We've just returned from a 7 night stay at this site. On arrival, even though we had requested two adjoining pitches, one for us, one for our friends, we were directed to pitch number 6 at the top of the site away from our friends. They had arrived before us and were told, as the site had been busy they were unable to comply. Also, the owner instructed someone to cut the grass on pitch 6 prior to our arrival. This didn't happen until the next day. I could be wrong but I am under the impression that pitch 6 is the last to be allocated as it is right next to the very large heap of rotting grass cuttings which gave off quite an unpleasant pong! As the site emptied a little, we were able to move pitches.
However, the site itself: there are 12 pitches, 1 hardstanding, 11 grass and level. Water, CDP, rubbish and recycling bins, washing up sinks, showers and loos are at one end of the site. There is plenty of hot water to basins, showers and washing up sinks. Each side has a communal EHU point accessed along the back of each unit. This is fine unless you have a thoughtless person parked hard up against the hedge in which case you get scratched and tousled as you scrape along behind their van to get to your hookup. There is a small shop selling basics, and a play area with swings etc. Along with a small play room. The site itself is nice and quiet and there is very little traffic along the village road so no disturbance from that. It is, however, situated next to a working farm and can be slightly noisy and smelly when the pigs are mucked out. The website mentions some of the pitches having a sea view. This must have been written when the hedges were a lot lower than they are now as the only view we could get of the sea was right up by the grass cutting pile and standing on tiptoe. The really nice thing about the site is that you can hear the sea from your van and a 15/20 walk along a car-free track brings you to a delightful sandy beach with very few people on it except maybe a couple of dog walkers and folk having a chill out time as they watch the waves.
We notice one or two reviews mentioned the facilities being spotless - we can only assume they stayed at the site over a weekend, or that something drastic has happened since April of this year. We arrived on Saturday and yes, the showers (modern, tiled throughout, two gents, two ladies, loo in each room) were fine then but by Tuesday, when nothing had been cleaned but the site had been full, the loo in the ladies started to smell. The area around the washbasins was mucky and the hand towels. Well, they were really grubby. No cleaning appeared to take place all week until Friday afternoon before the site filled up once again. I can only draw the conclusion that the fewer the people on site, the less the facilities are bothered with. This is not what I expect for my £18 a night, free showers notwithstanding. ( On the subject of tariff it might be useful to note that the site does not accept payment cards but cheques or cash only. )
We ate at The Dotterel pub on the Saturday night and had a reasonable meal, cheaply priced. If you do the same, be aware that it stops serving food at 8 o clock. There is a highly recommended pie pub (The Chestnut Horse, I think) serving a vast range of homemade pies about 10 or so minutes away. They also cater for vegetarians, pie-wise so that's nice to see. The Massala Indian restaurant in Bridlington is also very good.
We can thoroughly recommend Eden Camp, about an hour away, for a very different but really enjoyable day out. The coast is easily accessible and gives a variety of experiences from the kiss me quick hat type to the quieter surfer sort.
In conclusion, this site could be fantastic with just a few tweaks - clean facilities, clean (or paper) towels, 10 not 12 pitches, and no rotting compost in the corner.

Just returned from Southview, got to say what a great little site, friendly owners, site is well laid out, toilets and showers spotless, just a short walk 10mins to Barmston beach which is dog friendly. Little shop on site selling all the necessary things.
At £15 per night inclusive of EHU with showers toilet, tea room and small shop, and hot tub and sauna great value for money
At the other end of Sands lane is an Italian restaurant (Casa Nostra )great food massive portions, really Nice staff, helpful guides around the area.
If your looking for a real chill out break, with peace and quite, this is a good choice

Just got back from a long weekend away at Southview with our touring caravan. Absolutely fantastic. Everything about Southview was perfect, the site, the facilities and the staff - fantastic. We loved every minute we were there. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and nothing was to much for them. We will definitely recommend Southview and we will definitely will be going back. Thank you Southview x

We visited this site last year, very luckily at the beginning of the mini heatwave we had. My husband, myself and our 2 dogs stayed in our touring caravan on the very well kept site and my parents stayed in the cottages available next door. A great time was had by all. The best campsite we have stayed at thus far.
The facilities on site are excellent and well maintained and the location was perfect for us as the dog friendly beach was in such easy reach. We spent a lot of our time there. (doggy heaven). The beach can be reached by road or by fields, both enjoyable walks.
There is a small shop on site which stocks the basic stuff and a shop further up the road in the caravan park near the beach too. The small tea room on site was also lovely. We didn't get a chance to use the hot tub, but it looked inviting. !
There is also plenty to do and see in the surrounding areas, which can all be easily reached by car.
I really can not enthuse about this site enough. The owners were very helpful and polite, nothing appeared to be too much trouble.
I would happily recommend this site to anyone who wants/needs a happy relaxing break.

