Fantastic campsite set in beautiful and quiet location. This being August in the UK it did rain quite heavily! Despite this, the facilities remained very clean and mud free. First class pub food available at the Screes Inn. Muncaster Castle was a great day out, plenty to keep family occupied all day and well worth admission charge of £15.00 for 2 adults and a 3 year old. Miniature steam railway very nice but expensive. Would definitely recommend this campsite.

Lovely little site in a quieter area of the Lakes. We went in the last Bank Hol of August and the site was fully booked but didn't feel too crowded. The owner was friendly and helped us to find us an alternative pitch nearer to a hookup point as our cable wouldn't reach, this the only negative as some of the EHU pitches are a good distance from the EHU points so make sure your cable is long enough ! The toilets and showers are clean and modern, with only 2 showers in the gents I expected delays in the morning but these did not materialise. The village has 2 pubs about 200 yrds from the site. Both do great food ( if not cheap ) and quality real ale. Take rock pegs as the ground was quite rocky. Recommended.

This was apparently the wettest the site has been for three years. The ground was damp but who can help that it is the Lake District.
This was a lovely site, the owners working hard to ensure clean facilities.
Showers were great despite some campers not being able to read and insisting on going in with their shoes on!
Very friendly and very quiet. The drinks machine in the laundry almost better than brewing up yourself.

Well I re-visited site after a 20 year break, a few changes a playpark and trees on field, but still as I remember beautiful, waking in the morning and seeing the screes from your tent door take's your breath away. Site is clean toilets and field it's self no sheep on site these day's. Ruth is still in command and run's a very friendly site. On day of arrival we were me by a young girl who didn't seem too interested but we didn't let this put us off. The two pub's are still there and are packed most night's and are a great way to relax after a hard day up the fell's. I would have to recommend this site highly just to say that you have been.

Everything was as read in the previous reviews - would recommend the Screes Inn as the food was fantastic and they are dog friendly too.
What a lovely quiet site if you are looking for rest and relaxation. Had a fab time and found everyone friendly - hope to go again next year but will remember to book next time.

We have just returned from touring the Lakes and West Scotland, and decided to pay a 2nd visit to Church Stile have been a couple of years ago in a trailer tent. It is just as great as we remembered good facilities. The showers are fine and the kids’ playground is a godsend for getting some peace from the wee beasties. There is also a wood attached that is nice for an after dinner stroll. There is good walking to the lake with spectacular scenery just over the brow of the hill. Another plus is no mobile phone reception! So may not be keen on this, but I loved it. There are 2 pubs a couple of minutes walk that do some nice nosh as well as all the attractions listed in the other reviews. Really nice spot and well worth a visit.

We have just spent a weekend at this gorgeous site. The owners are welcoming, the pitches level and well spaced and the toilet and laundry block spotless (all the time!) There are about 10 EHU on both grass and hard standing. Excellent children's play area and large field for ball games away from the pitches. The scenery and walks are stunning as you can imagine and there are two local hostelries, one which has it's own brewery, within crawling distance. Nearest shop is a couple of miles away but stocks everything you need. We will definitely be going back there again.

We have been to this site again and again and again. Year after Year. NEVER fails to work its magic. One of, if not the best sites I have been to in Cumbria. The facilities are perfect, and Ruth and is a gem.
I live in the county but just those few miles makes a fantastic getaway.
Will keep going back. Jusy try and stop me.

Just returned from this excellent camp site. You could sit relaxing around the tent and listen to the Cuckoo.
The pitches are great, flat, grassy and surrounded by trees. You did not feel packed in and the site has rules of 3m between tents. Could do with more electric hook-ups though.
Make sure you have some rock pegs with you as these will be needed if the winds are high as they were during our stay. I bent quite a few pegs trying to get them in the ground.
The toilets were exceptional and I did not have to Queue for the showers even though there was only two each for Ladies and Gents. My wife had to wait on one occasion and aslo the hot water did not last into the morning. On a note of Safety the shower floors are extremely slippy so be careful.
The playground was good for the kids on the site.
You could not wish for a better site, the oustanding natural beauty of the area and the views. The local pubs sold great food and very friendly people.
We would definitely return to this fantastic site.

Great site. The pitches are reasonably flat with good views and surroundings. It's quiet at night despite it being busy. The play area was just right for our kids (6,5,2) and the toilet facilities were pristine. Bring most of your own grub etc as there is no shop on site and the nearest one is in Gosforth. This was a great site for getting away from it all and we will be back again.
