 Arrived in the rain and dark after being stuck on the moroway for 2.5 hours for a 30 mile journey.
Toilet facilities are amazing and a pleasure to use. Each shower room has its own WC, wash hand basin and wet room type shower. The shower is operated by a sensor and makes for a good giggle. The standard is 5 star.
Waking up next morning to see the site was a pleasure: well maintained and lovely scenery.
I would recommend this to anyone, our 10 year old son loved it.
Looking forward to a return visit.

This is our second visit to Teversal, and once again Chris and Jayne's site is an absolute credit to their dedication and hard work.
As mentioned in most reviews, the toilet block is second to none. Wet rooms, with underfloor heating, which is always welcome when it is a little bit cold outside.
We did a lot of walking from the site, the Teversal Trails are really worth doing. Especially the Lady Spencer Walk which takes you up through Hardwick Hall. We covered nearly 50 miles during the week we were there, all on the trails.
The Carnavon pub down the road has a lovely beer garden, which is also dog friendly. We sat there for a few pints in the sunshine, while the dog slept on the grass.
Chris, Jayne and the reset of the Teversal staff are very welcoming, and cannot do enough for you. They made sure we were happy with our 2 pitches (in-laws were with us too) and Jayne came back over after about 30 mins to make sure we were still happy, and whether there was anything else that we needed.
The shop is very well stocked, and we can recommend the burgers from the local farm.
We will never hesitate returning to Teversal.

We visited this site 2 years ago when our granddaughter was born as family live near Nottingham. We were impressed then but this time we were even more impressed. The new shower block is the best we have ever come across anywhere here or abroad (and we have visited a lot). Underfloor heating and cubicles with toilet, shower, handbasin, mirrors and plenty of hanging space made it a pleasure to go for a shower in the mornings.
The owners and their staff were very friendly and helpful.
The newly refurbished pub the Canearvan is just a couple of hundred yards away and serves good food. Drinks are a bit pricey but it is very nice.
Plenty of walks from the site around the Teversal Trail (ideal for dog owners).
Convenient for the Derbyshire Dales with Chatsworth, Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock etc in easy distance.

Have just returned from a week at Teversal CCC site. Wow - the ablutions block is out of this world - warm, spacious, everything under one roof. The shower cubicles have a basin and a loo although there are 3 separate loo cubicles too. Tumble dryer, washing machine and iron (with ironing board!) also in the same building.
The team have worked hard to make the site a really nice place to be.
Opposite the site is the Silverhill Park - on the grounds of an old mine works. Great for walking the dogs or just sitting at the top of the hill watching the sun set. Peak District only 20 mins away - as is Sherwood Forest.
The on site reception/shop stocks all the essentials including rock pegs and mallets (the ground is hard). Fresh local meat and various freezers with a good selection.
We had originally booked a grass pitch but a storm was brewing so the warden kindly changed it to a hardstanding. Nothing seems to be a bother to them - they were all very kind and friendly.
We'll be returning.

What a nightmare to find ! watch out for the windy roads and the road barred to caravans !
The facilities are state of the art but I must give some constructive criticism here. As much as they are among the best kept and modern we have seen the showers activated by PIR sensor make for an interesting time in the shower especially when washing hair, try them
Another personal note from us was the kids patrolling around at night. Not a good thing in our opinion and we have two so we are allowed to comment
Some of the pitches look tight and with a big unit could prove interesting. We were lucky to be giving a nice big pitch with easy access but others didn't look so well.
On the good side
It is well laid out the idea of the site, the shop is comprehensively stocked, the information centre is a little out of date with info but well stocked otherwise
Pretty secure site as well
The local curry house delivers to site !
The facilities are very modern laid out in marble effect and it works, just those blinking sensors !
We were given a reasonable reception and shown to our pitch
Overall would we go again. Yes I think so but out of the main holiday season for us

Teversal is a very well presented site. On arrival, the greeting was very warm and welcoming with help being given to park our caravan on our pitch. There are plenty of, close, clean water and waste points all with well maintained recyclable/ rubbish areas.
There are lots of fixed bench/table combinations throughout the park to use for eating at, a nice touch if you can't be bothered to get all the 'stuff' out. The toilet block deserves an award. They must have been designed by Heineken.
Top spec fittings, under floor heating, large wet rooms with bog and basin, well lit and probably the best shower you will have in any hotel never mind a caravan park.
There are loads of walks, history and architecture to 'do' but on the negative side the residential areas are a little run down.

Very good campsite with excellent toilet/shower block. Dishwashing and other facilities also good. Stayed a couple of times during August 2010 and found the wardens to always be helpful and welcoming.
Over the road from the campsite there's a park/young woodland created from old mining sites. It seemed to be used as a dog-walking area when I was there.
I would suggest that everyone staying on this lovely campsite somehow get themselves up to the elevated spot with the moving statue of the miner checking for gas, and the list of those miners who died at this site.
Down the lane and past the pub there's also some nice walking/cycle routes. Further out you are handy for Mansfield.
The one negative I had was it difficult to find using sat nav (garmin)

Visited this site for a 3 night long weekend as it was half way between us and our friends we were meeting there.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were very specific about where to pitch, as per the rules of the C&CC. The site has absolutely immaculate and fantastic toilets / showers & washing up area and I suspect you could never find any thing better than these! Never had to queue at all. Lots of hot water etc.
The site itself is small and (when we were there) mainly caravans and campervans. This has an impact on the 'scenic green view', as whilst there are a few small trees and bushes, the site is generally open plan, with lots of hard standing pitches. The site has level pitches of varying sizes.
There is a small playground, but children's facilities, particularly for older children, are limited, as there is no usable open space, e.G. For ball games. Whilst there is Silverhill wood across the road, this is not really suitable as it is meadow / woods. It was very disappointing that during a walk there, a lot of time was spent avoiding treading in dog dirt, as it appears to be used as a dog exercise area. Thankfully, the site itself did not have this problem!
I suspect it would be a good site to take bikes, as there are traffic free cycle routes nearby, but we didn't do this on this occasion. As we knew the area reasonably well, we didn't have trips out, but there are numerous places to visit if you have not been to this area before (e.G. Sherwood forest).
There is a pub within walking distance (but we didn't go) and a Co-op within 5 minutes drive. There's a small shop on site too for essentials, ice cream etc.
Overall a pleasant weekend. It would also for some be a potentially good stopover point on the way up or down the country, due to its central location and proximity to the M1 (Junction 28/29).

Top Banana! We stayed here for two nights (my son's birthday and were going to alton towers). From arriving and staff helping us site the van to leaving and them waving us off it was perfect. The toilets/showers were out of this world (better than at home), the kids loved the playground and stayed out until dusk. I just can't fault it. Well stocked shop. Will definitely be going back.

The welcome was warm and friendly and the camp shop was adequate for the essential, the locally sourced meat, bread and eggs (and the excellent Pipers Crisps).
There is a Co-operative and a Netto about a mile from the site and an Asda in Sutton in Ashfield. There is a lovely pub (The Carnarvon) close to the site and although not cheap, the food is lovely.
The showers and toilets were excellent and couldn't be faulted and there is a small recreation area for the children.
The area itself is home to a once prosperous coal mining area and due to the closure of the mining industry, this part of Nottinghamshire has been re-developed into park lands and good walking facilities.
The Silver Hill walks lead you to the highest point in Nottinghamshire, where it is said that on a clear day you can see over 5 counties. It is marked by the statue of a coal miner.
The weather was very kind to us, thankfully and yes, we plan to return to Teversal and the Great East Midlands in the not too distant future.