Lovely little site just a stones throw from the sea.
Our party consisted of 2 adults, 3 children & 3 dogs.
And we never got bored.
Spent most of the time hunting for fossils on the beach.
Pitch was nice and big.
Showers where hot and always clean and tidy.
We will be going back in 2014.
There is a shop on site and one just up the road at the caravan site so no need to worry about what you have forgot.
Bridlington is about a 15 mins drive away.

We first visited the site last year soon after purchasing our folding camper. Since then we've been another 4 or 5 times and will definitely be going back again and again.
It's evident that the owners take great pride in the site and it's always well presented. The site is level and well drained, having a gravel area that fits two motorhomes and a grassy field with 5 caravan plots up one side and space for assorted tents and campers the other.
The site is dog friendly and there's no additional charge for them. Similarly, EHU is also included in the price. There are a couple of unisex loos (one in the shower block and one in the courtyard behind the cottages), two showers, two hand wash sinks and two pot washing sinks (one outside) and the entire amenities block is kept spotless with regular refills of loo rolls and hand soap.
There's a small playground on site with assorted climbing frames and swings and it's all safely within a bark covered area. There's also a small shop/office, tea room, laundry and (new this year) a sauna/hot tub. Make your own jokes about that one!
There aren't many amenities in the village of Barmston itself (it's only small, after all) but within a short walk is a dog friendly pub and, towards the cliffs, a static caravan park with on-site facilities and a path down to the equally dog friendly beach. Bridlington and Hornsea are only about 15 minutes away by car though we tend to spend most of the time relaxing on site or walking the dog on the beach or nearby cliff-top paths.
Finally, the two really great things about the site are the value (only £15 per night) and the friendly owners and their family.

Went to this campsites after viewing it last year, joined camping and caravan club so we could visit the site. Went to the site with good expectation and found that the facilities are outstanding. Four of us in 2 caravans stayed for two nights and will definitely be returning very shortly.
The toilets and shower are spotlessly clean and the site is one of the quietest I have stayed on, the playground is ideal for the younger children and the owners have taken the time to provide extra play equipment for the children. Owners are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Small tea room and shop on site for essentials.
There is access to the beach along the lane and local pub about half a mile away. The owners of this site have done an outstanding job and are continually improving the facilities

What a lovely little campsite. Whilst our 7 night stay over the (late) May bank holiday week was wet this year, this did not mar our enjoyment.
We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and enjoyed spacious & level pitches and clean facilities.
The unisex washroom was a little perturbing, but were kept very clean and the showers were good. We also enjoyed walking with our dog, only 10 minutes to the beach, straight down the road or 15 minutes across fields.
Once on the dog friendly beach you could walk for miles (when the tide is out).
We would certainly return to this site and would recommend to others who look for a fairly quiet site with high standards at a good price.

We have just returned from this site I can agree with all the reviews, the site is extremely well laid out with good drainage in the poor weather, 16amp electric, new shop which stocks most essentials, showers are very clean.
There is a children's play area, and play barn with football table and books and games
We have 3 children and it is a very safe site where you can sit and see your children play
Will be retiring very soon.
We booked the Italian restaurant on the corner (old little chef). Looks are very deceiving (a bit rundown), the food and service where excellent

Very friendly owners. Only 2 showers and 1 toilet for the whole site in the same area which on the whole isn't an issue but did cause a few embarrassing moments. There is a toilet behind it near the cottages which we discovered at a later date. The showers are superb with plenty of hot water.
The free range chickens are lovely to watch along with the well kept aviaries.
RSPB Bridlington is well worth a visit to see the gannets(there are puffins in the summer) and you can take dogs on leads.
The absolute highlight however is the beach walk 5 minutes away from the campsite again with dogs allowed.
Overall a very enjoyable stay.
