Only a few spots for campervans so arrive early.
Site is clean, well looked after and has a lovely pool and small restaurant.
Catch the bus to La Rochelle which run every hour but no buses on Sundays. Cost 1 euro 30 cents.
Nice restaurant in the village or longer walk to more at the port.

Only stayed here for one night but that was enough.
A very unkempt site. Acis gives it as a 4 star site but we have stayed in 3 star sites much better than this.
Very stony and and not very much boarders around each pitch.
WiFi was good around site. Pool closes at 1800 which is very early so didn’t get to use it.
Did use the bar. The shop was about 1 shelf in the bar.
Would not stay again as much better sites in the area.

Friendly welcome from English speaking receptionist. Choice of available pitches which were of a reasonable size and were bordered with hedges and trees for shade. Our pitch was quite stoney and quite hard on the tent Groundsheet and pegs, we mostly had to use Rock pegs, not sure how common this was but something to be aware of when choosing a pitch. Toilets were clean and functional but no frills and probably a bit overdue for refurb.
WiFi is free and supposedly covers the campsite but on our pitch it was very weak if at all but good at Snack Bar.
Nice village just up the road and 1min walk down to sea and Port Le Plomb. Easy and cheap bus ride into La Rochelle, bus stop very close to site.
Snack bar on site but we did not use it so cannot comment.
2 Supermarkets a short drive away.
They are on the process of constructing a swimming pool to open 2015.

Charismatic and humorous check in with the Portuguese manager, both helpful and friendly. Pitches quite close together but separated and shady. Facilities not the most modern but clean and adequate. No toilet seats and common roll of bog paper outside loos. Showers were OK.
La Rochelle is lovely and within cycling distance as is the Ile de Re, also a must see. Indeed La Rochelle is very much a cyclists' city, having had Boris Johnson style hire bikes since the 1970s.
Bought food at LIDL, but also ate out at the campsites bar/restaurant. Steak and chips with wine came to 30 Euros for two including a small tip. Plenty to eat, well cooked, but not much finesse.
Overall not at all bad but some room for improvement.

Friendly campsite tucked away off one of the main roads in L'Homeau.
Pitches separated by hedging. Camping pitches interspersed with mobile holiday homes.
Small bar / restaurant/ takeaway. Laundry facilities.
Toilet/shower facilities adequate - usual lack of toilet seats and loo roll but this appears a common occurrence in France.
Walking distance to town centre with local deli/ butcher and mini market.
Had a lovely meal at the L'Avocette restaurant - friendly English speaking owner.
La Rochelle and the Ille de Re within cycling distance - would recommend a visit to both these fabulous places.
Very friendly staff at reception.
Would have given 10/10 if the place had a pool!

We had ten nights booked here and on arrival were made to feel very welcome by the young staff who were running the place. Our allocated pitch at the top end of the site, away from reception, wasn't big and bordered by tall shrubs on three sides. We could only just get our small caravan and awning on it. However we stuck with it as the site was virtually full and we could reach the electrical supply, others nearby couldn't and were looking for extension leads.
Reception itself was packed with information and generally always open. You could get breakfast essentials at the bar in the morning and eat there at night or get a 'take-away'.
The washblock at our end of the site was sadly very tired and in need of some serious updating. The showers were a disaster and in the men's, people actually queued for the only shower where the water ran for more than one second when the button was pushed. My wife tells me the ladies was much the same. Mind you the water was scalding hot and you couldn't regulate the temperature so you didn't want to stay under for long.
The other washblock seemed to be similar.
Free wifi was a big bonus and reception was good across the site. You could play boules, hire bikes and there was a small but interesting playarea for children.
The big plus for this site is the location. Access to La Rochelle where there is so much going on is easy by bike, bus or car(15 mins) with lots of parking available. The aquarium is a must as is the daily market. The area is not remotely boring as suggested by another reviewer. There are miles of superb and yes, flat cycle paths, much of it away from any traffic and running alongside fields of sunflowers and along the clifftops. Maps are available free at reception. It's a short drive to places like the 'green venice'/ Marais poitevin and the Ile de Re. Locally the beach is rocky but at high tide you can go fishing and catch tiddlers in the port.
There are some great restaurants in the area, and two supermarkets within ten minutes drive.
The site was very busy and vacated pitches were quickly filled. It was a real mix of nationalities.
Would we go again to this site? The area has so much going for it and we really enjoyed visiting it (both 50+) but I think we would try to find an alternative site. We've camped in France for over thirty years but these wash blocks were a real disappointment and not what we expected from a 3* site.

