Sorry to say, but the only plus of this campsite is the small river.
Lots of midges, a road right next to your tent,
Dirty toilets and the drinking water was brown.

Just a field in North yorks.
But what an idyllic location.
Very remote, and scenic.
Farmer has provided 2 portoloos, but that's it.
At £6 pppn, it represents cracking value.
River running through site, and sheep roam freely.
No phone signal, and site is quite bumpy.
Loads of wildlife to spot.
Farmer will call, each evening for his fees.
No need to book.

Tap, portaloo, river & brilliant location. That's what you get.
Stayed 2 nights & loved it, just 2 other units were there at the time.
Pitched right next to a little waterfall, where I took my refreshing washes.
The portaloo (clean & tidy) was in the other field which is also used for camping so plenty of room.
The tap is off-site at the farm, just up the road.
If you like it basic then this fits the bill.
£10 well spent, hope to be back again sometime.

We were a group of 6 friends who went for the August bank holiday weekend, and we absolutely love this campsite so much we visit it very often! There's a tap up the road at the farm for fresh water and a portaloo on the site (can be a bit grim when the site is busy) and for the money (£5 pppn) it is bang on. It's a real back to basics gem, park your camper or pitch your tent where you want and enjoy the best dale in Yorkshire. Fires are allowed and there's some lovely walks, also a great dark skies place for stargazing. The owners are lovely and just let you crack on and enjoy the holiday! We will be back!

We spent a couple of days on this site and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If peace and quiet is your thing and you don't mind basic camping then this little site is ideal. There is a thunderbox toilet in the adjoining field which was very clean and tidy and a tap at the farm entrance. Cost £20 for the two of us for 2 nights. The scenery is amazing, the farm staff friendly and an abundance of wildlife and walks. Would definitely visit again.

This is as close to wild camping as you will get, the site has 1 porta loo and that is it. What it lacks in facilities it makes up for with stunning scenary and tranquility. You are right on the River Swale close to its source and are pretty remote which will appeal to those wanting to get away from it all. £4 a night is nothing to pay for such a peaceful retreat. The stone circle firepits were a great touch as it is just not camping without a campfire. I am sure I will stay again.

When the weather is good (as it was for us) there can't be a better place to stay provided you like wild camping. No rules, very cheap and a nice secluded place near to the entrance to the site to wash in the river. You'd be mad to stay here in bad weather though.

My family have just returned from a 3 night stay on this little gem of a site where we pitched by the river Swale in a field with sheep. It is, as the price and information on their website suggests wild camping with the owners consent, and as such was quiet enough for our children aged 12 and 10 and dog (German Shepard -Malamute cross) to run and play, on our second night we even had a field to ourselves. Ideal base for walking. The nearest town is 10 miles away over some interesting roads. There are no showers but a wash in the river is just fine and a portaloo is provided which was kept very clean and a tap at the farmhouse for fresh water. Overall an excellent place.

Stayed here again twice this summer - excellent location and only £4 per adult, £2 per child, so very cheap. There is a portaloo and a tap, and stunning scenery. Campfires next to the river Swale are allowed, and there are no noise police if you stay up past 10pm, oh and no clubhouse or man in a bear outfit! it's perfect for those who want to get away from it all and relax. Wonderful.

This was a super find our own little bolt hole away from everything, it's wild camping but with the farmers permission they are very helpful and when we were by the river and it was rising they kept an eye on us in case we had to move, it's lovely to see the sheep up close and watching the fish jumping in the river and all the birds just what you need to recharge your batteries, all in all a very relaxing site.
