We've just come back from Waldergrave's and must say we had an enjoyable visit. Facilities on site include a restaurant (very good menu) with bar, an adults bar, a family bar with entertainment and also a well stocked shop. Adjacent to the site is a golf driving range and a well stocked camping shop. The site covers a large area and accommodates static caravans, caravans, motor homes and tents, so has something for all in terms of accommodation requirements. There are several play areas for the little ones and every pitch has electric and water supplies, additionally the pitch sizes were very generous in terms of size. Although our visit coincided with the school holiday's the site never seemed to be that busy, possibly because the site was so large, or the weather was not that promising, but I would imagine if the site was at capacity there might be a wait for showers etc in the morning….Toilet block and shower blocks were separate and kept very clean, although the water in the evening was slightly cooler in the shower than in the morning, but that's no issue! Play areas were very conveniently placed with good safe structures and plenty of soft ground – should the inevitable happen! As a bonus, the sea is just a 2 minute stroll over the dog walking field and is a gem for finding the odd crab or 2. Will visit again I am sure.

We visited this park on a really awful weekend the rain did not stop pouring down but was still very impressed with the facilities here. I had read reviews stating that the toilets were always in need of a clean but I could find no evidence of this as they and the shower block were immaculate. I will definitely be going back to this site but on a better weekend hopefully when it does not rain.

This was our 1st time camping. A nice site plenty of space for the children, children's clubs and play areas to keep them amused. A Swimming pool which was outside but heated, cant pass comment as didn't use it very cold weekend! The pitch was a really good size and had its own tap and EHU, which saved you walking for ever for water. There were plenty of toilet & shower blocks and all of which were very clean. On-site shop which was VERY well stocked for absolutely anything from magazines, produce to toys and camping BITS and as we forgot the mallet came in pretty handy to be able to buy one and was reasonably priced too! There was a nice restaurant and separate bar areas that were child friendly! Would go again!

This was our first camping trip, more of a weekend test run and we chose this site for various reasons, the main one being that it is fairly commercial (didn't want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere, first time out!) The site is very large and the pitches are 8m x 8m (very spacious) and most appeared to have EHU and drinking water taps, though there were a few that didn't. We fitted our Eurohike Hampton, chairs, table, etc on comfortably but didn't have enough room for the car. Fortunately there was no problem keeping it in the main car park. Tents and caravans all in together and the site was very busy the weekend we went as it was half term. The kids playground was fairly near our pitch and was rated by my two boys, aged 8 and 4 as absolutely brilliant! The shop was nice, modern and very well stocked though rather expensive but I guess that is to be expected on a campsite? The restaurant was fine, again just a little pricey for the quality of the food but the service was pleasant and quick. The clubhouse/bar was great, very near the playground so the kids could run in and out and blessedly smoke free. The toilet block was big but only cleaned once a day and for some reason the showers weren't working properly in the mornings but were fine early evening, so use them then! They were plentiful, clean and hot. Washing up facilities were also fine. There was some rowdiness late Saturday night though luckily nowhere near our tent. Nothing to keep me awake, just the usual chatter, the odd TV, etc. The site is about 20 minutes drive from Colchester, a beautiful, historic town. We visited the castle which we all enjoyed, very reasonable charge to get in and loads to see and learn. We also visited the Colchester zoo, the highlight of the weekend! Though sadly no time to hit the shops. I highly recommend this site, especially for families with young children, remember to look out for the three ducks roaming the site in the hunt for scraps, bless em!

This site was very nice with plenty of toilets in a nice block but not cleaned often enough. The new smoke free club house was excellent with good staff and a big bar (camping price rises this year seems to be paying for it). We went in march last year which was very windy and broke one of the ropes from the tent. Near to a stony beach but still a nice stroll. Washing-up is inside and warm with plenty of sinks. Plenty of Electric hook-up and water. A bit noisy with static caravan dogs barking all hours. Colchester town half hour drive away which is nice with a market. Would visit this site again in warmer weather if not taking the kids as too expensive now.

