A lovely little site. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The site was quiet when we stayed just 2 other tents and a couple of camper vans. The facilities were basic but perfectly adequate for the very reasonable price they charge.

The field is sloping so we were pleased we were able to pick our own spot because it was quiet. You can have a fire if you use their fire drums.

We visited Heptonstall which is a very quaint village with a couple of nice pubs. Food in these pubs was very limited. We caught the bus back which cost £2. 00 each.

We would definitely go back just to see the amazing stars and to be woken by the tweeting of the birds.

Tent with two adults and two dogs

Location:- The site has a fantastic location for walking around this area and, in our case, visiting family! We were surprised when we first arrived as this site is literally a sloping field, we had to check it was the actual site! Once settled we were able to enjoy the fantastic views and peace of the area.

If you have a large tent you will struggle to find a flat area on the site. The road goes around the field so you do have cars and such going by but this was relatively rare and didn't impact on our enjoyment.

Facilities:- There is a single room with the toilet, shower and wash basin in it. We did not use the shower whilst there. The dish wash area was two open sinks that seemed to only run cold water - we just boiled a kettle at the tent and used that.

Dogs:- The owners have a lovely collie and the site was dog friendly but, due to nearness of the road you do need to keep your dogs on a lead or a very close eye on them. The walks from the campsite were great and a nice walk down to Hebden Bridge.

Overall summary:- This campsite is great if you have wanted to try wild camping but not sure how to deal without a toilet! It is very friendly and relaxed. We will use the campsite again when visiting family in the area.

You’ll receive a very warm welcome at this fabulous little camp site based a couple of miles out from beautiful Hebden Bridge. The tent area could pitch around 20 and is on a slight incline, not so much to be a bother. There is also a hard standing area for motorhomes c/w EHU and a caravan (“Bertha!”) to rent too. The site benefits from a free-to-use hot shower that is nothing less than luxurious and is kitted out with shower gel, handwash and towels. There’s also a washing up block and refuse area.

Fire-bowls are provided free-of-charge and logs provided for a very modest fee. Perfect for watching nature’s TV under the stars.

The camp site is directly next to The New Delight pub which is warm, inviting and friendly serving some excellent ales and delicious pub food.

Prices are all on their website here with clear instructions to IGNORE YOUR SATNAV and follow their directions. Further information about the area, including an up-to-date event calendar, provided via Hebden Bridge Web

The site is close to a local beauty spot, Hebble Hole, and there are several walks around the site. There’s a bridleway that leads you downhill into Hebden Bridge directly opposite the site. It will take you a good half hour at a steady pace to get there so coming back uphill you might consider taking the “E” bus; it’s quite the trek after a long day and the bus stops right outside the pub. Perfect!

Visited here when it was freezing cold, but we were given a thoroughly warm welcome by the owner, who had recently took over the campsite.

We came in our early 80s cumbersome Mercedes motorhome - it wasn't the easiest place to get to, but we did take some wrong turns and ended up steep inclines, with roads only just as wide as the van - my advice would be to come on the road that runs from Burnley to Blackshaw Head, otherwise if you are in a big unit like ours, you are in for a nightmare like we were!

There is hard standing with EHU for 2 or 3 vans and a small field for tents. Unsurprisingly there were no tents, what with snow still around!

The site itself is basic, but perfectly adequate, in fact I prefer sites this way. There is only one toilet/shower, which is in a small lean to next to the pub (run separately from the campsite). Couldn't use the shower as the pipes were frozen (!), so can't comment on it, but looked clean and modern, with plenty of loo roll and handwash!

The location is great - there is a wonderful walk down to Hebble Hole, then on the valley top down to Heptonstall (definitely worth the walk) then down into Hebden Bridge. Took us about an hour 20 minutes to get down to Hebden, then an excellent minibus service that stops right outside the pub (£2. 80 for a day ticket/£2 single journey). Buses run until just after 10pm (on Sundays too).

If you want a quiet retreat in great countryside, run by a really friendly guy, with lovely kids and Border Collie, then this could be the place for you. If you are looking for 5 star facilities with adventure playgrounds, then it most certainly is not.

I paid £15 for the night for two of us with EHU, which I thought was perfectly reasonable.

The pub serves very good beer (Bridestones Pennine Gold is one of the best pints I have ever had) and their home cooked food is decent enough for the price - £5. 95 for Scampi, chips, salad.

The pub itself is a nice old building - it really is a local pub for local people, that is not to say that you won't get a warm welcome, the locals might just take the mick out of you, that's all!

As an end note the owner has a cute little caravan on site for rent - £25 a night with electric and gas. Sleeps two, but could sleep a couple of kids too. Well worth it for the price.

Will definitely come again.

This is the second time I stayed at the New Delight Inn and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first. We arrived on a day that they didn't serve dinner, but the owner was kind enough to prepare a filling pub meal for us. The young lady tending the bar bar was cheerful and fun to talk to and the fire was welcome after a exhaustingly wet day on the Pennine Way. The facilities for the campers were clean and in good working order (the shower was hot!).

Just wanted to post a review to the very warm welcome we received at the new delight campsite. The shower was lovely and warm! there was tea and coffee available free of charge in the shower block (which I think is a really nice touch) there was even fresh milk in the fridge. The owner was very friendly and helpful and even gave us a lift down into Hebdon. What great service :-)

If I were to add anything to the set up there it would be a drying room as the weather was quite wet and its so nice to able to dry our wet boots!

