Stopped here overnight on our way south as it’s very handy for the A20.
A beautiful old chateau with lovely grounds and a very friendly owner.
Pitches are mostly shady, which was perfect given the very high temperature.
There is a restaurant and bar but we didn’t make use of either. The pool was very welcome in the warm weather.
Toilets and showers are clean and adequate but could do with updating.
We would definitely stay here again.

A nice site in the grounds of a chateau
Swimming pool is nice, there is a restaurant on site which was average
There is not a lot around the site but shops etc are a short drive away
Pitches are mostly in trees but have a little sun if you move around
We would return

This is a lovely peaceful, site set in the grounds of a lovely chateau whose grounds you can walk in.
There are nice walks in surrounding forest too.
The owner is a character but friendly as is the lady on reception.
Pitches are large, some part sloping and some very shaded. There are plenty of water and electric points.
The pool is lovely and a real suntrap. There is a wifi hotspot at reception which was OK.
The site restaurant offers a reasonable menu which we enjoyed a couple of times.
The sanitaires were always clean but could do with updating as some showers did work too well.
There are no washing machines. When I asked Monsieur said they were waiting for the electrician!
Bread can be ordered at reaction and the bar in a lovely old barn is open until 7 pm.
They lock the main gate at 7pm but the sidegate is open and there is parking.
Limoges is close by with big hypermarkets at Junction 29 and 30 of the A20.
Oradour sur Glane is close by, well worth a visit.
We explored the lovely local countryside of Haut Vienne lots of forest winding narrow roads and pretty villages.

We made the foolish decision to travel up from the Dordogne on the second Saturday of August. We ended up getting stuck in a huge traffic jam at Limoges for 2 and a half hours. We came off at a junction and this was the nearest campsite. We were so glad we did as we really enjoyed our short stay here. The owner is a really nice man, a gentleman and a character.
The chateau is the oldest in the castels group and is really beautiful.
The restaurant is located in the old Orangerie. We ate there one evening and had a delicious meal, served by some lovely ladies.
The pool is gorgeous, set in beside the stone outbuilding which has been turned into a games room and bar area. The one problem was that it closed very early, 6:30 pm, which took us by surprise.
The front gate closed at 7 pm, again very early. I thought that we were locked in, but found a side gate open, so at least we could access the bins located outside.
The sanitations are located in old buildings beside the restaurant. They are small and layout is quirky, due to the limitations of the building size. They were clean and toilet paper was provided.
Most of the campers here were spending one night here passing through. This is a pity as it gets very empty during the day. There is no entertainment provided in the evening and the bar closes at 7 so the campsite seems to be set up as a short stay site.
The deer and the horse are very friendly, some children on the site were feeding them apples from the trees on the site, I think that may have been the reason that they were so tame.

Stayed a night as a stopover to further South in France. Nice shaded pitch with water nearby. We had a dip in the pool which was refreshing after a hot day driving.
Sanitary facilities were fine not hi-tech by any means but perfectly adequate.
You could order bread for the next morning from reception. We had a short walk around the chateau's grounds and watched the deer in the adjoining field for a while.
Not sure how much privacy there would be in high season, we were a week or two early for that
But would probably stay again if in the area.

Had read a negative review or to so was a bit anxious about this one, but it is utterly charming in the quirky les castels way, with a feel of faded grandeur.
Handy for Limoges it is situated off a quiet lane and the chateau is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. We got a friendly welcome from a gentleman I believe to be the owner. It had that ‘end of season’ feel and a lot of people seemed to be one nighters like us, but don’t let that put you off.
There’s lots of shade in the parkland camping area, water and EHU close at hand to most pitches, which are large. The gardens and grounds are lovely for a stroll, although any thoughts of an early morning walk in the local countryside were curtailed by the locked gate until 8. 30 am !
Nice to see the deer in the adjacent paddock, which seem suspiciously tame ! There’s a lovely pool and the adjacent barn serves as bar and games room, there’s a bit of play equipment and rather dilapidated tennis and volleyball courts.
The sanitaires seem to attract the most criticism from reviewers; they are a bit antiquated and broadly unisex, but I had lovely hot showers after my swim and the next morning.
The restaurant was closing the day after we stayed, but we enjoyed a nice meal outside in a small lawned area - it’s generally local delicacies plus steaks and although not cheap, very tasty.
You’d need to pop to the next village if you want bread or croissants for the morning; not sure if this is different in high season.

As others have said this site is a little remote, particularly if in a motorhome but that doesn't detract from how lovely this site is. Set in the lovely grounds of a chateau (not open for visitors), and among mature trees most pitches (on a very slight slope) have good access to shade, whilst still offering plenty of sun. Plenty of water and drainage points.
Amenities were good & clean and the site had a nice restaurant although we didn't get an opportunity to eat there.
The pool area is lovely and just what is needed after a long day in the sun
Very good site and staff very helpful and friendly

Really good site. Mostly used as a one night stop over but in magnificent grounds. Good level pitches with large grounds to explore. Fishing lake is quite a walk but very peaceful. Caught a couple of roach and saw snake swimming past. Brilliant. Toilet block good with plenty of hot water. Not much to see in the area so can quite understand why it seems to be a one nighter. Good uncovered swimming pool and good restaurant. Recommended.

Arrived for a night stopover after an exhausting drive down (gale force winds all the way). Site was fairly empty but still given specific pitch under trees despite having a large unit. The toilet &shower areas were kept clean but are a bit dated compared to other castel sites we've stayed at. We made use of the restaurant and enjoyed the meal. There is a big but to follow, the cost was €40 for a night but we also were charged a further €10 for the temerity of actually prebooking! Nice as the site could have been we will definitely not be returning!

We stayed here for a couple of nights so we could visit Oradour du Glane. The site is lovely and so are the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant was lovely with great food. There is a lovely walk around the site and down to the lake, very secluded. Lots of peace and quiet. Toilet block just right no problems. We are going back this year. We didn't get enough of such an amazing site and it's beautiful people.
