The owners have advised that due to a new development at Butlins Minehead the Touring Park will close permanently on 31/10/2013 and will not be re-opening.

Just back from a week's stay here. As expected Butlin's itself has lots of stuff going on. Kids loved the swimming pool and spent a fortune in the arcades. There was plenty of entertainment to keep us all going and some good shows. My personal favourite was the 'Pink' tribute who was almost as good as the real thing!

The touring site is quite far removed from the main venue as people have already said. It is at the end of a long car park and can be a tight squeeze to get the caravan through in places due to the way people have parked. It would be nice to see Butlin's putting better marking in there to stop that happening.

The touring site wasn't very easy to see from the end of the car park either as it is behind a large building. Once again it would be good if there was a sign there to let people know they were going in the right direction. Apart from that it was brilliant and the kids loved it.

Looks like we will be going back again in the future.

Found this site by accident as didn't realise that Butlins did touring and it is very difficult to find information on it.

On arrival there are no signs telling you where to go, it was only the staff on the gate waving at us that we managed to find it, you have to go in through the day visitors gate.

The site itself is at the very far end of the site and you have to drive through the car park to reach it, the site is level but has no drainage, we had quite a bit of rain and by the end of our 5 days you needed wellies whenever you stepped outside the door.

The toilets / showers / washing up are in portable cabin type buildings and need updating although they were clean. The main attraction of this site is the Butlins facilities, the swimming pool is fantastic and there is so much to keep the children entertained, our boys aged 9 and 6 had a great time and can't wait to go back. It is a good 10-15 minute walk from the touring park to the main attractions.

We will go back next year but it would be nicer if the touring facilities were updated and some drainage put in.

We stayed at Butlins touring site in our touring caravan for a Friday till Monday, as the first part of our holiday, before we spent the rest of the week in the New forest.

I'm surprised that no one else has left any feed back about this site since my last visit last year.

The site is level and well kept, toilet and shower block are clean, washing up facilities are good, and as usual Butlins entertainment is first class, and for £80 for a weekend at Butlins in July, I think is cheap compared to booking one of there apartments.

Also they except dogs, you cant take them in the main complex, but they are allowed on the touring site.

To get to the touring site, you have to drive through the main car park which at the time was full of large pot holes, but as we were leaving on the Monday workmen had begun repairing all the holes, so this will no longer be a problem.

We will be stopping off again next year, hopefully for a week this time.

We went to Butlins in our touring caravan in June for a Friday to Monday.

When we arrived the warden informed us that we had the whole caravan site to our selves, which seem a bit weird, then we found out it was a Butlins adult only weekend and the price for staying on the camp site was normally £200 for the weekend which put people off, but we only paid £85 for the weekend, we did book our holiday in January.

The touring site was flat and well kept, the showers and toilet were porter cabin type and always kept clean,

The camp site is at the opposite end to where all the entertainment is, so it’s quiet.

The entertainment as usual at Butlins is excellent this weekend had S club 7, The Real Thing plus other groups, there is a field with-in Butlins that had bands and a disco playing during the day all weekend

I don’t think this type of weekend would be suited for anyone who wanted a quiet weekend, if you pick a normal family weekend your children would love it.

We will definitely go again, but we would pick a normal weekend.

I have just returned from Skegness Butlins, I have spent many times here but in their accommodation. After buying a tourer we thought we would book in on the touring site. After recently stopping on the Haven Blue Dolphin site disappointment of the Butlins showering and toilet facilities was an understatement.

The women's toilets had a large puddle in all weekend and was not cleaned during our week-end stay. All the showers were very sentimental some of which didn't work.

The shower block was absolutely freezing so taking a six month old in there for a wash was a definite no no. Luckily Butlins has a great pool with a warm shower room where he could be bathed.

A lovely camping site, toilet and shower blocks were basic but adequate for our needs, a small laundrette on site which was very handy, there are also washing up facilities and hand washing basins too.

Plenty of drinking water taps.

The only drawback to this site is that the pitches are not big enough, especially if you have a large tent, infact during our stay a tent pitched next to us and our guy ropes went underneath their tent.

There is also a large field adjacent to the site which was great for flying a kite.

The campsite is a good 20 minutes walk from the main part of butlins. We mostly drove down to the main car park. You get passes to all the facilities within butlins.

All in all a very good site which is maintained very well and facilities kept very clean.

Would be happy to visit again.

Just returned from a fantastic break at Butlins Minhead touring park. We are a family of 5 and bought our first caranvan this year this was our main summer holiday. We decided to go to Butlins as the kids really enjoyed the times we had been to Skegness (staying in chalets).

The touring site is about a 15 minute walk from the skyline pavilion and is located near the staff accommodation. The prices are good value for money 7 nights high season are £390 for 7 nights and £145 in low season for upto 4 people £10 per night per extra person this included the use of all Butlins facilities.

All pitches are grass electric with plenty of space around for awning and car. The main complex had lost of squawking seagulls which must be annoying if you are staying in the chalets. Just behind the touring park their is a farm which had a lot of birds which clucked away all day and night. In the morning the cockerel's made sure you had no long lie in.

The toilet facilities were clean and tidy. The on site warden (Bob) worked mon-fri and kept the whole area clean and tidy and was very polite and helpful. Minehead has a good beach which is opposite the main entrance.

The town of Minehead itself was a lot smaller that I thought. The main roads to the site from the M5 were tight at some spots the distance from the motorway was around 30 miles which took nearly 2 hours due to type of road and amount of traffic.

We travelled from Glasgow and stayed on an overnight at Gordono (M5) enroute to Minehead. We are going to try the Skegness site perhaps in October.

Hi de hi and all that. Good site. Don't forget a sledge hammer to put your pegs in. Clean toilets and shower block. Pitch number 12 was the best one. We was very close to washing up facility but beware of the very hot water.Loads of hand sanitizers everywhere. We stayed from mon to fri at a cost of £55. This is far cheaper than the campers but they did not have to walk as far as us.(7 mins)

A good tip we found was to extend our stay for 4 days at half price and leave sunday. The road from the m5 to minehead is dangerous with lots of bends and constant reminders of past accidents. As I am such a good driver this was not a problem.

Good all round entertainment with 60's bands and tesco a short walk away.(15 mins)

The loos are very basic with resident moths and spiders. They do look a bit tatty but I've seen worse. The showers were ok, they could do with cleaning the mould off the floor where it meets the wall yuk, I kept my crocs on!

I didn't see any wardens the whole time we were there, so can't comment on them.

Butlins itself has gone really downhill, didn't think much of the employees, they were nothing like how they used to be back in 80's when I was kid. Everywhere needs a refurb