Overall I heartily reccomend - and thanks for a great stay. PS the pub next door is also a nice bonus and serves food which was decent pub grub.

We were doing a section of the pennine way and had booked the campsite on route when we arrived we easily found a map of the campsite which showed us exactly where space had been allocated to our booking so we got our tents up and headed straight for the pub - fantastic!

We stayed at this site for 2 nights. The first night we struck lucky with the weather and got a beautiful evening sat with a fire going (pit provided and logs/kindling available to buy)loving the peaceful sounds of Yorkshire. Next night it tipped it down so a couple of pints in the pub next to the site went down well!

The site itself is basic and small. There were 11 tents of varying sizes on a small slightly sloped field and nothing on the hard standings. There are 2 shower/sink/toilet rooms which was fine. We didn't have to queue at all. Also a sink, kettle, fridge and freezer are available to use in the reception area. The toilet/showers were kept very clean despite the weather on the second day and had toilet roll/soap and some shower gels etc (looked like they had been left by previous campers).

The thing that made the site for me was the warmth and friendliness of the people running it. I was made to feel like we could ask for anything and if it was possible they would do it. When enquiring about our first night my sister said she had been cold so the woman spent 10 minutes in the reception area rummaging and provided a brand new duvet and cover for her. We were offered papers/eggs/milk delivered to the tent in the morning. Payment was never pressed for and a genuine query as to whether we had enjoyed our day was welcome.

As a base to explore it was just what I was after and I would definitely come back!

First of all, the positives. The directions to the site are very clear and accurate – so don’t be tempted to follow the campsite signs on the road as it will lead you to another site.

The young lady who owns the site is very friendly and helpful. She was good enough to let us book at the very last minute without paying any deposit. Although we were led to believe that a quiet weekend was in store meaning there would perhaps be a few people there, there was one other camper beside ourselves who was a walker and just turned up and pitched without reservation.

However, it would appear that poetic licence was used in the description of the campsite on the website. The field adjoining the pub car park was the smallest camping field I’ve seen and is on a slight slope full of molehills – which to be fair, had been attempted to be flattened, and the grass was long. It took us a minute or so to realize that this field was the actual camping field as there was no one else there when we turned up. There was a tiny caravan which we assume was the reception although there was no one there when we arrived and the only time someone was in it was the day we were leaving.

We saw signs to a shower and toilet which comprised of one toilet, basin and shower and which appeared to still be under construction and although it was open briefly when we arrived, was closed for the remainder of our stay. This particular shower/toilet “block” also doubled as a “shop” and there were a couple of ladies setting up a table selling local produce. Due to the tiny size of the block being used as a multi purpose function, we felt it wasn’t hygienic or private. I certainly wouldn’t like to use the toilet while people were in there buying things and I’m sure people wouldn’t like to buy things listening to someone on the toilet!

The other shower “block” was also one shower, toilet and basin at the side of the pub and which looked like a converted coal bunker. Whilst they did their best to make facilities out of limited space, at no time did we see anyone clean them and nor did we feel that they were hygienic or private either. It would be better to have a solid shower screen compared to a shower curtain. The pot washing facilities were not under cover and only had cold water – although the taps did have hot water indicators on them.

The paths leading to the field and facilities were in need of resurfacing with gravel or something as they were full of mud and extremely slippy. Whilst we probably picked the worst weekend of the year to camp with heavy rain, sleet and ice, there weren’t that many people using the paths, so we can’t imagine what it would be like with a packed site. Ramblers and fell runners also used the field as a cut through, adding to the muddy conditions.

The site rules stipulate a no noise policy between 11. 00 pm and 7. 00 am – which are great if they are endorsed by the campsite users, but this didn’t stop the noise from the pub going on until the early hours of the morning.

The landlord and landlady of the pub were friendly enough as were the locals, but the pub is also in need of an update or redecoration at least. We didn’t dine in the pub but the drinks were reasonably priced.

We can only imagine (and hope) that this site is a work in progress and we certainly would not be returning or recommend it unless vast improvements are made.

Just visited this site over the bank holiday weekend. A very unusual site mainly tents but room for a couple of motorhomes. I would recommend this site for adults or grown-up children.

Our grandchildren would be devastated to get there and not be able to ride their bikes. The owner is pulling out all the stops she couldn't be more friendly or accommodating.

Papers delivered to your van or tent. She was forever cleaning the toilet shower.

The views from the site are amazing and the walk into Hebden Bridge via the bridle path was lovely it didn't seem to take long at all. The bus service was spot on.

Whatever you do ignore your sat nav and take notice of the turning circle in Hebden Bridge. We will definitely be returning in the near future. A lovely break.

Had a wonderful stay at Hebden Bridge Camping. Received a warm welcome, along with lots of helpful info for our stay.

The site is quiet and feels remote without being too isolated. There is a walk into the town on a picturesque footpath & a bus that can bring you right back if you choose.

There is a nice pub next door which brews it's own beers & serves decent pub grub.

The facilities are spotless, they had even provided soaps and shampoo etc.

This is one of the loveliest campsites I've stayed at for some time, will definitely be returning & recommending to friends.
