 It's a C&CC site, the weekend we stayed it had four caravans and a motorhome, plus three or four tents on a half acre level field. The site owner was very friendly and came over for a chat once we had pitched up, to make sure we had everything we needed and to tell us where things were in the area.
Although it only has one toilet and two showers, these were scrupulously clean all weekend and we never had to queue to use the facilities. My husband and daughter used the on site showers and reported they were good and strong and had plenty of hot water!
Our 4 year old loved the on site play facilities - they are small but well equipped with a sturdy wooden climbing frame, rope swings and ladders, a selection of plastic slides/rockers. There's a rocking horse and small snooker table in one of the outbuildings, plus books and other children's toys, there were hens to talk to, ducks to round up, and budgies to inspect. Because the site is small, it was perfect for her to feel she had freedom to roam whilst in reality still being in view.
But best of all, it's only ten minutes walk to the beach! We were lucky in that the weather when we stayed was glorious, yet the beach was still fairly empty. The beach lies a short walk down the lane from Southview Cottages campsite, then a quick cut through the static caravan site at the end of the lane. It is served by a bus service between (I think) Bridlington and Hornsea.
The static site has a well stocked shop and bar, and a restaurant with quite an extensive pub meal menu - we didn't try the food so I can't comment on the quality but it seemed popular on both occasions we passed by.
We would also recommend very strongly that you have a trip into Bridlington and bring back fish and chips from Fish and Chips at 149, they are some of the best I've ever had and richly deserve their title of National Fish and Chips Awards Winner 2011!
