Last 30 years First visited here when I was 2 years old. I have been back every year since and I am now taking my kids. So impressed that I bought a static caravan down here but time has come to look at new places for camping so anyone who has been here and can recomend anywhere as good please email me. Everything you need is on site and they are reluctant to take all male parties so unlikely to be any trouble. Not as special as it used to be, but I suppose nothing is. I do agree that it is starting to go "Butlin-Esq" in a small way with green coats etc, but they do look after the kids very well. Speed boats can be launched but it is very hard work to do so and will most definatley scratch the bottom on the pebble beach. Slipway only goes to beach and not to the water. Excellent model aircraft flying site at Woodberry common who welcome visitors for those who are as sad as me and love the hobby.

August 2001,2002,2003 Good site with plenty of amenities, lovely beach and pleasant uphill walks around. But they pack too many people in, no marked out spaces and tents are squeezed in wherever they can. Early season is great, but don't go in the first week of August - you can't breath!

August 2003 We found this site rather 'Butlin-esque', but pleasant enough. Very busy and closely packed, with terraced pitches.
The facilities are generally very good, there is a well stocked shop with a cafe and takeaway opposite, and an ice cream shop next to the private beach. The beach is pebbled, but the shop sells 'aqua shoes' which give your feet some well needed comfort! Parents should be careful with kids on the beach, as it shelves very quickly when the tide is in. We were disappointed with the toilet and shower blocks. OK, it was busy, but they were never particularly clean, quite a few showers didn't work, many doors had broken locks, quite a few broken toilet seats. On the plus side though, showers are free.
There is free entertainment every evening in the on site pub, but get there early if the site is busy, otherwise you won't get a seat. An unusual feature is that they have floodlights to illuminate the beach at night, which are left on until at least 1.30am (the latest we saw them!) We were there for the record hottest day in the UK - the first time 100F was topped - and people were still swimming at 1am. There are some great views from the coastal walk paths too.
Would we go again - probably, but not for too long a stay. We give this site 6/10, had the toilets and showers been better we'd have marked it higher.

July/August 2002 Great evening entertainment for both the kids and adults.
Beach is nice but is pebbled.
Showers etc could have been cleaner but in all fairness it was a rather wet time.
Pitches rather small and very close to one another.

July 2002 This site has everything without needing to travel. Well stocked shop, cafe and takeaway, lovely safe beach with boat hire, indoor pool, pub with entertainment, adventure playground, arcade, cliff walks, good facillities. The camp site did get crowded, but is terraced so ensured a degree of privacy. Would definately go again.