We stayed for 2 nights, pitch had ample room for our montana 6 plus car. Loads to do for adults and kids. Golf range massive, football court for the kids but our pitch was right next to it and the flood lights are on till quite late, so when booking ask not to have pitch numbers 1,2,3,4,5,21,22. Showers nice and hot also clean.Food ok. Entertainment good. Would recommend this site.

We booked this pitch when the weather was lovely. However, when we arrived on the Saturday, it was windy and rainy. Not a good start, ha ha ha! The reception was friendly and you have to pay a £10.00 deposit for the barrier which was ok. We were very near the toilets and shower block. Plenty of toilets and showers but they were very dirty by the end of the day. They appeared to be cleaned once a day but the guy didn't do a very good job! The cafe food was poor and everyone complained of this, it was also very expensive. The shop was very well stocked and reasonable. The club house was clean and smoke fee so not very good if you want to smoke! But good for the kids lungs. The entertainment was ok, standard for a clubhouse. The swimming pool was clean and manned with life gaurds and you can go to the cafe to watch the kids as it is right next to the pool. The pitch was good, we had hook up to electric and water. All in all, was a good time. Would I go back, yes.

This site needs updating. There are loads more pitches than the 60 stated. Easily a couple of hundred and the great thing is that the site has been planned so that you pitch 'around' the fields and not all over it. Therefore, there's loads of space for the children etc. Each pitch has it's own tap so no long hikes! We travelled as a 'play group' 4 mums and 6 young children (3,3,3,4,4,7) and had a wonderful time. There's a beautiful lake with fish and the site adjoins the beach (but I wouldn't swim in it) which is littered with stones, shells etc and makes an interesting trip for the kids. The shop is well stocked and the recently upgraded bar and club are lovely. Kids club open for 1 hour am and pm could be extended as by the time you've walked back to your tent it's time to go back to collect the kids! I've visited this site a few times before and the only downside is the new rules on the pool. There's a dreadful system in place whereby you take your booking confirmation to reception to get your passes, then hand these in at the pool (at the session before the one you actually want!), these get exchanged for a coloured band and then, at your session you can swim. After 45 mins you get out, dry off and complete the above all over again if you want another swim! Do this, everyday and you'll see what I mean. I think it's to discourage locals from 'bunking in' - maybe a wristband on each person when you arrive would be better! Anyway, apart from this farce I'd recommend the site to everyone!

Despite what their website, and other reviews say, NOT ALL PITCHES HAVE EHU (let alone water). After paying £50 for two nights I was amazed to find I was pitching up in a rough old field, sporting a duck pond. The non-EHU pitches are the same price as those with an EHU which when we went (July) was £25 per night which covered one unit and up to four people. The showers and toilets etc are very average, the washing up facilities were okay. On the weekend we went for whatever reason it seemed to attract what I can only describe as "chavs". Friday night the partying went on until well into morning. The onsite pub seemed to be pumping out music till at least midnight. The discarded condom down by the ponds edge just summed it all up it really. It's a huge site, with plenty of statics and tourers. From what I could see everyone was packed in. The sea runs just along the edge and there is a large field reserved for dog walking. Due to the amount of people here it is not a quiet site, and those wanting the good outdoors for peace and tranquillity would do better off going elsewhere. However, if you're part of a group of people who want a few beers and like the crowds and the hustle and bustle you'd best save up for a few nights stay.

This is the first time I've taken the family camping and could not have got off to a better start. Nicely laid out pitches and scenery and good amenities. The shower blocks and toilets were very clean although the swimming pool urinals were not so clever , due possibly to volume of use and the fact it was really warm. The England v Paraguay game was on in the Pub so plenty of people for a nice atmosphere. The restaurant and shop were reasonably priced and we will return quite soon mainly because it's twenty miles from us.