Just returned from a 12 night stay at this site, so feel 'qualified' to give a good overall, unbiased review. Having been a camper for 20+ years at home AND abroad, I feel the wife and I know what we are talking about!
Previous reviews talk about 'hacking through vegetation to reach pitches' - total rubbish and wouldn't like to pitch next to an idiot like that anyway.
The site is around half a kilometre from the very basic but immaculate village of L'houmeau.
The Restaurant in the village is lovely as is the owner.
There are brand new owners of the site who are feeling their way in, so to speak, but are enthusiastic and friendly.
The bar, shop and reception were open constantly whilst we were there and the friendliness off ALL thr staff was fantastic.
Facilities were cleaned at LEAST twice a day and apart from a hot water issue on the lower shower block, were very good.
Would I use this site again? If we were in the area again we would but the area itself is a little flat and frankly, boring.
So, lovely campsite, good facilities, great staff, boring region.

Had a good 7 nights here, after initially booking for 3 on the ACSI. As we got there mid-day, the place was shut, so we (my mate with his caravan) had a wander round till reception re-opened. There were a good number of empty pitchs, so we earmarked the ones we fancied. Having agreed with the affable bloke (when he re-opened), which pitchs we would like, we set up shop towards the top end of the site.
Pitchs were generally level, and of a decent size. There are two shower blocks, but the top one is out of use, (apart from having a fresh water tap) and I personally cant see it getting on stream any time soon, as the proprietor, for all his affability, gave the distinct impression he wasn't in any rush to do much more than show you pitchs and collect the fees when you checked out. I say this because it became increasingly obvious that apart from the one remaining shower block - that was always kept very clean (though no loo seats for those that may be bothered), little or no maintenance ever seemed to be done on site. Hence the partitioning hedges and general vegetation were getting way out of hand all over the place. Indeed, the grass on our own pitch edges had reached 18 inches in places, making it obvious it hadnt seen a mower for weeks.
The leccy - well ours at least, wasn't reverse polarity. But do make sure you have at least 30/40 metres of cable, as some pitchs are a stretch in busy times when choices may not be as easy to make as we had. There was a decent mix of nationalities, and plenty of peace and quiet to boot.
This aside, we had a belting stay, and it wouldn't put me off returning - even if I had to machete my way up the site to a pitch!
The reception cum shop sold little but wine and jam of all things, but the nearby village had general staples. One thing the shop did sell was 1 euro bus tickets to La Rochelle, which were cheaper than buying on the bus. As mentioned, La Rochelle is well worth a visit or two. Theres a 'bar' and games room on site, which were both shut. And again, id be surprised if they were opened up any time soon. Also, there's a small play area, but generally, I wouldn't take kids to this place as there's not a lot for them anywhere near. Finally, there's some good cycling down to the harbour on quiet roads, too.
Ive marked the place just 7 out of ten, for no other reason than it wants a good gardening session!

Warm welcome on arrival in good English and we were given plenty of choice to set up.
Electric hook up was generally quite a distance from the space so long leads needed.
Showers very hot and always clean despite the block looking a little tired from the outside. Inside everything spotless and the cleaner was very much in evidence.
Wifi and TV was best from the higher sites but this was made clear on arrival.
Cycling into La Rochelle on the cycle tracks should have been easy as it was well explained but signposts rather random once into the outskirts.
On return aim for the new Leclerc and go under the motorway. An excellent site from which to explore La Rochelle.

Warm welcome on arrival at this site. We were allocated a pitch, but told to have a look around and if we liked one more to take that and to let them know.
Pitches were hedged and gave privacy but some would need long leads for electric points as there tended to be one electric point to eight pitches (reverse polarity). Toilet/shower blocks were clean and adequate. Free wifi available in area around reception.
The local village, beach and a little harbour were all within walking distance.
La Rochelle within 10 minutes drive.
