We needed a cheap, basic campsite in / near Swansea and this fitted the bill perfectly.

Definitely basic but toilets / showers were clean and water was hot. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The mouldy things in the fridge were rather gross, but the hot chocolate machine next to the fridge made up for that. Lots of building work going on, though not sure what a view to. Consequently, I'm not sure that it was particularly safe for younger children.

There were also a couple of friendly animals to talk to, as well as the horse riding.

The views were amazing. We had thought about bringing bicycles, but having got here and driven up the hill, realised that it was just as well we didn't!

It is hard to find an inexpensive site on the Gower, so this site helped me pick this one as a base. It is actually quite handy, being on a hill overlooking Swansea in the East and Mumbles (rolls off the tongue) the other way. You will need a good map or sat nav to find the site, as it is off a non- descript suburban estate.

I've no argument with previous reviews. This is basic tent camping, a bit grungy in parts but with some benefits. The Clyne Centre is mainly to do with horses and rider training and the camp fields (paddocks?) seem to be a sideline. There are 3 small fields. You unload your car then vehicles are banned from the fields and accesses. In the large barn are toilets and a couple of wet rooms with toilet, sink, seat and shower for campers' use only. There is a foyer where you can crash out on the old sofa and take refuge if your tent blows away etc. In one of the camp paddocks is an old railway wagon body with solar heat (weak even in glorious weather) for the washing up sinks, and the bonus of some (gungy) worktops and some loose old chairs you can use. As a camper in a tiny tent I found this lot very useful. Take a couple of floorcloths to clean up and you should be fine. I'd use the site again.

The site isn't quite in the Gower but is a good base for exploring this very nice area (there are caravan parks anywhere near a beach but not too intrusive). The Mumbles is a bit of old fashioned seaside, with fish and chips and cafes on the front. The surprise for me was Swansea. Take the foot/cycle path 3 miles past parks, boating lakes, golf course, university site and Swansea FC ground to the New Marina. Interesting, and all by the beach and sea. There's lovely.

Stayed after the close of the May bank holiday for five nights – I (and my tent, for £7. 50 a night, credit cards accepted) was the only visitor on the flat top of this windy hill but there was shelter from farm buildings and a nearby hedge with trees. For one of my days the rain bucketed down and the wind blew so I was glad of the shelter. The ground around the tent was very soggy after the rain. I could take my car to my tent-pitch to unload but then had to park it 70 yards away on hard standing. There was a converted barn area, which had a climbing wall, it was also heated so I could sit in comfort out of the rain or after dark to read a book. Here were photos of children's groups doing all sorts of adventure stuff at the farm. A fridge/freezer for cooler blocks, washing machine and dryer, toilets, individual showers and communal shower areas added to the facilities. Hot water was included. An in-old-railway-carriage with long-gone engine wash-up area was near the tents with hot water supplied by a solar panel. The sun was obviously struggling to warm the water but at least the wash-up sink was under cover. Farm animals, especially horses, abounded with supplemental swallows and sparrows. Excellent views over the bay to Swansea and the Mumbles headland. I thought the farm difficult to find and was glad that I had marked it on my SatNav. From the sea-front to the farm is over a mile and its very uphill all the way. (I discovered just how uphill it was at the end of a six hour walk!) The road meanders through middle class to expensive suburbia until you break through to the farm at the very top. Sainsburys with petrol is just three miles into Swansea. Staff were pleasant. I spent time chatting to the stable hands who looked after the horses and gave riding lessons. This is a good base from which to explore the Gower peninsula but for that you need a car or a bike.

Nice site with great views. We had opted for woodland camping but found that it was a little too remote for us with a young child so site was helpful with letting us stay on nearest field. Also note that its quite a steep route to woodland site with packed car.

Facilities were good. Camping fields well kept. Plenty of hot water in hand basins but campers showers not working. Other showers however are available but are not as private. Love the idea of cars only being allowed on site to unload and load but can be a bit of a trek if you have a large tent.

Brilliant for Swansea Bay & Mumbles. Caswell Bay etc only a short drive so brilliant if you don't want to be stuck in the car for long. Clyne Gardens is on the doorstep- well worth a visit. Local extremely well stocked shop and chippy on the front of Swansea Bay so ideal for some shopping and a nice stroll.

My 3 year old loved seeing the horses, cows, rabbits, chicken, sheep and goat and George the enormous pig. Shame there were no ducks in the pond though.

No playground area on site so keeping older children amused might be harder.

In summary we enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

On the positive side this is a small and usually quiet site with great views over Swansea bay and The Mumbles. It is on high ground and, as we found, vulnerable to high winds and torrential rain. There is direct access to the common, so great walking, especially if you have a dog.

On the downside, the charge for the dog at £5 per night is excessive. The toilets are basic and not cleaned that often and there is no hot water available at the wash basins. The showers are spacious and hot water is free and plentiful, but, they were far from clean on our visit although the site was very quiet.

Although dish washing facilities are provided, there was practically no hot water available so useless really. The fields are small and segregated into families and couples but there is no car access to them. You have to carry all your gear from the lane into the field - this is quite some effort if you have a big tent.

On the whole, despite some attractive aspects such as views, access to walking and size of site, I will not use this site again and cannot recommend it for the costs charged.

We found this campsite to be exactly as their website shows. It's back to basics camping with very friendly, easy going staff. Excellent pitches for tents with surrounding trees to shelter from the wind. Although basic shower facilities, hot water was plentiful.

Lot's of activities to choose from although this visit, as a small group, just wanted to enjoy the camping for two nights with lovely view's over Mumbles bay, followed by a short horse ride before we left on the Sunday.

We liked the continuously sleeping pig! We will be visiting again soon.

Well! visited clyne farm once again early august 2012 only to find a new injection of young blood into the maintenance of the place, newly mowed camping fields, toilets and showers cleaned every day,

all areas generally much cleaner / tidy, including the fridge / freezer and and drinks machine area, must admit all the times we been there never seen the dog?

Keep it up michael and the rest of the staff.

We also went back a week and a half later, weather was brill.

Well if its glamping you want you probably came to the wrong place!.

If its good honest camping! look no further.

Pitches and views to die for, had a large picnic table outside our tent 'supplied by them' , had breakfast most mornings in beautiful sunshine over looking Swansea bay.

We found toilets & showers acceptable, hot water and hot showers all for free, bearing in mind that when other people visit this site for other adventures they leave the facilities very dirty.

Staff members very friendly and helpful, yes! no hot water in washing up hut! boil your own ! no problems sorted.

This will be our 4th visit to Clyne farm in august 2012, just got to look out for the best weeks weather.

Not exactly glamping at this site. Toilet/shower facilities not at all clean really. Luckily we had family close by so showered there.

There was no hot water to wash up in either. Dog as mentioned in a previous review is not friendly.

The site does have plus points, it has amazing views and is close to The Mumbles.

All the Beaches close by are fantastic. I would also recommend a trip to Joes Icecream.

We had a lovely spot to camp in and the other campers near by were very friendly.

We didn't use any of the activities available on the farm.
