We came here because it was close to the garage where my car had been fixed following a breakdown (a505 vehicle services. Great place, thank you very much). What a lovely find. Site is perfect, peaceful and very clean. The only drawback is that there are only two toilets (one of each) but it was quiet when we were there so no problem. Toilets a bit basic but adequate. New showers now open. Just a suggestion though, more toilets and a washing up point would improve things immensely. Didn't bother us though, we would stay here again. Perfect as an overnight stop on way to Channel ports or a visit to nearby Imperial War Museum and Cambridge.
Can't really comment on child friendliness as no children about !

Little Gem of a site
We came over this wonderful caravan site, purely by coincidence 👍🏻
My husband and I plus our 2 little dogs have just returned home after spending 5 days at this wonderful little site.
Although close to the A10 the noise isn't really noticed, we pitched our caravan in a adorable apple orchard where we were surrounded in peace and tranquility.
We had electric hook-up and there is a nice clean shower block which is for ladies and gents, enjoying lovely hot water each and every time we had a shower.
Last but not least a very friendly garden centre where you can have a wonder round, and enjoy a nice cup of tea and a very pleasant meal indeed.
Also a pet and wild bird centre present.
We throughly recommend this delightful little hidden gem which is adult only.

A very quiet site and lovely surroundings in the orchard. The facilities are poor with the toilet block being the main disappointment. Makes sure you take toilet roll with you. The showers are ok, water is hot but I agree with a comment earlier that you need to keep your clothing out of the way as everything gets wet. Would I stay here again, yes. Its a good location and now I know what the site is like I could cope quite well for a week caravanning. If I was in a tent then no.

This site did not live up to the previous reviews. The setting is beautiful, with tourer sites in the orchard, very green and pleasant. However site is also used by local workers, residents who all share the very basic toilet amenities. There is one ladies toilet, and two gent's. Toilet paper is limited so need to walk across the site carrying the necessary toilet roll. The showers are good and hot, but hanging space for clothes and towel is limited and it can be difficult to keep them dry while showering.

This is a lovely site and I would use it again, dog friendly. Nice garden centre, very helpful also a very good pet shop. There is a bird reserve near by at Fowlmere, that at a bit of a stretch you can walk to. The nearest pub you can walk to, but the drinks are expensive. Royston Cave is worth a visit and the heath is good for a walk, the club is open to the public. Hitchin is an interesting town. Duxford Imperial War Museum is good. Adult only site.

Stayed 2 nights lovely peacfull site, set among orchard trees a grand little café set in the well stocked garden centre had good fish & chips for lunch, will certainly come back a very security site main gate close at 5. 30 but you pay £20 for key to come back any time money is refunded when you depart.

I stayed here for 2 nights in July. It is an adult only site which is what I specifically looked for and it is lovely and quiet and peaceful. There are no signs to indicate there is a campsite so you just head for the Garden Centre which was very easy to find.
The campsite is in an old orchard and flat field behind the Garden Centre. It is very secure as there is a locked gate to go through between it and the Garden Centre. At night time the main gate to the Garden Centre is also locked but you are given keys for both of these gates. There is a cafe/restaurant in the Garden Centre which serves breakfasts and lunches (and snacks throughout the day) and although I didn't try it the menu looked good. The pitch size is very good with electric hookup and you can choose where you want to go. It's all grass pitches. I think there is also a section without hookup. There's a separate field on the way to the orchard which seems to be for longer term campers. Everyone I met was very friendly. There are 4 unisex showers which were very clean and I think were new last year. There is one male and one female toilet with hand basin. I don't know how busy they get if there is something on at Cambridge or Duxford but I think if it was crowded this might put some strain on the toilet facilities.
The pub down the road is within walking distance and served very good food. They even had a separate vegetarian menu which was a bonus (not just one vegetarian dish with no choice which is still the case in many places).
As I was just using the campsite as a stop over I didn't go to Duxford or Cambridge but I believe it's very easy to get there by bus, the bus stop is just outside the Garden Centre. It's also very easy to drive to the Cambridge Park and Ride car park.
I would certainly use this campsite again both as a stop over and for a more extended period of time and would recommend it if you want peace and quiet and a basic old fashioned camping experience. Thankfully there are no bells and whistles on site and the Garden Centre fits in well with the whole ambience. It would make a great base for exploring the surrounding area without being in the midst of a busy/noisy environment.

Weren't sure we were in the right place at first, as nothing from the road suggested a campsite and You need to check in at the garden centre tills, everyone is very friendly but a little signage would have been nice and reassuring.
We were blown away with the setting, tucked away behind the garden centre behind a locked gate is a safe and secure campsite, the prettiest little orchard, the pitches are lined by trees, giving you a lovely big space per unit, all pitches are on flat grass. There is around 16-20 pitches with power and the same again without. , then there is another flat field which we presume would be for tents, there were none the weekend we stayed.
Adults only - this made for a quiet site which suited its idilic setting, this site would make a great family friendly site and it was unfortunate that my sister couldn't join us with their 5 year old son. There is no play park, but a lovely big empty field.
Showers are new, clean, and always had hot water. 2 toilets also.
There is a pub in walking distance (left out of the site, then turn right before the other garden centre). It was nice, served food, but did not allow dogs inside, lovely big garden.
We love sites with no rules, and this is certainly one of those, we never felt watched over but we knew we could ask for anything at the garden centre, we called them one day to close the window on the camper when we went out for the day and the weather changed. They ran and closed it for us - Really nice. The man in charge, handed us the gate key (£20 deposit) and let us pick where we wanted to go, we had 4 pitches in total and he let us pick where we'd like to be.
There isn't a lot to do in walking distance, but Cambridge is just 10 miles away, a lovely city to wonder around. If you don't worry about leaving the site, it's perfect! There is a cafe at the garden centre selling breakfasts and lunches and a camping supply shop and pet shop on site as well. Nowhere to get milk and bread but you can get calor gas here. We didn't explore the bus routes.
We paid £13 per night per unit, and that included hook up.
We would definitely return here, and would recommend for Duxford Airshow weekends, it was a nice surprise for us.

Just spent five nights at Phillimore. Very friendly and welcoming. Four new showers now in use, however toilet facilities still original. Pitches (many with EHU) are amongst the orchard trees and are well spaced out, on firm grass connected by a gravel trackway. Convenient for cycling to IWM Duxford, NT Wimpole Hall and RSPB Fowlmere. The Green Man PH is only a ten minute walk, and is a Green King house with guest ales and dining either in the bar or restaurant. In the opposite direction about 20 min walk is the village of Melbourn, which has a small Co-op and a couple more pubs. Bus stops for Cambridge or Royston (mon - sat), only five minutes from the sit. Enjoyable stay and will definitely be returning.

An excellent large, level site set in an old orchard with clean showers and WC. The staff and fellow campers were very friendly and made me feel most welcome. 2 good pubs and 2 shops including Co-op in Melbourn, 1 mile away. Good place to stay if making the long journey, as I did, to the Duxford Air Museum which takes a full day to see properly. Also possible to cycle to the Duxford Air Display from here and avoid the traffic jams. Overall - Excellent
