nearest the beach.

This part of the site has the nicest ambience imo but is more exposed to the strong onshore wind that sometimes gets up. It can also be a bit of a walk to the toilet/shower blocks as well.

Out of Jul/Aug peak the site accepts ACSI cards for 18€pn & we will try to stick to June or Sept & avoid crowds in future.

Overall we had a good experience though. Weather was warm & sunny. Main pool with water slides near beach gets very crowded Jul/Aug but there is another smaller pool elsewhere on site that is much less busy. This pool has roped off lanes if you want to do some proper swimming.

At the centre of the site there are 2 food shops & several restaurants although we use the Aldi half mile outside the site. Only a short cycle ride or drive to Montalivet town & even when busy you can still park for free.

You pay expensively if you want to use the WiFi on the campsite but outside the tourist info office in the town there is good free WiFi. Phone signal on the site is good though.

We will certainly be back at some point next year.

We have visited CHM at some point every year for about 25years. Since the new owners took over it has become very expensive in the July/Aug peak but outside those times they accept ACSI card at 18€pn so reasonable.

The site is all about the location right behind the official naturist beach. Atlantic coast so popular for surfing but safe swimming only in the lifeguarded space between the flags. Lifeguards on beach only in main holiday period though.

Large pool with slides near beach has been built a few years ago & is open for the main peak holiday period. The original but recently upgraded pool is available as well & open all the time the site is open. Pools are lifeguarded & clean.

There are plenty of sanitary facilities throughout the site but not all have hot water provided. They are cleaned regularly but can get overwhelmed July/Aug peak when site is very busy.

Site is massive with shops in the centre & an Aldi only half a mile down the road open 7days in summer. The local town of Montalivet is a lovely seaside resort with a big market & plenty of places to eat.

Tbf a large commercial campsite is never going to have the owner’s personal care as with a small privately owned site so it has to be viewed in that way. Also the beachside nature of the campsite means the surface is mostly sand which of course gets everywhere & care must be taken not to get your vehicle stuck on the pitch but should this happen the staff will pull you out with a 4x4.

We love the place though because the pluses more than outweigh the minuses. So well worth a visit.

To update my previous review. Naturist cards no longer required & camping pitches are being lost to rental units year on year. It is getting to stage where booking is required Jul/Aug to get your pitch of choice but outside of these time there is plenty of availability. I would agree it is a bit love/hate with CHM. If you love it like we do then you do tend to forgive the roughness of the site. It is what it is. A huge commercial naturist site with a beachside location & no shortage of campers at peak period. Outside peak it is quiet & peaceful. The cleaners do find it hard to keep up when the site gets really busy. Not all the sanitary facilities have hot water & the best pitches nearest to the beach do not have ehu.

The plus side is that it's the combination of sea sun & beach that gives CHM the unique atmosphere & ambience that it has. If you can put up with a site that is mostly sand, rough tracks around the site & difficulty of getting a level pitch near to beach you will love the naturist experience you get from CHM.

Very Tired site! The welcome you get in reception is underwhelming being left standing at the desk for 15 minutes until they can be bothered to deal with you, and the whole experience goes downhill from then onwards. Do not take your dog as the place is NOT dog friendly. We were very pleased to leave and move to another site.

This is a very large site in a wooded area on the Atlantic shore. It has a lot of facilities and shops compared to many sites. However it has a dated and slightly rundown look. When we visited there was a cost for wi-fi.

Many of the pitches are on a sandy base and this could be a problem for the unwary.

Some might like the site size but other might find it all a bit overwhelming.

Overall somewhat underwhelmed but does provide the essentials with access to beach.

Staff OK but booking in was very slow and they were not well informed on local amenities. Pitches on small side and some sandy. Overall the site did seem a bit jaded. The Wi-Fi provision was expensive and not at all flexible.

Compared to most sites good shopping facilities. Swimming pools good especially one close to beach. Beach good when tide is in.

What a great site this is. Everything you need in one location. We didn't feel the need to leave site at all during our holiday. You can do as little or as much as you want. Plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained. All facilities were spotless and friendly helpful staff. We took our dog and the staff helped us organise our visit to the vet before our return journey. Will definitely be returning again next year.

We have been visiting this Naturist site for many yrs. A Naturist(INF)licence is required but if you don't have one they will be happy to sell you one! Huge site, probably over 1 kilometre square! Its good to bring bikes to get around the site(bike hire available)& there are cycle tracks all over the whole area. It has direct acess to the sandy naturist beach which is over 1km long so plenty of room. There are 2 lifeguarded areas for swimming & on this & any part of the French SW coast it is dangerous to swim outside lifeguarded sections due to strong currents. The whole coast is popular with surfers.

Many pitches get booked in peak season & there are a lot of permanently sited caravans but there are always vacant pitches & you will always get in on spec even in Jul/Aug peak. The surface is sand so bring long sand pegs for tent/awning. I would say only about half the available pitches have EHU & access for caravans/motorhomes can be difficult on some parts of the site but there are plenty of hardstanding pitches as well. The staff will pull you out for free with a 4X4 if you get stuck in the sand! Although the pitches are sand many are covered with pine needles that makes them ok to drive on & the access roads are ok. The site has plenty of trees & you can usually find a shaded pitch if required.

The toilets/showers are dotted about the site, the worst ones have now been upgraded & are generally fine but check those nr you before you pitch up. Usually cleaned twice daily. Bring your own toilet paper, as with many French sites.

There is an excellent outdoor 'fun' pool complex with slides etc in front of site nr beach, opened a couple of yrs ago, it has plenty of lifeguards. The old pool on another part of the site is still open & is ideal for those who want to do 'proper' swimming.

Plenty of organised children's activities but all in French language tho. Although the campers are from all over Europe including plenty of Brits the site retains a very 'French' atmosphere but the reception staff do speak English. The site has a large 'Centre commercial' with supermarkets & restaurants/takeaways & it is possible to buy all you need without leaving the site, but obviously local supermarkets will be cheaper. There is an Aldi nearby but for a large Carrefour or LeClercs you need to drive at least 12miles.

The weather Jul/Aug is generally sunny mid-high 20s with cool sea breezes, very agreeable to those who don't like stifling heat. Rain is usually at night, can be heavy & you need to choose your pitch carefully on this undulating site, especially with a tent.

The nearby village of Montalivet has a large daily market & loads of restaurants/shops & the larger town of Soulac is about 10miles away. The whole area is touristic but not overcrowded.
