We used this site for a couple of nights on the way south and for that it was absolutely fine. The site is 10 minutes off the A20 about 10km north of Limoges. English lady on reception made checking in that bit easier as their computer system had thrown a wobbler when we booked originally! We were given a choice of two pitches which were both fine with shrubs & a tree demarcating the edges. Electricity and water taps were both close to the pitch.
We ate in the restaurant one night which was a bit formal and expensive for us, but the takeaway the 2nd night was much more successful – they don’t advertise this, hence the reason we ate in the first night but they do have a basic pizza/frites/croque monsieur menu.
There is a playground for younger children and the grounds of the chateau are lovely for an evening stroll. The lake at the bottom of the hill is very overgrown and there is no way that you can swim in it or do any kind of watersports – there is little access for fishing either, although my younger daughter did like the crayfish!
A previous reviewer said that the site would be like staying in a Travelodge for a fortnight and I echo that sentiment entirely with the almost complete turnaround of caravans every day. The facilities were clearly suffering, the toilet block needs updating, it looks tired and grubby and for a 40 euro a night site didn’t seem to be fitting.
I would still recommend this site for an overnight stop but it does seem to rely on its listing as a Castel site and needs work to return it to something special once again.

Stayed at this site for only one night as a stop over on the way down to Dordogne. BUT have to say I would return for a longer stay as it is a lovley site.
Very well laid out - good onsite restaurant - clean toilet & shower blocks.
We arrived without booking (after 8 hour drive) but that was no problem. Pitched the unit in under 30 mins and was able to sit down in glorious sunshine with a beer.
The Chris told me she had lost her purse and we had no cash for the meal.
Went over to reception to see if it had been handed in but no - however, owner asked if it was a problem & when told about the predicament promptly lent us 60 euros. Not many people would have done that but it was a godsend.
In fact we found the purse in the morning & paid him back without having to go to the bank.
Overall I would deffo recommend this site for it's very good location as an over night stop & also as a longer term stay.

On first glance this is a great site - large pitches, lovely grounds, convenient location and is certainly excellent as a stopover site on the way further south due to its close proximity to a junction on the toll free A20.
However not to be recommended for longer stays - its a bit like staying at a Travelodge for 2 weeks -each evening you have new neighbours who either the following morning or certainly in a day or two will be packing up and moving on.
The lake, contrary to their website, is certainly not suitable for swimming in fact on site there are notices prohibiting swimming in the lake. There is no laundry services (unless you count the washing up sinks) contrary to the website, and the bar / restaurant and swimming pool have random opening and closing times depending on the availability of the owner - the pool can only be accessed through the bar/games room area and due to the bar the owner needs to be present for it all to be open. The 'shop' sells wine and ice creams only although there is a good Spar shop with long opening hours about 1.5 miles away in Beaune Les Mines.
Also the site closes its gates at 10pm (as is the norm in France) however due to being a secure castle grounds this means it does not appear that you can get on to the site even by foot after the gate closing - no late dinners out then if you want to stay here!.

A very friendly welcome, we had no booking but this caused no problem. The site has large, slightly sloping pitches, some in shade some without. Tents seem to be put into the shady areas along one edge of the main field, caravans and campers in the middle block of the field with less shade. Water was close to hand from a standpipe. Electricity is available. The single loo block is adequate, just, they are in what looks like a converted old farm building and are now showing their age. They were always clean but some of the cubicles were very small. They are not built with modern materials. The swimming pool is good. A small childrens playground is available. There is a restaurant (with takeaway) on site but we didn't try it. There is no shop but bread can be ordered (before 1900) for the next morning. There is a bar with TV. The surroundings are beautiful but occasionally traffic noise can be heard. There are a couple of short walks on site and there is a paddock housing 4 or 5 deer which respond to the offer of stale bread. Barbecues are OK if off the ground.
Judging from the turnover, this is a favourite transit site on the main route north/south but the area has a lot to offer in its own right. We enjoyed a 4 night stay with plenty to see and do.
NOTE: The site does NOT accept plastic.
